    Autocrat he may be, Mr. House is likely the best chance mankind has to get back on its feet as quickly as possible.
    Sure, the nuclear winter following the war may be over, but who knows what other long term effects of a thermo-nuclear exchange are still waiting around the corner, and there is no guarantee mankind will survive in any meaningful capacity if pre-war or more advanced technology isn’t rekindled soon.

      Counter point, he's not one to improve mankind on a Societal level. It does not concern him.
      He has no vested interest in people's lives at any level not even in a wider society sense. Only so long that he's on top, in control, and unchallenged.
      He has the man, robot, power to provide the security to the strip. Infact, instead of build a gambling empire He could have built another factory or public services but those services have costs, and business men hate upkeep and lost profits.

    • @joby5838
      @joby5838 2 месяца назад +27

      @@AirsickwordActually, first thing House mentions he's going to do is reignite industry, and that would require him to provide job spaces and educating people. He might seem like Factorio fan, but at the moment he doesn't have resources to make robots do all the job, so he will be forced to guarantee people way of living, that could let them sustain themselves so they could keep working for him. And considering it's a nuclear wasteland with USA and Rome wannabees dreaming about taking your land for their own profit, working 9 to 5 job on House factories sounds decent enough.

    • @joby5838
      @joby5838 2 месяца назад

      Also the point a lot of people miss is that House goal of going to space isn't some Musk kind scheme for Quick buck, it's the only long term plan that makes sense, considering the reason everyone nuked each other was lack of resources. NCR, Legion, Courier, no one can just bring back resources, they all will just live off dozens of years on what was left, and then collapse the same way pre-war countries did. Meanwhile House is going to use those resources to find new sources, which would give humanity much better shot of surviving in long-term. In the end, House managed to predict war 13 years prior to it, so him being concerned about state of Earth now means we're truly fucked.

    Having seen all 3 videos of you doing perfect faction soldier runs I have to say: it makes sense for the NCR to have more content than the legion and Mr. House combined. The Legion and Mr.House compared to the NCR are concetrated and though they have some problems, all they need to do is to just bash an overstreched and incredibly underpowered NCR. Whereas the NCR needs heavy organizational readjustments and morale boosts, as they are fighting a war which most of the npcs in the faction consider useless.

    Or learning about the NCR strays around Camp Mccarin and cleaning out the Fiend problem around the Wasteland with House's units to get more traffic toward the Strip.

    Apparently one of the main writers FNV said House literally doesn’t care about anyone and the Mojave is pretty much shit under his leadership apparently.
    I’m kinda annoyed by that, and the whole game feels pessimistic at that point; House has a massive ego and is extremely arrogant and narrow sighted when it comes to his future vision but it doesn’t feel very reasonable to say he couldn’t do any good for the Mojave.
    A man who’s been isolated for so long should be more humanized in my opinion and considering he was preparing for the apocalypse, he probably hoarded a great amount of books and knowledge in his database to make sure he wasn’t bored and that he had the best chance to recreate something resembling a society with tribes of people who are forced to be violent or who like being violent since there’s nothing stopping them.
    His plans revolve around preparing the the land around Vegas to send ships into space. The most logical way to do that is to have as many people as possible working jobs for him to contribute to the economy. Crimes against other people would mean losing a potential customer who could also be working for him and contributing to the economy by simply living their life as best as possible. People like the Omertas and the White Gloves who prey on others are not a good thing for a stable economy and House must know that.
    It’s strange that a guy who was orphaned at 2 years old and disowned by his older half brother and who started an enormous robotics company doesn’t have an interest in repeating that on a smaller scale when it’s the reasonable thing to do what he plans.
    The main characters in Fallout can be geniuses Messiahs with no ego or realistic human emotions, but a man who did all the stuff that House did, who traveled all over the Old World, has seen the end of the world and has lived in isolation for so long is simply an egomaniac and narcissist?
    I mean that’s perfectly reasonable and understandable, it’s just disappointing that they couldn’t write a single leader in the game that is morally grey but can be a good leader to do something with the Mojave. Mr House restored a small part of a city to start his economy and he did it with humans; it’s not something to take lightly in a world such as Fallout.
    George RR Martin is the champion of grey characters and said ruling is hard. Helping people without a plan for them to start helping themselves is not a good idea for a post apocalyptic world.
    The world events of FNV conveniently stop while the Courier does his quests but in hindsight House wouldn’t be able to make better decisions with the hand he had before the Courier’s arrival, and managing a city that can have inhabitants saying whatever shit they want about him unlike with Caesar isn’t something to ignore though the NCR does the same so that’s a good thing in their favor i guess.
    I don’t know, it just feels disappointing to have a man who’s lived in a time where human rights actually existed and who created a company that gave thousands of jobs to people be just another shit head on a power trip like so many others. I guess it’s realistic but still.

