When I'm making anything with cabbage, I simply stick the cabbage into the freezer for a few hours or days. When I am ready to use it, I thaw the cabbage out completely. The freezing makes the leaves very flexible. When removing the leaves, just peel them back. They come off the root and the thick fibrous part of the leaf stays with the root. Have fun with cooking.

You can!! This is a polish dish called golabki! I find it cool seeing other people's take on the dish, now to translate golabki can roughly translate to pigeon (or the plural name of pigeons lol) there are vegan versions of it where instead of meat, it will be rice, beans, and carrots if I remember correctly what my friend ate(?) I could be wrong of course! I will say, seeing this made me a bit ??? Maybe because I am nit picky or biased with how me and my family make the recipe BUT some stuff made me confused. For the cabbage we cook them while already having the stem off. It seems to be easier. We don't add sugar of any kind as far as I remember (but you can, most use regular sugar for the sauce imo! Polish traditional dishes don't use brown sugar compared to others from what I know) and here's the kicker...we don't bake them in the oven, instead we cook everything in one giant pot within the tomato sauce! Yep. You heard that right. This is where we cook it for a good 2 hours (sometimes even 3!) And that's for the cabbages to not be too hard, I slightly winced hearing them cut into the cabbage where it was still hard(?) Like I do know some prefer it that way, but I personally don't enjoy the crunch in it. It should be soft, easy to cut through and something everyone can eat with ease (or at least imo) now thats not to say you cannot do it in an oven! Some have switched it up for the oven and so have we but the go to (at least based on what I know from traditional ways) is with a pot. Also the sauce should be less thick and more like creamy soup but that is down to personal preference there! Overall a nice recipe that I give kudos to the person making, I am shocked they made it easier because oh boy does it get tricky with making golabki lol
