Custom 1973 Chevrolet Monte Carlo at Indianapolis Cars and Coffee

Mark fell in love with 1973 Chevrolet Monte Carlo’s body style at a young age, and owned one as his first car. During college, he found another and started restoring it. Every bit of work you see on this car was done by Mark in a 2-car garage. It ended up being a combination of two Monte Carlos, because he found more rust than he was comfortable with, so he went all the way to New Mexico to rescue a body from a junk yard. Unlike the Camaro, Nova or Chevelle, so called “Catalog Cars”, the aftermarket support for the 2nd generation Monte Carlo is lacking. This presented a challenge when doing the LS Swap. He has a lot of work into getting the engine to sit properly in the chassis. That lack of aftermarket also means the vast majority of the brightwork you see on Mark’s Monte Carlo was sourced from local car shows and swap meets. He's not afraid to drive the car. He just did 800 miles on the 2024 Hot Rod Power Tour, not his first by the looks of it.
Working ono the Monte Carlo is a form of therapy for Mark. After a long day of work, he likes to go out in the garage and spend a couple of hours doing this or that. It helps bring him back to center at the end of the day.
