My friend and I doing specific training starting from Closed Guard. This type of training will allow you to set the position and winning conditions (ie. reset once you've passed, or once you've escaped, or once you've submitted etc) to whatever you'd like, so that you get to practice and fine-tune positions you may otherwise only briefly experience in normal sparring.
So interesting that you baited the back step into saddle to get him to try and get his right knee behind the crook of your right knee, and used that to pass on the other side. Wow.
I agree that was neat!!
That squat escape is for ME!! I have so much trouble escaping the closed guard, I always get either swept or triangled. And I really like that de la riva pass. I noticed the pant grab so he cannot hook you when you do the back step… very important
You put a lot of great content here lately. Super helpful for developing my game.
Gosschh... That's noice...
Cool homez. Good stuff. Helps me learn.

Is this squat escape at 0:50 legit? I haven't seen that before. 😂
You got love from Jax FL.

I've noticed you wear your Kodokan belt for BJJ as well as Judo. Is that a conscious choice for a reason or just because its easier than having to think about whether you have the right belt for whatever it is your training for that session.
To be honest I just really like the belt 😁 I also compete in it by taping a white bar on one end. The belt has embroidery that says "Jita-Kyoei", which translates to "mutual prosperity", which I really resonate with.
@@DubiousDom Nice. Yeah 'mutual prosperity' is a philosophy we should applyboth on and off the mat. Everytime we train though, whether it's a BJJ roll or Judo Randori it should be for each persons mutual benefit. This is at the very core of Judo. Love it!! 😍
