Thanks, Sterling. Very helpful - just installed a motion detector by following your instructions. Installation very easy but if you haven’t done it recently, it can be a little confusing. Also, I appreciate the always helpful and friendly staff at Alarm Grid.
Several questions- How long do sensor batteries last? Do the motion sensor batteries die quicker than door sensors? Can battery health be checked thru the panel? Over the years I have experienced false alarms all of which have been triggered by a motion sensor, but I never received a low battery warning. On a earlier system it occurred when the system was 3 years old. I just had a newer system, Lynx 5200 motion sensor (2 years old) trigger a false alarm. Do you have a recommendation on when to replace batteries to prevent false alarms?
Great video, but I have a question. I want to install a 5800PIR-RES motion in my shed, but it has sheet metal siding and won't allow the RF signal to reach the Lynx panel in my home. Is there a way to extend the signal of the motion sensor? for example, wiring it into a 5816WMVH sensor which I can place on the exterior of my shed and then relay the motion sensors signal to the Lynx? Thanks.
You could go with a 5800RP to act as a repeater for the motion. This may be hindered by the metal walls of the shed but would be the best choice, the 5816wmvh can only be used with other door contacts.
Thank you. Perhaps you can help me with one more question. I have a similar lynx touch panel system and I have the installer code. When I enter the code, I see the option that says "program", but when I touch it, nothing happens. The system doesn't allow me to hit program and move forward to add sensors. Am I missing something?
Hello, If you're locked out of programming there is a way to get back in. Here is an FAQ and video regarding how to get back into programming: www.alarmgrid.com/faq/how-do-i-get-into-programming-on-my-honeywell-lynx-touch
hey man,i find your videos easy to understand and i learn much however you dont speak to range , so im asking how far away from the keypad will the transmitter be able to receive good signal ? im interested in the 5811 transmitter in particular because its slim line.thanks

Howard, thank you for your feedback. We appreciate all feedback, but it's always nice when it's positive. :)

Buenos dia me gustaria saber como puedo poner mi panel a comunicar con una sentral de monitoreo
But if you dont see a light and your key pad is not near it how do you know you tripped the motion unless you see the keyboard
