I shot this nearly 2 months ago, but out of respect for the maids themselves and the millions of maidiacs, I waited til after the extension of their live website show had completed. I hope this is ok to now post! Cheers and happy new years everyone :)
Good call. I paid for the extended ticket. I watched the show live from Wisconsin and have re watched it over and over and over. There are sooooo many cool moments in this 3 hour plus long show. This part gave me the chills and melted my heart. It is the most nervous I have ever seen Saiki and she nailed it.
We all know that Saiki is physically stunning, has bucket loads of charisma, is uber talented and is a smart, driven professional. But to unveil this side of yourself in front of a world wide audience and some 10 K or so in the building is just so fcken next level, nothing but the deepest respect for this Rock Goddess. Cheers 👍🍻
Checking the capacity of the arena it's actually 17,000. To get that many people to sit quietly during a rock concert is phenomenal. Truly a ROCK GODDESS!
Imagine being a beginner at piano and having your first recital in front of thousands of people at Yokohama arena along with thousands watching online. You could see her hands trembling. I admire her courage. I think her and Kanami really stole the show that night.
I think most of us didn't know Saiki was gonna play the piano. You should of heard the crowd react when Kanami walked away from piano and Saiki sat down. They were walking back up to the stage after they did 2 acoustic songs on another smaller stage in the crowd. Later in show they talked about how nervous she was and the reaction of the crowd to her playing the piano, and how Saiki understands the difficulty of playing and singing... referring to Miku.
This performance by Saiki raises my respect and love for her. I have always felt she was a great vocalist, but this performance shows that she is also an amazing musician. I hope that, in the future, we Maidiacs will get such beautiful songs like this. The silence of the audience really shows that she always has the audience in the palms of her hands. What a talented and charismatic vocalist.
Saiki started learning piano about two years ago and altough we've seen her play it's been very simple things. Not cords and runs like this has. This is her first public performance and it's at their largest venue as a one man show to date and being broadcast globally. At the beginning you can see her hands shaking, which she mentions later in the show.
This was the first time Saiki played piano in public. They wheeled out the piano while Saiki and Kanami qere finishing an accoustic set. I would guess that most assumed Kanami would be playing, but she walked off the stage while Saiki went to the piano. After seating herself, she leaned to the mic and said, "Bikkurishita?" ("Surprised?")
I watched this live and was blown away by this version. She did a good job on the piano and gave an emotion filled performance. I'd love to see Kanami do a solo piano performance and sing too. Congratulations to Saiki for this performance! I'd really like to see Akane doing some backing vocals too. She did a bit on the 2021 Christmas Acoustic set.
It will be interesting to see what surprises they pull for the acoustic concert this year. Saiki singing Daydreaming with Kanami on piano would be a treat
@@Kissthetoad321The Christmas acoustic show video is available on Band-Maid Prime along with 2018 Zepp and 2017 Studio Coast. It is a paid membership but well worth the cost.
2017 I first heard Saiki not knowing anything about the band itself . It was one of those audio compilations I believe . This performance just solidified within me I was right to learn more about the band . Never looked back
If you notice her last note on the piano was unresolved. I was there and thought that was odd then they killed us later with the "smartphone shoot" version. I was on the rail and caught some of her sweat (lol) as she walked by while singing and keep her mic position, Po! Thanks for sharing and rekindling this memory. 🦍🍌
I purchased the live stream concert long archive. Watched it every day. I was blown away by her piano version, and her voice is absolutely beautiful. so many good surprises in that show.
I witnessed her performance at Yokohama Arena! Yep, we all were laser focused on her performance, and there was no sound except her piano and singing voice. It was a mesmerizing performance😍 Btw, you should have started from her talk before piano playing. After she sat down, she said "Are you surprised?" and then "I take off my shoe" (she took one shoe off). Sai-chan was so cute❣😁
Love, LOVE this version - it's very emotional and moving. Off hand, the last time I remember something like this was Ella Henderson's cover of Cher's "Believe".
I tend to get a dead air response when I id as a member of TWA, but I have enough music appreciation bandwidth 2 allow me to be a fan of Band Maid in a major way. Saw them live in NashVegas and was fully converted from being a casual fan to a die-hard fan. U r being understated in ur description of their live performances. That show was a re-orienting experience. Can't wait for their live concert video to come out as a complete work. I am still trying 2 manifest a joint world tour with The Warning and Band Maid together.
This things are why I love this band that much and separate it from all the rest. They can go instrumental, maiko mode, do an acoustic concert, Miku can start a solo career over jpop music or Saiki can remodel a song on piano and not lose their essence, always surprise and always do good. You never know with them and I love to be part of the fandom, sharing timeline with these amazing performers. I finally got B-M's name and logo tattooed so they'll sure stay with me until I become bones and dust 🤘🕊️
I wonder whether Kanami had any thing to do with this?...Suggesting, tutoring?..Not saying she did..just interested...But can you imagine what Miku and Kanami are thinking off stage...Saiki playing Kanami's composition and singing Miku's lyrics...I bet there was tears of joy.
They did CHOOSE ME twice probably because Saiki uploaded a snippet of this on PRIME on January 2023. So she probably practiced this the whole year knowing they were adding this to the Yokohama performance. Plus they wanted to do it as a band because it's a very popular song. Peace. 64.5
Simple arrangement but delivered under her control, so the timing matched her emotive vocal. This was powerful and captivating. A great pianist might have overcooked/ruined it. From seeing a brief practice video on Prime...I was blown away that she had the balls to do it in this arena 👊❤👌
You don't give Band-Maid a 10 but to Saiki.😉 Nobody expected her to perform Choose Me on the piano for the first time and in this arena. How brave! One of the highlights of this fantastic show. Saiki proves that she has one of the most beautiful voices in rock. Thanks LBS.
I doubt Saiki played much piano before joining the band. Just like Miyako of Lovebites, Kanami had played since she was very young. Very capable piano player, and uses it when composing music. My guess she has been giving Saiki some lessons?

