- There are few things more exciting than being able to share your book with readers. A great way to do that is at a book signing event. But, what do you need to do to prepare for that book signing event so you look like a professional? Book signings are possible again!!! So incredibly exciting!! There are several events coming to my local Barnes and Noble in the next few months that I can’t WAIT for!!
PS. My wife is always telling me I have too many tabs open on my phone too. :-P
hahaha thank you for making me feel better .... I just looked and I have 45.
I am excited for more IRL things again too - especially the little events that are at Saturday markets and bookstores. It will be more expensive for me though ... in December the outdoor market in downtown Summerlin had this amazing bookstore featured and I spent $100 on books!

Wow, I can't believe event booths never even entered my mind as a means of promoting my book. I guess with COVID, I've subconsciously removed most in-person options.

Julie, this is a great video and truly provides the "list" of what you need to do for a book signing or sale at any event! I think you should get coasters as #NBB swag, my guess is we'd all love them! I have purchased the silicone ones (for tradeshows) that can double as a bottle opener, hold your drinks on the pull town table on planes, and are super thin! Also, thanks for the "shoutout" as a YT "bestie" - I love your videos and the learning from your videos!
Oh that is a wonderful idea! It actually is on my list to investigate next week as I just ordered new booth materials and, again, have a white table cloth. :)

And the lime green was the color that I got, as it was for a company that had a green product! I kept a few and keep them in suitcases, backpack and next to my computer!

Thanks for the video. I'm getting ready to publish my second book, and my book signings have been going incredibly well. However, I know I can always do better with my events. What is a "speaker one" that you mentioned in your video? Also, you mentioned putting your book cover on the vertical banner. Doesn't that mean you have to shell out another $100 or more for another sign when your next book comes out? What kind of referrals do you recommend to put on the sign? Thanks!

A quick question: In one of your older videos you suggested making a logo and a publishing house name. That makes total sense. But I wonder if that changes the way one files taxes or registers a business? Can you still just be you and file an individual return, even though it doesn't look like you are "independently published?"
Your fictitious business goes underneath however you file - so personal taxes would just add the income and deduct the expenses. It's the same with the business. My company actually has several DBAs that operate under the C-Corp Name. It's easier than you think. You do need to set up the name with the bank for deposits though ... again it's easy to do after you have filed the paperwork for the DBA.

Can you put a link for the plastic display stand shelf you recommend?
I just took a look and don't see it. I think I got it at Staples but I don't see it. What we do now is take a white table cloth and cover a box and then place the books all around it with some little book stands.
It dosen’t matter how you say it if an album total 🟰 duration is about 29:25 and it has about 10 chapters it would considered a mini book 📕 📖 📚 but an album that has 8 chapters and the total 🟰 duration is about 49:37 it would consider as a full book 📖 📕 📚 to me it dosen’t matter how long or short the albums are but in my preference albums are books 📖 📚 📕.
I'm scared my crazy ex is gonna find me at one of these book signings though. She's gonna hack a hole through the door, shove her face in it and say, "Heeeeere's Debby!" as I shrink into the corner with a baseball bat and a copy of my book and metallic silver Sharpie.
