    What a luminary! I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing him conduct many different orchestras but had never questioned the man behind action. He seems like a real cosmopolitan, but in the most human sense, one of the rare incidents where you don‘t see or feel any specific traits reflected from ethnical, cultural senses, but simply exhibits the human spirit. Much awe and gratitude for a brilliant interview!

    One Like Button is not enough for videos like this one. Next to that, it’s lovely to see the beautiful Chiemsee. As a Bavarian myself, it makes me very happy to see that people from all around the world appreciate our home.

    Maestro Nagano's recording of Busoni's Doktor Faust really brought home to me the full radiance of the score. Kent is describing 'the sublime' as artists of the 19th century understood the word. A terrible and unsettling beauty.

    Being a Montrealer, I've had the great pleasure of listening to the MSO conducted by Mr. Nagano many, many times. I thoroughly enjoyed every performance as I enjoyed this insightful interview. And, how timely... as the Leonard Bernstein biopic is about to be released in theaters.

    Kent Nagano’s humility and self- awareness gives us insight into his musical soul. His ability as a conductor with the outstanding Russian pianist Mikhail Pletnev in performances of Mozart. Beethoven , Schubert and other composers show hours and hours of practice to produce beauty.

    The comment about the concert with Maestro K.N. conducting and Russian pianist as soloist - they performed "Jazz-Suite". is addressed to conductor and it means that despite the concert took place 10 years ago when he (K.N.) demonstrated his unique style agreed by even most professional musicians and captivating every listener as being exquisite is beyond any doubt whatsoever when there passed 10 years - he still demonstrates amelioration on the highest level. The time is in his favor.

    Every time listening to your perception of mostly musical or connected to music events I am witnessing the new depths of how human (your particularly) brain can find the description of the same phenomenon but much more diverse from time to time - what happens is refinement due to gaining an experience as musician and as human and by that enriching public understanding - of music-people - even if they hear current performance not for the 1st time - the connoisseurs having fun of music comprehensively - and those following the professional development of the conductor /orchestra / self-impression of the same piece by not-the 1st time - comparing in every possible way .

    What a thoughtful man! I first encountered Maestro Nagano through his work with Frank Zappa. And most recently I am thrilled to be listening to his wonderful Messiaen recordings in the recent BR Klassik 3 disc set. If you are a fan please look for his autobiography, Expect the Unexpected.

    You can be very emotional and artistic on the podium, but it will affect the audience in the hall, and only in that moment. What matters is the result - what the next listeners will hear from the concert recording. This is why I like conductors like Richard Strauss, Karl Böhm, Zubin Mehta and Kent Nagano!

    Yes - I"ve listened for another time the interview with Maestro K.N. and "insulated" his expression about "terrorism" in his way - the emotionally high state - very thrilling / exaggerated adrenalin secretion . Of course when the phenomenon will disappear (how it can be possible!?) it will be the sign of utmost fall to maximal negligence to everything cherished / not only connected to music. ( How sad this is experienced nowadays) . It shows complete disappear of ethics witnessed among certain parts of "society".

      It’s an excerpt of Beethoven First Piano Concerto, from the second movement! The pianists are Zlata Chochieva, who was featured in her own episode of the series, as well as Zsolt Bognár, the host. Thank you for watching! ✨

    The another controversial statement in your interview - at least to me - was that there is beauty in even very tragic experiences like death / disappointment .... But let me remind that these phenomenons are known as "oxymorone" meaning the use of polarly events in 1 expression - the 1 "blow" / "exhale"... So maybe as the description - in order to use an "interesting" combination it sounds controversial only . But in reality these 2 events cannot occur at once

    • @Living-the-Classical-Life
      @Living-the-Classical-Life  10 месяцев назад

      It might be a question of what these words mean to an individual-but ultimately what he seems to be saying is that there is a humanistic beauty in the experience of a wide variety of life events, that indeed go beyond good/bad polarity. It is food for thought ✨

  • @ritamonkovich1469
    @ritamonkovich1469 10 месяцев назад

    Maestro - do you support terrorism? Or I didn't understand exactly - " When terrorism will disappear we will consider retirement" - these are your words? Hope I interpret wrong or here is hidden the significance beyond commonly accepted concept?

    • @Living-the-Classical-Life
      @Living-the-Classical-Life  10 месяцев назад +1

      It is a pull quote from the conversation-the full context happens later, if you happen to watch it. 😉 He is talking about nerves on stage.

  • @ritamonkovich1469
    @ritamonkovich1469 10 месяцев назад

    If you refer to the philosophy of the Eastern people - for example the Hindus - the whole nation believes that the life begins only after the death - it's very convenient to them to justify the style of life without formal education / work on all levels of qualification etc. because of climate unfriendly conditions generally... If to speak about any religion - it appeared when the science did not exist and only divine-interference left the people to accept an occurrence of everything.

  • @ritamonkovich1469
    @ritamonkovich1469 10 месяцев назад

    Firstly I want to make it precisely - the events used polarly can not be those on 1 "breath" (this is right word for the matter of discussion). The approach to the root of interpretation that you call "humanistic" seems to me as "straw" to defend your position which is - sorry - but artificial. And what I want to add is that I watched repeatedly the video of 10 years old "Jazz-Suite" with you and Russian pianist and I have to say that time still is in favor to you . Take care.

    • @Living-the-Classical-Life
      @Living-the-Classical-Life  10 месяцев назад

      We respect your opinion, though it seems simplistic and with nothing to explain further what you mean, and do not find ours artificial-just read any western and especially eastern philosophy, not our opinion, about this sort of supposed polarity as ego-imposed artificiality. In any case we are putting forth the stories of our guests-and we thank you for watching. You seem to be confused. It was Mr. Nagano who put forth the idea that there is beauty in sadness-one example we can suggest of this concept, musically, is anything from Schubert. We are not Mr. Nagano; this is the channel of Living the Classical Life and our team. We do not understand the remark about the jazz Suite and a Russian pianist? Do you refer to Mr. Nagano collaborating somewhere? We suggest you tell him, not us. 😉
