Scenes from the Spring Festival at Shinmei Shrine (Ishigami-san) in Ōsatsu, Mie prefecture.This festival features many local Ama (women divers). Ōsatsu is the settlement in Japan with the most Ama. The overwhelming majority of Ama in Japan (and all of those in Ōsatsu) are women, who dive into the sea without air tanks and can hold their breath for up to 2 minutes underwater.
５月７日の「磯日待」という海女さんの安息の日に、大漁祈願と大願成就を祈ってのお祭りがありました。
