      That’s not a very good deal actually. You can find good 8GB 2K tablets with a solid snapdragon processor for around $100-$150 and they probably have better update support. Most metal tablets are just aluminum it doesn’t cost more to produce or anything I prefer a glass black personally.😅

      For the low income crowd, five years is important. So is built-in storage. $160 is a lot to have to spend every one or two years when most of your income goes to rent and food. Transportation(fuel or time consuming public bus) and utilities would already be hurdles

    I picked up some 10 inch tablets to use as remotes for my sound system equipment. They work with my X-air 18 rack mount mixer, my Midas M32 mixing console, and the Allen and Heath SQ system at church. It makes setting up the monitors for musicians so much easier. Instead of trying to work from the mixer location, you can walk on stage with the performers and adjust the mix for each musician in real time from the tablet.
    Bi-Mart had them on sale for under $100. Pop in an Micro SD card for extra space. They are perfect for the task.

    For a tablet like that, they should completely skip the rear camera, and go with a front facing 8 megapixel camera, and completely ditch the 5 megapixel one. They could then use the funds for the 5 megapixel camera to instead add an additional speaker focused more on lower frequencies.

    • @HighHrothgar0

      I agree I never use tablet cameras even higher end tablets have crappy cameras. It would be innovative and appreciated by some to have no camera and would probably improve battery life significantly!

    • @zodwraith5745
      @zodwraith5745 7 месяцев назад

      Problem with that isn't the cost savings, it's that many people don't want to give up the screen real estate for higher quality front facing cameras that are unavoidably bigger. If someone could make a phone/tablet with a hinged rear camera that could flip up and become front facing you'd have the best of both worlds, but any time you introduce something like that it becomes a reliability nightmare with that potential point of failure.

    When it comes to android device displays, I wish device makers would just allow users to load picture profiles like you can do with rooted devices. Just make it part of the display settings, thus if a user has a colorimeter, they can use software like displaycal as well as a colorimeter and calibrate their display. The use of picture profiles is already a native function of android, and some devices will have a color temperature slider as well as some basic preset profiles, but no one seems willing to just let a user load an ICC profile.

    I wonder if it's better than my Samsung TabA 10 inch tablet at this point. It's been fully reliable but some things no longer work like they did and it gets jumpy trying to play 4k videos on RUclips now. It's a octocore with 128 gig as well.

    • @SpaceCaseZ06
      @SpaceCaseZ06 11 месяцев назад +1

      And you're sure it's not an issue with your broadband internet service provider?
      I'm not sure you gain anything beneficial trying to play 2160p versus 1440p on any tablet though... much less a Galaxy Tab A-series tablet.
      I'd start by downgrading your RUclips playback setting to 1440p especially if the screen on the tablet doesn't even support higher resolution.
      Next, I'd check that you're getting ISP service speeds of at least 5G levels.
      Then I'd check that the bottleneck isn't with your modem and WiFi router.
      Finally, I'd make sure you don't have too many people using your WiFi

    • @69Dartman
      @69Dartman 11 месяцев назад

      @@SpaceCaseZ06 There are two people using it with phones and tablets. It's a newish 5gig etc router that's pretty nice with 3 antennas.
      I didn't realize 4k was a bit much for any midrange tablet so I guess this tablet might be a slight upgrade as pretty sure the tabA is 1080p screen.
      It will play 4k, just gets stuttery so usually yes, I drop it to 1440p and it's buttery smooth.
      So you think this would be a decent upgrade from the TabA other than playing RUclips at 1440p max like mine or better to stay with what I have and keep my money?

    I got. one of these after watching this video, and have been impressed with it... but been having one big issue. Four times now I have turned it on only to be told the system is corrupted and that I need to Factory Reset it.
    I have checked on Reddit and have found 3 others who are having the same issue. One of them even got a replacement and it's still happening to them on the new unit.

      I did not experience that on mine but definitely possible they got a bad batch of flash memory. I suspect the level of quality control at this price point would not be the same vs. something more expensive - they probably chose to eat it on the other end with customer returns.

