Crises reveal how a leader handles pressure... Here I think he shows he can appear overemotional and condescending at times (says Singaporeans "anyhow use" mask, "idiots", etc), not reassuring or inspiring enough in times of crisis. Can be a good "ops" type of leader but not the main man like PM. Why ashamed of the singlish accent. 🤣

Even GOH CHOK TONG was chinese edcuated and mr LKY sent him to spruce up his english. after years he could speak quite well. worthy of a PM. well right at the start they said there’s no need for us to wear masks until the increase in dormitory cases then they said “oH weAR MASK NOW” then everyone started wearing like wtf ??
That is because our capacity to make them has increased and supply is no longer an issue. Duh?!
Populist never learn, the fallacy that LKY predicted
Crises reveal how a leader handles pressure... Here I think he shows he can appear overemotional and condescending at times (says Singaporeans "anyhow use" mask, "idiots", etc), not reassuring or inspiring enough in times of crisis. Can be a good "ops" type of leader but not the main man like PM. Getting the job done is one thing but doing it in a way which rises above the pressure to inspire, reassure and believe in your own people is another. But understand that it was a very tough period at the time.
OMG hearing this....how I yearn to hear the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew speak. Such charisma. Such eloquence. The good old days.
Market english. How come he became a minister in the first place ?
American president cannot understand him his english.
I feel like Lee Kuan Yew would have scolded Singaporeans too but still we can tell that it comes from a place of genuine care and loyalty for his people.
He talked sense. I find it funny how many of your fellow Singaporeans think low and make fun of CCS because of his accent which is in turn a result of his language background and one that is shared by many if not the majority of Singaporeans.

@@lfg5555 only men in white lackeys laughing along. And they wont be laughing at the expense of Singaporeans for long...
@@lfg5555 Quite the opposite. A good politician should remain critical of the general public despite potential backlashes against him or her electorally. The electoral system has created an unhealthy culture where the idea of "people" has been sanctified and thus it's becoming essentially taboo for anyone to express negative opinions about "the people". Do realize that most of the issues politicians are dealing with are societal in nature, how do you expect governments to handle issues if the society at large cannot be reprimanded in the face of irrational behavior and dangerous trends? This used to be the plague for many other nation states running on electoral systems albeit less so for SG. The recent development of a populist tendency in SG might have dire consequence for your city state. Take responsibility instead of embracing an antagonizing mentality. There is no question that this man is all for the betterment of SG. Criticize him as well. I think his pinpointing of the problem remains valid although his rhetoric strategy needs work.
@@markvms4377 They should. Especially when comments directed at irrationality are simply dismissed as insults. Citizens should not be exempt from ridicule and criticism. Politicians alone cannot make things right.