@@MrBryanwithay Hello fellow cheeser, did you by chance go to the Minneapolis show this past August?
During the end credits of this concert, they announced that they would be making a video work this spring. So it might be blocked.
There will be a DVD of this concert being sold soon, so don't be surprised if it gets blocked.
Yep not really happy that you are using this as they are releasing a bluray and dvd in springtime

She has a set on her, I would have been shaking to much to do it for the fist time at my 10 year anniversary concert. So Good!!!
Thank you so much for doing this one, I also had no idea she did a solo of this song, it was so good, teared up a bit to be honest.

Just when you think Saiki is already a genius at her craft- she then does this. The hand of Kanami is evident here, as with Miku's guitar playing.
Love, LOVE this version - it's very emotional and moving.

Last time they did the two versions of a song was puzzle normal then just saiki and kanami
They did an acoustic set of songs 2021 Christmas if I remember you did the song Catharsis acoustic
I see u pigeon
Not again :p .
Nice. It is obvious that she not is a piano pro. But ... the piano work is nicely done. Simple and effective.

Everyone in the band has grown so much over the years. They're so freaking awesome in so may ways I can't even describe it.

I believe this is Saiki's first ever public rendition (and that she started playing piano in the pandemic - could be wrong)
The collective sharp-intake-of-breath when she approached the piano (instead of Kanami) was audible
Not wrong. They did an interview when they released "Unseen World." In that interview, Saiki said that she was learning piano.
There was some shorts clips of Saiki playing "Choose Me" on piano released on Band-Maid Prime over a year ago.

This is more like a Piano Recital for Saiki-san. She's not a professional by any means. Still... this was super awesome! I loved it!
She's just a beginner. She's only been learning to play for the last 2 years or so.

How about a kanami and saiki duet on the piano rendition of daydreaming this would be epic
When they tried to practice it...they accidentally touched hands and Kanami fainted 😊
hahahahahaha
Piano arrangement was mint too.