    Just a heads up. Two of these (new) Onn Tablets Pro have failed me in under 2 days each. Out of nowhere they refused to boot with a dm-verity error - saying the device was corrupt, couldn't be trusted, and may not work properly, before shutting off (unless bypassed). Even factory resetting it both through Android setup and the emergency boot menu didn't get rid of the error. Hearing of others on message boards with the same problem, it seems like the system update has a fatal bug. I'd hold off on getting one of these, as appealing as the price is. A real shame, too, since otherwise, it was a great tablet.

    Can it read and write to a 1 TB SD card? What speed is the Type C connector? Is that simply USB 2 speeds over a smaller, newer connector? Can I use it with a USB 3.x hub to share a variety of USB drives from a single connector? Or use it with a port replicator / hub to add a physical Ethernet port, extra USB 3.x Type A ports, perhaps even another SD card slot in the hub? I could totally see using this as an offline computer for use in galleries, kiosks for previewing videos, movies, music, for use as part of a home theater PC as perhaps the main navigation touch display. I personally would never use it over Wi-Fi. Now if it can be physically tethered to a cellular transceiver that would be much more useful and safer for my data.

    Just got my tablet. I've had several tablets more expensive. I think this review falls short. Its $159. The short falls mentioned are negligible. Too much effort spent on camera quality. It's a $159 tablet. It does and has everything for above normal use. Its fast. 10hrs into use the battery is still going. Watched several movies. It's also not a 8 or 10 inch tablet. Screen protectors and cases on Walmart/ebay. Want a better camera for video. Spend $500. This tablet is $159. Thanks for the video. Its the only reason I purchased it.

      I’d be falling short if I didn’t point out the good and the bad regardless of price. It’s up to the consumer to decide if those things are deal breakers or not. Clearly it wasn’t for you and I’m glad the review helped you in your purchasing decision.

      I didn't see talk about brightness which is important for any outdoor usage. I don't expect 1400nits but I'd be very concerned if it's less than 400 cd/m².
      I've had devices overheat in sunlight too. So I'd be concerned with that.
      As well, I'd like to know how well it handles compressed 1080p HEVC/x.265 and AV1 because many inexpensive devices struggle. Ultimately, I'd like one to be able to handle Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning at 2160p60 VVC/x.266 VESA DisplayHDR 1000/1400 or even 2880p144 and 3456p120 but that's a very distant wish at this stage
      A 5000mAh battery should be the minimum by now these days with the routine prospect of over 10Ah. It's a shame it doesn't have at least 45W fast charging

    • @SpaceCaseZ06
      @SpaceCaseZ06 11 месяцев назад

      With the recent prominence of video communication, I would hope that 1080p front-facing cameras would be standard and 2160p common. 1440p and 1620p cameras not uncommon. 2880p and 3456p cameras not rare.

      @@SpaceCaseZ06 I've used mine in my car for a few days now. So. Cal bright sun 106⁰ heat. It has no finish and acts as a mirror. You can easily see the display in direct sunlight. I added a matt screen protector which did help with reflection. Mind you I have on polarized sun glasses in the sun so doing something like watching a movie in the direct sun is silly. In the car or under umbrella works fine. No overheating issues using it in the heat out of the sun. I've been outside by the pool all day and the battery is still going using it on and off reading online newspaper watching a show. Seems to charge in a couple of hours. For $159 it's worth it.

    I'm looking at tablets to replace that new 2023 10" Fire tablet as I'm tired of Amazon's BS bloatware and being locked down tighter than Fort Knox. I can't enable sideloaded apps like RUclips kids to my daughter's profile as Amazon only allows apps from THEIR marketplace on kid profiles. You're forced into Amazon's lock screen, backgrounds, and absolutely _horrible_ home screen and launcher. While these "ad supported" tablets used to only shove ads in your face on the lock screen they've gotten infected with the BS in _every_ aspect of the tablet.
    If you allow kids to use it unlocked to enable sideloaded apps you have no ability to remove or disable the links to your Amazon account and it's purchasing power. The Fire tablets have great hardware for the price but the Amazon spyware and bloatware completely ruins the experience. Pretty sad I'm looking to replace a tablet that's less than a year old but it really IS that bad.
