Hi Jeremy am from Africa was asking how is it possible for students who love to learn jazz but totally can’t read music? What are the best options sir?
5:46 Only watched to this point while taking a break from working on a piece I'm developing. This is just the inspiration I needed. I'll be back to watch the rest in a while. :)
So much to scare/depress in this modern world..& yet, the marvel too. Another superb lesson pops into my YT ‘in tray’ ..as always so well presented & jam packed with great information to keep one, ( well certainly, me!), going for eons. Thanks, as always, Jeremy. I will raise a glass (🤔 maybe a G&T?) to you when the time comes. And to anyone reading this who hasn’t yet bought the books, I can highly recommend - as good as you would be expecting from these tutorials: in a complex art form having a clearly taught & paced pathway is invaluable- absolute bargain!
Any chance you're going to make more videos expanding on this? Adding ii's to the V's, side stepping, maybe other elongated single chord techniques like CESH and I II- III- II- kind of stuff
Blue in Green, Solar, Tune Up, I wonder what else Miles ripped off. The Barry Harris alternating a major 6 with the diminished built on the flat 9th of the dominant is a somewhat similar idea, but thinking of altered dominants has more sophisticated possibilities. Is that an oriGINal architecTONIC?
These are clever means of reharmonizing a tune. Taking hours/days to read a single measure accurately in Playing Solo Jazz Piano at 25 bpm. I could use a Gin & tonic right now ☠️
Thanks for checking out the book. 25 bpm sounds like...too slow. It sounds like it's not the right level for you. I'd start with some more piano fundamentals and come back to it. 😢
Jeremy, I would like to buy your books but I prefer spiral bound. Would you say that it is possible to put your books on the piano music stand and use them like a spiral bound?
It's related, but secondary dominants need to be related to a diatonic chord of the key, like the ii, iii, IV, etc. In this case, these tonicizations can lead to any chord.
Cool video, I'm thinking "Ice and a Slice" in my G&T.
GIN & TONIC - Thank you Jeremy - short single topic videos coupled with reference to related sections of you books is even more effective 🙏

Thanks for the nice comment, David! I can't compete with the things that can scare or depress you, but hopefully you enjoyed it anyway! 😃

It sounds like you already know what to do! You don't need me!

G&T Jeremy! Many thanks
Thanks much for watching, Ken!

You don’t change the root when you add a tonicization?

They're not spiral bound - I'm sorry. At this point, that's not anything I can offer you. But you can buy the PDF and then bind them however you like.
Also known as 'secondary dominants'? Or is that a different thing?

Gin and tonic 👍 beats a beer 😂
Thanks for watching, Mark!
G&T
Gin & Tonic
Schoenberg liked his gin without any tonic. 😊
Ah, I see what you did there! I love it!
