Harry Potter & Sherlock Holmes are missing. And an honorable mention for Jim Carrey's Grinch
True
Well those are both book characters.
@@landonhudson9726 Joker and Wolverine are comic book characters tho and still on the list
Agree with #20, 17, 12, 11, 9, 8, 4 and 2.
Not on the list.... Eric Draven- The Crow, Steve Rogers/Captain America, Rose Sayer- The African Queen,
Curtis Everett- Snowpiercer, Alex(Cher)- The Witches of Eastwick, Severen- Near Dark, Claudia- Interview With The Vampire, Inspector Thompson(Stephen Fry)- Gosford Park.
vito Corleone and James Bond not iconic to you?
Ngl I haven’t watched watch mojo in a long ass time but this is a good asss video keep making shit like this and the masses will watch
Choosing just 1 Star Wars character is beyond difficult.
I would choose sooo uncivilized charecter and u know what I mean
Hans Landa is one of the, if not THE, most iconic characters of all time.
My other favorites are Katsumoto from the Last Samurai, William Wallace from the Braveheart, and Chow Yun-Fat's character from the Killer (1989).
God bless the creators of all of them.
I must also add Faora Ul with her powerful one-liner "a good death is it's own reward"
I'm disappointed Caesar from the new Apes trilogy isn't in here.
What a fantastic, brilliant, heroic and tragic character that was.
One of the absolute best.
The fact that Tony Stark isn't on the list or even honorable mention shocks me.
Lol Bruce Wayne deserve more imo.
@@hurricane4384 Nah....
Go watch cartoon
@Raimi Forever yet is now more popular then batman and is the face of marvel
Nah, Tony Stark is a comic book character.
Val Kilmore's Doc Holiday is overlooked again. Damn.
Val KILMER, not Val Kilmore. Lord Jesus in Heaven have mercy, Val Kilmore sounds like the name of a pro wrestler.
Christian Bale's Batman and Heath Ledger's Joker.
Just Heath Ledger's Joker more. Since his the true show stealer in it.
His portrayal of Dick Cheney in the movie *Vice* was good as well.
@@oofoof12814 That's one reason why I can't take Christian Bale's Batman serous anymore, All I can is "I thought he was a Clown?"
@@megalon73 if we're talking about character wise solely the joker is kinda one note there are deeper and better written characters such as comic batman and Arthur Morgan from red dead redemption :)
@@ghostofdeath663 What does, Arthur Morgan. have to do with Comic book character going to the Big screen and play by talent actors? His a video game character. Plus we all know games are great on becoming live action.
Robocop is badass and should have been on this list for sure
Some iconic, possibly missing, movie characters:
- Al Pacino’s Michael Corleone (The Godfather Franchise)
- Al Pacino’s Tony Montana (Scarface)
- Charles Chaplin’s Hynkel (The Great Dictator)
- Cristoph Watlz’ Col. Hans Landa (Inglourious Basterds)
- Cate Blanchett’s Queen Elizabeth I (Elizabeth Franchise)
- Harrison Ford’s Han Solo (Star Wars Franchise)
- Paul Newman’s Eddie Felson (The Hustler & The Color of Money)
Whenever I see the ending of Terminator 2, it hits me in the feels. The Robot learned to be human.
Tony Stark in the intro and not even on the list
Clickbait+well-deserved he isn't in top
Robert Downey Jr. also played Sherlock Holmes so did many other actors and that character was not mentioned either.
peter parker and bruce wayne deserved more
My man Captain America should have been on the list he was the pinnacle of my childhood and is the face of The MCU,
It called an example
Where’s Tyler Durden(Fight Club), The Bride(Kill Bill), Leonidas(300), or Calvin Candie(Django), or Jack(Titanic)?
Which one? Norton or Pitt, they’re both great to me!!
batman?
the bride (kill bill)?
superman?
dracula?
Mad max?
Robert McCall?
Vincent Vega?
beetle juice?
Much respect to Brando’s portrayal of Vito corleone but I think most would agree that Michael Corleone is the more interesting and more complex character. This list was littered with great characters but there’s none on here that outdo Michael Corleone
Vito had better and more memorable lines though. His speaking manner also made him stick immediately in the minds of the viewers.
Deserved Mentions:
Kikuchiyo - Seven Samurai
Jules Winnfield - Pulp Fiction
Atticus Finch - To Kill a Mockingbird
Shaft - The Shaft Franchise
Ellis Boyd Redding - The Shawshank Redemption
Deloris Van Cartier - Sister Act
The Oracle - The Matrix
Sheriff Bart - Blazing Saddles
Willy Wonka - Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory
Dr. Frank N. Furter - The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Cheech and Chong - The Cheech and Chong Series
Napoleon Dynamite - Napoleon Dynamite
Smokey - Friday
Anton Chigurh - No Country for Old Men
Also, not really trying to start any sort of social debate, but seems pretty apparent that (apart from James Earl Jones’s voice), all of the characters that made the list are white. Seems to say something more about the history of Hollywood than anything else, but some of the characters listed above could’ve easily fit into this list too really.
