Missed a few segments on Twitch and can definitely use a refresher on the parts I watched. Thanks again for the set reviews these are such a great resource.
This is the first set I haven't been excited for and didn't even look at all the previews. With this dropping tomorrow this couldn't have dropped at a better time for me!
Thats just how limited is though. Ravenous lindwurm has been a nightmare in limited but nobody uses it in constructed because its just unplayable there.
Always love watching your reviews Legend! Also, just a quick point about the card culmination of studies that I think maybe you missed: if the cards exiled off the top are prismari, you get both the blue and red effects. Not that I think that would change the grade much for limited, but, if you build around it right, its not quite as bad as it first appears.
I love how LegenVD places timestamps and and markers on the video bar, makes for very easy viewing. Also I came to comment that I laughed when he didn't even say anything about Multiple Choice, just flashed it for a few seconds with an A.
2:42:15 I may have misheard it, but it didn't seem like you were taking into account the fact that Crackle with Power can go face (at least that's how I interprete the 'targets' part). Doesn't that make it a tad better? Wouldn't change the grade I guess, it's still a B. But maybe a B+? Anyway, thank you soooo much for these. It's so nice and convenient to get a clean, well-spoken and expertly evaluated look at every single card in a new set. Looking forward to these videos everytime there's a new release.
Thanks as always for the incredible omount of dedication you put in your work, but the lack the "on-screen feedback" from the chat, made the visualisation significantly more difficult. Please consider switching back! Maybe putting the final grade on screen would help too.
I liked having the chat grades, but they added a lot of extra time to each card as I had to manually reset the poll each time. If I wanted to edit out the pauses afterwards it would take me two full days to edit the set review, which was not worth the effort. Even if something only takes a couple extra seconds it all adds up over the course of a long set review. The spreadsheets I make give you a quick visual of the overall grades if that's what you're looking for.
About halfway through but I'm loving how this set works in limited. The mana costs are not low for most powerful cards, which can lead to those longer grindy games. I'd rather play some thinking man's magic rather than turn 4 kill aggro decks. I was skeptical about the difference between guilds and schools, but I do enjoy what Wizards did to change the color combinations. I have yet to see an S tier card, which shows how balanced this set is
One thing to remark about Embrose is that his ability doesn't state you have to put the counter on one of your creatures. This means it is a really weak repeatable removel spell as well.
Noticed that Embrose doesn't need to target creatures you control, allowing it to get rid of enemy x/1 creatures. This could probably make it better than A?
You didn‘t point out that Crackle with Power can go face as well. If you get to 8 mana it would usually win you the game, right? Dealing 10 to the face and taking out their biggest creature will probably leave you in a state were you can push through I would think. (And if the board is super stalled and 10 to the face would not be enough you could potentially wait for 11 mana). With the added flexibility of casting it for 5, I would rank this at least B+, if not A.
Teach by example is likely more powerful than it looks, you could cast it turn 2 then 5 turns and mana later drop that 7 mana spell and it gets copied, it says next instant sorcery but does not have a limit on when that is.
"If we were handing out B+'s this would be one" You said that more than 10 times...wouldn't that make those cards B+? B+ being a subjective grade? Also, you are giving out C+'s...so I feel like you are bamboozleing us >.>
Yes it is. 711.4d While a modal double-faced spell is on the stack or a modal double-faced permanent is on the battlefield, it has only the characteristics of the face that’s up.
Quandrix Command's fourth ability can't be used to stop graveyard recursion because it says "up to three". So, if I point that to my opponent, he can decline and leave the cards in the graveyard.
@@LegenVD they are very valuable in midrangey archetypes. always have been. so sleeping on them in Gx archetypes is not ideal. Also That's undervaluing by a lot how frequently you can build aggressively slanted lorehold. red still has bread and butter aggressive drops combined with white and a couple of good golden curve toppers. Lorehold really seems like an aggressive archetype that sometimes gets to play the value game.
@@LegenVD I would be wary of undervaluing some build just because it's not the main sinergy. Lorehold has access to cheap creatures, lords, sticky threats good valid combat tricks, some decent board buffs for token strats. In the end the identity is mostly set by the bread and butter commons, which support being aggressive
@@mattiasiviero2743 They mostly got C-grades, which is where they usually land. Decks can only have so many combat tricks, so they're not in high demand.
Hey Legend, love your videos! I watch them all. I was surprised you said duskweilder was in the D class... I think you might be underrating that card in the Kaldheim format... 2 relevant creature types, cheap boast, always needs to be addressed in the late game too because of the drain. I am certain it should be a C, or C+ in black green or black red... Easy way to close out games.... You made a higher mythic level than me last month, but... thoughts?
I like Solve The Equation more than you, in part because it can tutor up your hyper-bomb Mystical Archive cards. I even won a draft game with Approach, Solve, Approach over three turns.
@@LegenVD That's not what I meant. You were saying that the opponent has to pick up two creatures, but they can decide to return only one or none if they want to.
@@Methylimidazol The rest will get destroyed, so I don't see how that makes a difference. The card is worded pretty badly as evidenced by this conversation.
@@LegenVD love your content as always lvd, my 4 month old son seems to find your voice very soothing, was chilling almost all the way thru a 4 hour set review. Love ya man, fine opening hand 😉
I really love your videos, but 4 hours is just too much. If you would review the cards without reading every single card out loud, you could easily safe 2 hours and assume your viewers read the cards themselves. Just sayin, I sadly won't watch the video this way, but I certainly would if you would skip the part everybody can do themselves and go right away to the part that makes you such an exceptional player and analyze the cards.
Some people like listening to it without watching the video, sadly can't please everyone. I keep an updated spreadsheet with all the ratings for those who don't have time to sit through the review.
I've never been more excited for a four hour slide show
What about a four hour slideshow with spicy visual effects?
I love these... I’m always impatient for lvds first draft after the set review
Thank god for the playback speed button :P
Am I really going to watch a 4 hour set review in one sitting?
Yes.
😳
I didn't know Kackis was a magic gamer
The only video longer than one of yours lmao
Thanks for putting in all the time and effort into the review. I look forward to watching it in parts for a few days
I've been waiting for your video all along, you make the best card set reviews for limited, thank you
Glad you like them!
"I'm not handing out B+ but this card gets a B+"
This is the best Strixhaven review I’ve seen. You’re definitely a beast!
2:08:09 - Why LVD's set reviews are the best.
I started watching this last night in bed. Fell asleep not even a quarter of the way in. Now I have to watch it all over again for continuity.
Finally, now I know how to feel.
Broke: Reading the Harry Potter books
Woke: Watching the Harry Potter movies
Bespoke: Watching the -Harry Potter- Strixhaven limited set review
HOLD UP! Grinning Ignus + Birgi = infinite creature casts? Somebody start brewing something spicy. I feel like 1 card is missing for infinite mana
Hazoret's Monument will both make infinite mana and help you find a finisher like Grapeshot
@@LegenVD I would love to see you play around with it! I’ll get brewing

I spit my drink out at the faithless looting card art at 3:44:44. It looked like something out of unhinged.
Awwwwwwwww man. I just finished looking through Purge's Dota 2 patch notes...
What a great day :D

You're still the one targeting the cards in graveyard, "up to" just means there don't have to be three. Compare it to Loaming Shaman.
@@LegenVD Oh, really? Then that's my bad for not understanding the card.