    • @joby5838
      @joby5838 2 месяца назад +12

      If it makes you feel better, I prefer "what said outside of game itself doesn't matter", and game portrays House as a cold, but efficient and rational leader, who would make life in Mojave managable, so, well, he has manpower to make his plans into reality. If they wanted to make him evil, they failed, because just making me kill BoS for pretty good reasons actually while treating everyone else fairly doesn't paints him as villain at all.

    • @mattiaachille233
      @mattiaachille233 2 месяца назад +1

      @@joby5838 I mean… his autocratic views make sense from a logical and rational standpoint. It’s the same thing that the ancient greek philosopher Socrates believed and he wasn’t completely wrong about democracies.
      If you want to read about what Socrates thought about democracies, you can actually understand the reason House says to look out the windows to see the results of democracies.
      And the Fallout TV show actually reinforced and somewhat justified House’s views on this. It’s not like House could go against all of Vault Tec or the American government or against communist China to save the world. He’s only one man and a very flawed one but he’s nothing compared to Caesar or Kimball who sends soldiers to die to conquer shit. Or world leaders who start nuking shit.
      Socrates said there is only one good; knowledge. And there is only one evil; ignorance.
      Not completely true of course, but if I had to live under an autocracy, I would probably prefer someone who knew what he was doing and has studied some shit at school and not a politician who simply does politics and deals with other rich people to have favors and secret support like a feudal or oligarchic system.
      Realistically, and this is a gigantic flaw, I think House feels every person outside the Lucky 38 is probably an horrible person or has been an horrible person at one point or another. I doubt he ever had to deal with employees who drugged and probably raped and killed their victims (the Omertas) this is the type of brutal savagery that would disgust anyone with basic empathy, never mind that House is also pre war. House couldn’t reform the White Gloves and the Omertas and force them to change their ways while the NCR entered the region to annex it, so he probably had to cull his moral views and start passing shit off as the unfortunate but disgusting ways of life of the new era. But his disgust is clear when he finds out the White Gloves are eating people.
      He’s probably thinking: “wtf? You’re living in a five star hotel with plenty of meat and food by brahmin barons and you decide to eat people? Just fuck off at this point. How do you even reform cannibals who just can’t let that shit go when they got everything they need to stop?”
      And Benny was a real snake too. Who did he think he was, that he thought he could do a better job than a guy who lived in a proper society that worked until other people in power decided to just go nuclear?
      House must have felt like a colossal idiot for having let the Mojave be hit by the nukes when he could have had the platinum chip sooner than his calculations for the war indicated. He would have saved a lot of people by that alone and could have started rebuilding the Mojave immediately instead of falling into a coma and losing a lot of the land and infrastructure to the nukes.
      A good Karma or even a neutral karma Courier could probably make him think that not all wastelanders are so bad after all but of course, it’s a game not a book about life in an apocalypse.
      A lot of players do just hate House because he’s arrogant but… of course he is. Who wouldn’t be in his shoes?
      They probably killed him off in the TV show. No way he would’ve left the Mojave lawless and defenseless. He needed to make the NCR retreat before dealing with Fiends and criminal gangs in the way to the Strip. Can’t have tourists and workers looking for a better life just get killed by those wastes of space in my opinion and I think he’d agree. Otherwise, the Securitron army is just left there to gather dust and look pretty.
