How come I didn't know about this amazing plugin. I just put it on the output of the whole mix and it brought all details and effects that I was desperate struggle to make them shiny at the front of the mix. !!!..Thank you!
great video! would suggest to use Gain staging and EQ with a compressor after to get a similar but cleaner result if we're talking about making something sound clear or come out stronger! (fun fact, OTT causes Phasing so be careful!) also on another note Defiantly use the "Time" knob it will clean up the tails and help not over exaggerate the reverb. this especially helps with vocals
also cause i am a nerd, you can adjust the bands by clicking on those big box's that correspond to high/mid/low to further adjust the sound to better fit it into a mix or get interesting sound design out of them
The phase shift is ACTUALLY completely irrelevant and negligible, please stop parroting without personal xp. You are right about needing gain staging and thats why OTT is trash in 2023 to have a plugin that doesnt allow to correct its added gain
@@MrFree-vj8qj sure, okay :) - OTT isn't trash though, its a great tool and if used correctly can make all of the difference (also awesome for sound design)
@@theindiemusiclab no, thank you. Just found your channel yesterday and I've been binging. You cover exactly the stuff I'm interested in, and use almost the same tools as me. Appreciate ya!
Thanks for the comment! Can you clarify what you mean by “different environments?” Do you mean recording acoustic drums? Or perhaps how to create environments with reverb plugins & such?
I’m super new into recording. I installed OTT for vocals, not sure why but after I record and play back the vocals I get crazy feedback. Any idea what’s going on?
wow if those are the Alesis studio monitors i remember.. those were my 1st monitors ever.. before i was using hifi stereos.. then jumped to ADAM A7X..meh..then Yamaha HS80M..
I'm not an OTT expert, but c'mon. It's clearly a MB compressor. The "EQ knobs" you're talking about are NOT eq. But 3 bands on it (high band, mids and lows). Downward and Upward knobs are the knobs for downward and upward compression. C'mon man. And of course, you're selling a course. Without having a clue about the tools.
Why are you using OTT for that kind of music? You can just use a regular compressor for dynamic music. OTT shines best with EDM and some kinds of techno. Loud music.
....how do you open these stupid plugins? or load them into these programs? WHY DOES EVERY TUTORIAL SKIP THIS STEP? How the hell do I open it in the program?? Every tutorial skips step one.
bro opened studio one and i subscribed immediately after lol
I love when you guys take a practical approach. A lot of channels avoid doing that.

Watches video thinking i'm going to learn how to use OTT plugin... 80% through the video "I don't really what know the buttons do, I only use one."
I readed your comment before watching the video .lol you saved my time thanks
Pretty sure those side knobs control what frequency is compressed/excited, not exactly an eq, I wouldn't use it in place of one for sure
But he still helped me.
So thanks buddy
Same here, this was next to useless for me. When a 10 min video can be compressed into one sentence, it's a no thank you from me =).
@@jimmixthurtellThe knobs on the right side are gain knobs. With those you adjust the output volume of the High, Middle and Low frequency bands 😊
I just used this. It really boosted my vocals and helped them cut through the mix.
Automating the depth knob works well for me. Can get very crispy at times. Love OTT and I think it works well on the lead vocal (only an opinion!).
my boy wasnt lying about "getting started". i cracked so hard at "i never touch this, i never touch this"
fire video, simple and to the point
This was so helpful! I'm still new to music production and I've been struggling with some of my tracks being lost in the song.
Thank you for the class!
That helped me 😮 tip 3
Thanks for the tips, this is very helpful
Love the tutorial, love the song, good stuff!
Thank you for this video!
Is the full song available somewhere? :)

Love you bro my last tracks all had crispy vocals 😭😂
Great tips man, cool tune too

These comments are weird the video literally explains this perfectly especially towards the ending.
Thank you for the Tips! Great Video
Great video man!! Thank you so much!!!
this is fire 🔥🔥
Hey your video really helped thank you
Could you do a video on how to replicate the style (old mic vocal effect, guitars, etc) of Stream Two by The Frowning Clouds?
I’ll look into it. Thanks for the request!

great video!
Thanks so much!
Thanks. Great vid
Hi, thanks for the explanation! Could you make a video to create various kinds of environments for indie drums? thank you
Thanks for the comment! Can you clarify what you mean by “different environments?” Do you mean recording acoustic drums? Or perhaps how to create environments with reverb plugins & such?
@@theindiemusiclab Sorry, I meant, create different environments with plugins for dry acoustic drums. Thanks
Gotcha. I will look into it!
@@theindiemusiclab thanks! Your RUclips Channel is great.
谢谢你,很有用的视频❤
Guy in video: I like to keep the depth knob around 10%-30% and call it a day…
1 minute later, first application of OTT:
Puts it at 50% 🤦🏻
Most of the time does not equal all of the time, genius
bravo

Why don't you just use regular compression?
I like the song
*oh tities?*
What Daw is this?

Everything 's great! But your mix sounds seriously muddy..

Yuh
Interesting and good Tips … but never ever say „Now it‘s on“ in an A/B comparison!!!
What were the 3 tips ? Basically use it on various tracks ?
Sounds like 1 tip, in fact it not even a tip, you are literally just saying "use OTT".
....how do you open these stupid plugins? or load them into these programs? WHY DOES EVERY TUTORIAL SKIP THIS STEP? How the hell do I open it in the program?? Every tutorial skips step one.
Hey man so you gotta look that up on your own. Sort of like how Gordon Ramsey doesn't explain what a fork is every time he makes a dish
Apparently there is an issue on installation, you have to run the installer as admin or it may not appear in your plugin list
you really don't know how to use OTT. 😂
Thank you!!
Thanks a lot!!!
