YOur tree is so lovely! It reminds me of our tree; packed with ornaments that are all 'special' in one way or another. No 'aesthetic' decorations for me LOL. I love the candles & clips. I also love the Farm & Fireside. I buy these types of publications whenever I find them at antique stores. The reading is so interesting! They used much richer vocabulary back then, when this would be the main form of entertainment & brain exercise. I love the ads, too. The ads back then were so detailed & lengthy, prime reading material all on their own!
Such cute little candles! You inspire me so much with your thrifty spirit and eye for beauty in the simple things. I love the old magazine/newspaper too.
How fun is that?! I made soy candles once and loved it. Some of them turned out great and some of them when I burned them, the wax tunneled down by the wick. I was afraid to give them as gifts because I didn't know which ones would end up doing that. I would welcome input on how to keep that from happening if anyone knows.
Did you make the soy candles in containers, like jars? It could be that the wicks you used were too thin for the diameter of the container. In that case, you could either try a thicker wick or a more narrow container, or add more than one wick in the container. It can also be the result of how you burn them. If you only burn them for short amounts of time each use, only the wax around the wick gets the chance to melt and this forms a tunnel over time.
I make coconut wax candles but should be the same principle. It happened as the candle was setting. You really have to baby sit them as the set. I finger test them as they set (just lightly press with your thumb) as the wax changes colors. Any bubbles, hollow out with a toothpick as it sets and do a repour. It is usually either a wick or jar temp issue, but it could be as simple as you poured too fast.
Kelly, I didn't think that as a Christian you'd celebrate Christmas or even put up a Christmas tree. Please remember what the Lord thinks of these customs Jeremiah 10:3-4 KJV For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. [4] They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
I love how the candles look, the primitive look is so special to me. 💛
Happy New Year, dear Kelli ❤
Your candles turned out so cute and they looked lovely on your tree.
Such a cozy detail!!! Love how the candles turned out on the tree 😊
Very beautiful ❤

Thank-you. Yes, I used containers. I will try burning them longer.
