This is why choosing friends is important and not ones who all share the same world view so as to avoid living in an echo chamber- the views of the scientific materialist are as odd as those of the US fundamentalist Christian. There are lots of problems with evolution as a worldview

Who even cares about politics. It's sad to contribute to the illusion that your washy opinions have any weight or merit on the leader of the free world, and what he decides to do. Why stop at calling one figure ignorant when the whole of them are worthy? Not everyone should be allowed to vote, as if that even had any impact or ever could. I think the honorable thing to do is to deny our programing. Go hand and hand into a new dark age.

Spoken like a parasitical and pathological supporter of a criminal narcissistic one-term loser president.

the Trump insult wasn't needed, and perhaps the professor is ignorant to reasons why Trump is supprted, other than how he is portrayed from mainstream media.

Considering the topic of the lecture, and what was said, he had no choice but to make the comment : as he said, when you see someone in error, you should correct, teach them, or you cannot complain about their mistakes and / or ignorance.
I don't doubt your support for him and the reasons that brought you to that point are sincere, but the outcome, support for him, is unfortunately mistaken, and given his policies, even dangerous. For all of us (I don't even live in the US) . I hope since then your thinking has evolved.
      Best regards.

Having the need to make that comment about Trump shows he cares about him too much. Which goes against Stoicism
