'Here, I'll just move that small stick so that I can lay down. I'm exhausted!' Too funny! When I need a mood enhancer, teenage eagle tantrums are the vids I watch, works like a charm!
I'm always amazed how patient eagles are with their chick's. They take it all in stride, even though Lotus is a first time mom she seems wise beyond her years and what better father could an eaglet have than the beloved Mr.P.
Completely agree, they are truly wonderful parents! And even though I called it a "temper tantrum" in the title, it's really an eaglet showing exactly the kind of behavior it will need for survival when it is on its own. If the parents take notice of it at all, it could be with an eagle's version of approval - "it's a tough world but my kid's gonna do just fine out there!" 🙂
This little guy was always entertaining. It is nice to have these videos to look back on some of those moments. I hope Takota is out there living a great eagle life, staying healthy and well fed!♥️
For some reason when the eaglets get to a certain age…they want that nest and tree to themselves! I’ve seen it before. Yes, just like a teenager! But…I believe the parent eagles love to see that independence forming in their kids. Something they must have before they fly the coop! ♥️🦅 Thanks for sharing! 😊
Glad you enjoyed it! I agree the parents always seem to accept that behavior as expected & natural - "We are ready for our vacation, time for you to start thinking for yourself!" 😄
Ha ha, cute description---how fun that Takoda was a little upset that Mom was on HIS/HER branch, lol!! A brooding season is never complete without a good old fashion temper tantrum! Thank you CM! -Hugs 🤗
I love watching Eagles and their Eaglets they all seem to be the same and act the same and yes she or he is just being an eaglet but those tantrums are so adorable because they’re trying to get to their parents attention like to irritate them letting them know I didn’t get enough food bring me some more food or I’m bored and the parents seem to shrug it off and pisses them off more it is hilarious I love them all egrets are the same and it is so hilarious I love Eagles the Eagles they’re awesome at that age it’s so funny they’re smart they know how to have attitudes and it’s so cute it’s like the terrible twos and a mom just shrugged it off adorable!!
Yes and even though we can never truly know what they're thinking, perhaps in eagle terms it may even be a point of pride for them, or at least satisfaction that their kid is doing exactly what an eagle should be doing. An aggressive eaglet is an eaglet that will survive! 😃
Ha proprio un bel caratterino questo Takoda! Sentilo come strilla! Sarà contenta ed orgogliosa di lui la sua mamma, ha allevato uno splendido e coraggioso aquilotto😁😁🦅
There is a slight difference in behavior (based on all the nest I've saw) between a single eaglet vs 2 or 3 in the nest. They are more dominant, aggressive and possessive because they don't have a rival to fight for the nest territory or food. Is like taking for granted that everything belong to them and they have it more easy when time for food. The positive thing is that they are more well taken care and well feeded but the negative one is they didn't learn to fight with a rival (sibling) for food. Aside 2 eaglets is bonding too, play and fight. But always happy to see a healthy beautiful eaglet.
LOL after watching Gabby at NEFL last year actively work to teach solo eaglet Legacy to be MORE aggressive, I think these parents are probably very content that their youngster is showing such promising eagle-behavior. "Whew - less work for us!" 😄
First time watching this eagle on eaglet and it was just my view of opinion it seems that they have tantrums amor when they’re the only eaglet born it is so funny love Eagles!
The passing of the perch. Originally was Mr P's, then Lotus claimed it, now it's Takoda's He spent all of last night on it, sleeping upright. Thanks, I missed that bit where he reclaimed it!
It's actually POSITIVE behavior in an eaglet, who will need to be aggressive and feisty and ready to fight to survive on its own. I'm not suggesting the parents consciously think "good, good, keep it up, kid!" when the eaglets fuss and squeal and fly at them, but it's expected and accepted behavior. At NEFL 3 years ago Gabby seemed to try to taunt and tease her solo, slightly spoiled and easy-going eaglet to make it behave MORE aggressively about food! Once it had a lesson and passed the follow-up pop quiz, Gabby appeared satisfied that she was raising a fierce little raptor with the skills it would need. ruclips.net/video/8vaPhEQ2n1Y/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/HnL3gNJcrMs/видео.html

The parent handled it in just the right way. Ignoring the tantrum. "Your tantrum will not get you anything."

I'm glad you enjoyed it! What a special season for the DC nest.
Oh my goodness! Looks like my daughter when she was young!!!!

Yes, I have been noticing the exact behavior while comparing other nests!

He needs a nap!!!!!
Good to see! Your video popped up in my feed. Only six months ago? He fledged on Father’s Day, didn’t he? ❤
He sure did - Sunday June 19th. 🙂
This is GREAT GREAT FOOTAGE YOU CAUGHT HERE!!
Thank you - glad you enjoyed it! All credit to the wonderful AEF cam-ops!
That's from being an only child and not having to share food or nest, but could help out in real world.

Lol! My sentiments Exactly!!!!

I think it may look that way because with two or three they get out all that same amount of energy squabbling with each other! 😄
This way it's easier for us to let those teenagers move on to the next stage of their lives!!😂
I love the way the parents take it in stride - they're seeing exactly what they expect and want to see in a thriving youngster! 😀
