I have the same setup and drain right into an old 5qt jug. Takes a total of 5 minutes. I'm small enough to do it without lifting the Outback which saves time too. The valve was worth the $25 for time, crush washers, and paper towels saved.
I've had a Futomo Valve for about 5yrs now. I was wary about things getting caught on it but thankfully the drain is already tucked in so the valve is tucked in as well. After 3yrs it got a slow leak. The fix was simple, during an oil change, I removed the valve and replaced the crusher bolt and O-ring. Beyond that, the amount of oil that doesn't drain (due to design) was less than 1 cup which is minimal. The Fumoto Valve is one of the best $25 I've spent on my or any vehicle. Though I've never tried doing an oil change with the tube.
I found that the fumoto gasket started to deteriorate after 5 years. I replaced it with an oem crush washer and everything is fine so far. I would probably use the crush washer instead of the provided gasket from the getgo
At first I didn't either. After installing it I checked for oil leaks literally every day for 2 months but found none. Things were great for the first 3 years. At that time I noticed a very slow leak. Removed the valve, and replaced the O-Ring and crusher bolt then re-installed the valve and the leak was gone. I'm not on year 5 with the sale valve. Though now I replace the O-ring and crusher bolt evrey 1-2yrs.

I really love my 2024 Outback . Subaru says change oil every 6000K miles but I do it every 5000 miles , you can't go wrong
changing it more often .
Plus the math is easier with 5k 👍
@@dfinma These days I can use all the easy I can get lol .

Yup. I’ve had zero issues with mine. Well worth it.

Do those have the rtv or silicone found in the oil pickup tube? Like the 86? Or BrZ
No they don’t
Love how easy the maintenance is on these outbacks.
I don’t trust that valve, just me I suppose. I agree hand tight on filter.
The valves have been around for decades with no record of failure.
seems to be tucked in there safely enough

so you used the factory washer that came with the valve AND a crush washer? Please clarify as I'm about to do this on my '21 Forester.
