What’s the PDT rule? Bohen fully breaks it down and explains how it’s the epitome of one of Bohen’s favorite Ronald Reagan quotes…
“The nine most terrifying words in the dictionary are ‘I'm from the government and I'm here to help.’”
The PDT applies to accounts under $25,000 - BUT only margin accounts. Need clarification? Tune in to learn the differences between margin and cash accounts.
This rule came about because of the the dot-com boom when people were overtrading. So the government stepped in and decided traders needed protection from themselves.
Enter the PDT, a regulation where you can only enter and exit the same ticker in one day three times in a rolling five day period.
A lot of new traders with small accounts despise this rule. But you can trade around it…
Bohen shows you how to trade around the PDT, using Arcadia Biosciences Inc. (NASDAQ: RKDA) an example. You gotta see this!
Also, learn why time of day is essential to avoid burning through your day trades. He’ll also share what happens if you burn all of your day trades…
How to save your day trades…
And he has the #1 contingency you must know. Catch it all in today’s video.
Drop a comment. How has the PDT affected your trading? Let us know!

Another way to get around the PDT rule is have multiple accounts with different brokers. If you have accounts with 3 different brokers, you got 9 day trades for the week.
I have ToS and have a margin account and a cash account set up…once you use your three day trades you can actually transfer those funds to your cash account and the funds are immediately available…then just manage how you want between accounts knowing that the option to transfer between is available…you get more trades that way 👍🏾…trading options is great because cash is settled same day versus 2 days for stocks in cash account
Wait... PDT doesn't apply to Cash Accounts?? I thought it was for any account under $25k (In America of course.) That would be a huge game changer! I keep hearing different answers everywhere I go. Don't know what is true..
Thanks TIm! I needed to hear this! As always, I appreciate your content :)
Had a Robinhood margin account and didn't even know what a cash account was until I got a new broker. Cash account is so much better if you stick to going long cause it helps with risk management of using smaller size per trade and not having to worry about how many day trades you've made.
It can be a great tool.
Thanks Tim for ALWAYS giving helpful info. I have been watching and learning for the last year and I just learned something new about PTD that I didnt know so again Thank YOU 🙂
And AGRI closed at 4.34 today 😉
Thanks Tim, this was some really awesome information! Had not considered yet trying to focus on afternoon trades but with a small account I'm definitely going to try this to boost my success rate!
You got it! 👍
Thanks again for this golden advice! I especially liked how you broke down how the PDT could be navigated through!
Glad it was helpful!
I love your content, thanks Tim!
I appreciate it! 🙌
Thanks for the info! I recently became a subscriber to your service and I hope to learn a lot. I'm a small cash account and thought I was subject to the under 25k rule and have been trading as such. This is great news!
Glad to help!
Perfect timing man!
Thanks Tim Bohen you full of good knowledge. I appreciate you sharing and teaching us newbies.
Thanks for the kind words!
Completely agree Tim. Protecting capital is most important with a small account.
🙌👏
Hey Tim if you trade a stock say at 3:30pm then hold till next day pre market and sell into the spike is will that fall under the next day or same day trade? Thanks.
Hi Tim, thanks for the breakdown. If I understand you correctly, please provide feedback on the following example:
Under PDT (margin) I have 3 trades per 5-day business week (M-F).
Assuming I have a $2K Cash Account and my broker/platform gives me 4:1 margin, I'd have $8K of buying power but could only trade 3x (round trip- open close cycle) in a 5 day business week.
So I could PDT M-W-F and then the following week I'd have another PDT opportunity for M-W-F
Could I cash acct trade on Tues and Thurs?
Another one for my Star Vids folder. Thank you, Tim!
Enjoy!
Thanks for the insight!
Glad it was helpful!
Gotta love this man! 🙏🏻💪🏻
Thanks!

Watched this video 3/23/2022 on a lunch break minutes after it was released. Mostly review but some good key points …. will edit later.
awesome!
I need 3 thousand to get over PDT rule
so close!
Always gets me. Too much waiting
you got this!
One downfall of holding overnight is if there is early bad news and stop gaps down big, most people with small accounts have brokers that cannot trade until 7am(est),so you are stuck holding a loser with no ability to sell until 7am.
Yes, you have to be careful holding overnight!
PDT is Class Warfare
AGRI closed at 3.28 today
👍
I worked with a guy who does that. He'll hold onto a stock for however long it takes to come back...days weeks or months.
Wow!
Just watching this now cause I have a 10 K account and AGRI is trading at .16 cents
study hard!! check out our trial!
AGRI is at $1.94
.96 cents😭😭agri
No i think it was to protect the economy from both, round trips from non pros above a certain number can trigger imploding an asset.
Let's start a petition to ditch the PDT rule, because clearly the path to financial enlightenment shouldn't be blocked by a time-of-day curfew. After all, they say the road to heaven is paved with bad intentions! 😇😂
