Thank you for this video. It was very helpful...especially the tips on sharing via social media, mingling before and after, a poster of my book, pens, business cards, pens and mailing list. I am having my book signing this Saturday at a bookstore.
Thank you! Great information especially the reminders about onsite pens and postcards. I have a book signing in Oct and cannot wait to engage my audience! MENTAL ILLNESS MI DOESN'T LOOK LIKE ME
Any place that does printing. I think I got mines done at one of those club flyer places lol. But honestly you could get it done at Office Max or someplace similar.
I struggle with the fact that when I ask my "friends" on social media to "share" my posts (regarding my new book), I only get a couple of people that will actually share! Frustrated....
Yes that can be frustrating, but very common. Find people who have an interest in your book's subject matter instead. They are more motivated to share!
Thank you for this video! It was very useful and interesting. Do you have any advice for younger/teen authors? Can published teens have a book signing?
As long as you have your parent's permission and the location where you're having the book signing has no policies around age, yes teens can have book signings!
Great question! Very similarly, the only difference is you'll need to direct people to a website to purchase your eBook. But you can still have a poster created so that you have a visual of your book cover.
Thanks for the tips. What do I actually put on the poster? How big would you recommend the poster be, and do you put them at various places to advertise, or do you just have them for your table at your event?
You would put your book cover on the poster. I think my posters are 11x17 but Google it and see what the standard size is. I've had mine over 12 years and really don't remember. I take them to book signings, festivals, wherever it is appropriate.
Thanks for the reply. Besides posting to Facebook how do I get people to show up for my book signing. I mean do I put out flyers maybe? I'm kind of at a loss on how to get people to show up.
Thanks so much for the info. Very helpful. Questions: i am new to this city and state but i have gotten to know some people. Speaking outside the box, i am looking to have my book signing at a dessert shop. So we are not only inviting people but we will encounter the regular customer traffic. So question, i probably will not have an opportunity to read a passage, do a q and a. How would i manage that? And also is this a good venue for the book signing? This is my first book and book signing.
It's definitely different than hosting in a book store, but you can make the best out of it. Set up your table with your books and a poster of your book. People will usually stop at your table, so have a 30 second pitch ready.
Thanks for the video, regarding people buying, will they pay only cash, these says everyone pays with cards, how do I manage that? My book An Ordinary Guy, An Unknown Spy
Andrew, you're right most will pay with a card. So I have the Square app on my iPad and I take credit card payments through them. For the people that decide to pay in cash, I just make sure that I have change in case they have a $20 bill.
Absolutely! It's one of the tactics I used to grow my brand. Just remember that gaining a following is a continuous process. It may be a turnout of twenty the first time, but as you continue to market your signings the numbers will grow! Great question by the way!

Great Video! My name is Deon and I have just completed writing my very first book. I am planning a book launch celebration and I'm trying to grow my social media platforms to help spread the word. What did you find most helpful as far as gaining subscribers for your RUclips channel and other social media outlets?
Hi Deon, creating content that related to my book's subject matter has helped me to grow tremendously on RUclips. Also being aware of where your audience is helps as well. For example, I didn't get nearly as much traction on Facebook and Twitter as I did on RUclips and of course this will be different for every author. Much success to you!
thelifeofawriter That’s what I’m focusing on, and I hope to see growth. But I was wondering if I had things set up wrong because I actually take my content is pretty good, but growth is real slow.

❤❤❤thanks for all of your wonderful suggestions
Glad you like them!
Thanks for the great info❤
Great tips! Thanks! Is it better to take a photo after signing each book or sign several then take a photo with each person?
I usually do one person at a time (talk, answer questions, sign book, take picture, etc.)
@@thelifeofawriter Thank you so much for these tips! Happy Holidays!

I love your natural hair!!
Thank you!
When selling books at your signing, how or who handles the money and purchases of the book?
You can either bring a friend/family member along or handle the money yourself. Both ways work well!
Thanks for the tips!
Thank you soooo much!!!!

You need to plan your book signing in advance to give yourself time to promote wherever your audience is.
GREAT ADVICE
Thank you ♥♥
You're welcome 😊
Hi. Great video.
One question, what kind of pens are used for book signings? Can I use any kind of pen?
Yea, I use whatever I have available. I just make sure to test them and to have a couple on hand.
@@thelifeofawriter Thank you! Happy New Years!

Today is my first book signing.. how many books should I have to sale there? I think I underestimated
Congrats!! It will depend on how well you marketed it. I took 25 to my first book signing.
Will this work if you're not widely popular? I'm trying to grow my following. I'm scared about the turnout.
Absolutely! It's one of the tactics I used to grow my brand. Just remember that gaining a following is a continuous process. It may be a turnout of twenty the first time, but as you continue to market your signings the numbers will grow! Great question by the way!
how did it went?
Would you say it's crazy to have a book signing a few days or weeks after book has started selling on Amazon?
Absolutely not! That's perfect timing.
what are people's success rate doing this?
It's going to be different for everyone since its based on the turnout for the book signing.
I would like your assistance please.
Does it cost money to have a book signing?
It depends on where you have it. If you have it at a book store, it shouldn't cost you anything. However, if you have it at a private event space, you may be charged.
Also you can hear my poetry on RUclips. Willie Dearing Poet..
My first signing is in less than two hours.
So exciting! How did it go?

I simply made content and my subscribers grew.

No that's pretty much how the process goes.... a few people at a time. Unless something you do goes viral. Keep going! You're on the right track.
If my book is about God, will at church be a good venue?
Yes absolutely! I have a lot of clients that write in the spirituality and religion genre and they sell their books directly to churches.
@@thelifeofawriter ok thanks alot ❤️😊
So do you sell your books at a book signing?
Yes absolutely.
I'm too Introverted to engage..... goodness