Also Michael Corleone and Sherlock Holmes and Mrs Doubtfire
Also, Ignacio(Nacho Libre)
Luke Skywalker
Captain America
Batman
Kylo Ren
Han Solo
Simba
Freddy Krueger and Iron man are my all time favorites!!!
@Kaylin Doen Imma say it... he's better the Jason. *prepares for the hate comments*
The Phantom Split im sure a majority agree with you. Freddy is arguably the more popular character
Batman Superman Darth Vader Luke Skywalker Han Solo Jason Voorhees Ghost Face and Wonder Woman are some of mine
@Kylo Ren Doyle oh yeah love that move V is freakin awesome
@@thephantomsplit no hate love Freddy "Welcome to primetime B****!" But you gotta hand it to Jason. Freddy makes me laugh with his jokes more than Jason does and Jason is the overall more let's say creative killer I just think he is better and more iconic. When anyone sees a hockey mask now they think of Jason
What about Top 20 Movies Critics Loved but Fans Hated?
Number 1 would probably be The Last Jedi. Personally tho, im not a critic and i LOVE that movie, imo 2nd best starwars after Empire
Mother!
greywolf 18 it was boycotted due to its disregard of expectation
Probably Cuties
vivarium
"The force is strong with you, young Skywalker..." Classic! Vader's my fave movie villain!
Honestly, I was surprised no character was brought up from the Back to the Future franchise, like Biff Tannen or Doc Brown, or Marty McFly, for that matter. Guess they weren't iconic enough to be mentioned... 😅
I nominate Keyser Söze. A character and a MacGuffin at the same time.
Hannibal Lecter is just the best for me. Awesome character.
I lust LOVE your voice, Rebecca!!!!!!! Brings a smile to my face!!!!
Thank you :)
@@WatchMojoLady You're NOT Rebecca weirdo.
@@thebeatnumber If you say so 👍
@@WatchMojoLady Hold on a minute... I just clicked on your profile and now I'm confused (which seems to be my natural state these days) Are you REALLY Rebecca, or just an impersonator?🤔
@@thebeatnumber It me. Plus, I'm really not famous enough for an impersonator?
you guys need to make a part 2 to this, so many greats not here.
Maybe we can find a spot for these characters:
- Snow white
- Furiosa (Mad Max)
- Hermione Granger
- Jack Dawson (Titanic)
😁
Yes
There are many. The Mask, Spider-man, Superman, The Crow, Harry Potter, Letherface, Tyler Durden and many other. This list is fair but we need a part 2
Knowing watchmojo lately f*ing Olaf's gonna be number one
When I upgraded my old VHS stuff to DVD I cried watching T2 again as a grown man when he sacrifices himself
The "thumbs up" will always get me, every time, too.
Powerful scene
I think it's the best sequel ever made. I haven't seen the others and just pretend they don't exist.
@@lynninpain wow exactly
These characters are great because on how the actors portrayed them
Credit for a list that truly encompassed all of cinematic history.
Of course number one HAD to be James Bond 👏👏
Atticus Finch in To Kill A Mockingbird is definitely an all time great
there was a reference from die hard in stranger things "you can't kill me." "oh yea?" "youre a policeman. policeman have rules" if ur wondering where in stranger things this was it was in the episode where Alexei AKA slushie russian adorable man gets shot and where they are at a carnival and joyce, hopper and murray are running from a russian DONT EXPECT ME TO KNOW ALL THE NAMES OF THE RUSSIANS
I'm surprised you missed George Bailey. Only one movie to his credit and yet he's beloved for decades of Christmases, every year. A one man morality play.
James Stewart always said that that was his favorite film role.
Great video, as always!!!! Jason Bourne I thought we'd see!!!!
This should be a top 50 video in the future
It seems like a reasonable list, as I have heard of all these, even though I saw only a few. I would have thought Harry Potter would have got mentioned, but think you did well all the same.
Jack Sparrow should’ve been on the list! Not an honourable mention.
"The name is bond....James bond"
"2:41"
"When I am such a big fan of bond"
So what bond is always number 1
I wish they would have shown clips from Roger Moore as well. He was my favorite Bond. He played it with such humor. It's a snub they didn't include him.
Fully agreed on Mikkelsen played it on the series and had pretty much the same response. Kind of like the Joker, when so many good actors can render a good version of the character, the character definitely has a rol to play
Although Stark is played over a green screen, and most of it is CGI. Stark is the one who inspired an entire generation of superhero movies which should atleast get him an honorable mention
Though pirates of the caribbean is not in my favourite movie list but captain jack sparrow will always be my favourite character of all time
Agree!
Here my top 3 favorite movie characters
1. Tony Stark/Iron Man - MCU
2.. James Bond-The James Bond Franchise.
3.Thor -MCU
Note: my two favorite portrayals of Bond are Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan
Neo is in honorable mentions... The one who changed the whole Action genre...
Who would you put him over though?
Great list.
Could not agree more with #1
🔫📡💎⌚🍸
Nice list. I'd add Nurse Ratched in someplace since she could execute cunning evil while being highly subdued at the same time. Very complex without much emotion.
Also, I'd add Batman and Superman to the list or honorable mention
