I would love either of these levels, depending on which child is using it. My oldest is starting 6th grade. Do you think level 1 would be too challenging, given that be hasn't had much formal exposure to word roots? Or do you think the beginning level is too simple/juvenile for this age?
I think beginning is fine to start with any kid without the background. My daughter who did it in 5th grade is very mature and advanced in most areas. It was not too easy or juvenile for her. I feel like jumping straight into the level 1 could be very frustrating. I feel like the graphics at the beginning are a bit “juvenile”, but it advances quickly…
We use the math, language smarts and mind benders. I really love their products and was considering word roots beginnings for my upcoming third grader. I would love to win the beginnings book for my daughter! Thank you!
I really appreciated how you presented these flip through. I just recently heard about this company and am anxious to use some of their materials soon. I missed that they had word roots curriculum which is exciting. Would love to win the BEGINNERS book to start this series off. Thanks for offering the giveaway treat
Congratulations! The first winner of this didn't get back to me, so... you have now won the Level 1. Please email at calminthechaoshomeschool@yahoo.com with your address so I can send it out to you.
I have a child going into 7th grade. He's a good reader, but a terrible speller and probably doesn't know the meanings of the prefixes and suffixes intuitively. Would the Beginner level be too easy or should a 13 year old definitely start the Level 1? It looks like the Level has a greater number of roots, but also a plainer presentation.
I honestly feel like it doesn't hurt to start with the Beginner level, unless your child already knows a lot of root words. I did not regret starting my daughter who has great spelling and a solid vocabulary on that in her 6th grade year.
Have you used anything from The Critical Thinking Company? What did you think?
Would love the beginning book! It looks better than I expected!
Great! Thanks for commenting!
Beginning Level looks like a great fit for my son. I love how it introduces the phonic concepts and the root words. Thank you for sharing
You are welcome!
First time I have seen this curriculum. I really like the layout. Thanks for the flip through. God bless 🥰

This was very helpful and I’ve been contemplating using word roots. Do you think your kids retained what they learned in an enjoyable way?
I know Anika enjoyed this one. But she learns things easily, so she did learn the words.
@@CalmintheChaosHomeschool did you feel that the program focused at all on Latin to teach the students words? Or just prefixes and suffixes?
I don’t feel like it’s particularly teaching Latin… just suffixes and prefixes.
Got it!

I’m would take a look at the inside of the beginner level. I don’t think it’s too easy in general. I personally would start with that.
