The audience who saw this in person was a great memory to take with them for the rest of their lives. What a simple stage set and intimate venue, but the sound is just beautiful and as perfect that you can get. Nice reaction and yes, this song is relatable in many ways felt by the millions of people that feel the emotions in the words from this iconic voice and iconic man.
Great reaction. He always put so much emotion into his performances. I agree with you about often needing to watch live performances. I often say you can judge a song by a recording, but to truly appreciate the abilities of a performer you need to see them perform live.
This is not one of his well-known hits but it captures his sound nicely. The obvious hits are Wide World, Moonshadow, Peace Train, and Oh Very Young, among others I might not remembering here. He has an interesting bio story.
You are reviewing here and reacting to, one of the greatest and original performers of all time. His body of work isn’t large, but the work he did produce was masterful, this being one, but lesser known. “Moonshadow“ is one of my all-time favorite songs.
My life time memory seeing him Bolton Odeon in 67 with Walker Brothers and Hendrix. Then I met him at Theatre Royal London 72 Gerry Conway on drums and Del Newman Orchestra, lovely man bought all his albums.
This one and a very similar, emotive song that will tare from you the memories of love and then every bit of the emotions of your heart for it is Joan Armatradings 'Love snd Affection'.. The whole structure of the song, yes, BUT she ALWAYS kills me at the 'you took me dancing' part! Best wishes!
I was just thinking that I had almost forgotten about this song, and didn't remember I had made this same observation and comment 9 months ago. I forgot about commenting that I had forgotten. I don't know how, though. This song tears at my emotions. Beautiful! I wish I could write songs with this emotion. I've written a couple of songs, but not like this.
He also sang it life In Chili, in 2015. As a grown up man, when his voice is more broken, not that strong, almost bitter voice anymore. I think it became either more touching, I like that version more than this from his younger years.
Dani wanted an amazing reaction to Cat Stevens and the song How Can I Tell You. It was pleasant to see a great artist doing a masterpiece of his craft.
Dani, thanks for reacting to this performance, as I haven't heard this beautiful song in decades. I was away from RUclips for a week and need to check if you got around to my reaction request for Eva Cassidy's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".
You should always listen to the studio album version of the song, because : 1. It is the closest to the original vision of it that the musician(s) were able to achieve, and they can really take their time to get it as close to the vision as possible. 2. Musicians on the road -- touring musicians -- are often very tired, not feeling very well, and often just burned out from playing the same songs over and over, often until they cant stand them, and so they do a poor job in comparison to the energy they had when they were excited and inspired by the newness and freshness of the song. 3. The sound system characteristics very widely from venue to venue, whereas once again, in the studio, they have far greater control over shaping the sounds exactly as they wish them to be. This all adds up to you having the closest version to the artists vision possible. 💝 Fortunately, Cat Stevens was usually an awesome live performer.
Cat Stevens is so pleasant to listen to. I’ve mentioned this track before but I reckon you’d like I Love My Dog by him if you haven’t already heard it. Cheers, Dani.
Try listening to Cat Stevens’ early albums as they are truly beautiful. Also, for another tremendous singer songwriter from that period, try Love And Affection (there is an excellent video of her singing it) and also The Weakness In Me by Joan Armatrading. She was really something at that time.
Hey Dani, so enjoy your channel! I’m not a patron member and I know you get a lot of requests to react to different songs. I have one I think you would enjoy if you are not sure what to do. It is by a not very well known singer songwriter named Suzanne Vega. She has a song called Luka that I think you would find interesting. If you can find the time thank you.
Great Reaction to a lovely song. If you proceed with Cat Stevesn I would propose some not so well known but awesome songs like "Sad Lisa", "O Caritas" or "Boy with a Moon & Star on His Head"👍
As great as this live performance is, the studio version has a female backing vocal during the forte section that is so beautiful and sexy. She doesn't sing lyrics, she just hums and wails as if in tranquil ecstasy from Cat's words. Well worth a listen.
Hi Dani i really miss som Bon jovi on your channel, maybe you have something against them..If you should do one song of them do the best( my opinion) rock ballad ever Always..Love from sweden 🇸🇪
Hi Dani, This is a bit of a plug, as an Aussie i would like you to play a couple of songs or if not one by a band i grew up with here in Australia. The band is Crowded House, who had couple of hits in the States in the mid 80's. The lead singer/songwriter Neil Finn is now lead singer with Fleetwood Mac, if you could choose one of these Don't Dream it's over, Better be home soon or Fall at your feet. I am a long time viewer of yours & i am in awe of your knowledge of music for someone so young.
I'm an Elvis fan but there were so many great artists in the 60 and 70s . It's a shame music isn't made anymore Perhaps political correctness and the greed took over
All the best music came from this man before he went silly and converted to Islam. After that he did and said many things that are shameful. Can't explain everything here and i am not knocking Islam,or being muslim, before you all start having a go.Anyway his music was amazing all the way up to and including 1978.After that,i have no time for him.
He didn't 'go silly' he couldn't cope with all the craziness from the public & the media. He just wanted to play his music & everyone wanted a piece of him. Very brave to back out when he did
No it's not fun to watch people tuning their guitars for minutes on end. Also the studio version is the public release, perfected, in tune, with the desired arrangement and quality mixing. With a live performance it's a crap-shoot.
For me, this is one of the best love songs ever written.
Yes, but a sad love song as it is unrequited.
Cat Stevens was my first musician crush! I still have his albums up through Numbers.
I still have a crush on him and I'm a guy.
ME too! Since the 70's
That guitar, that melody, those lyrics, that VOICE! He has such an amazing catalog of songs that his devoted fans LOVE.
One of my favorites, and one of the most beautiful songs ever written. I’m a grown man and the first time I heard it, I cried.
One of the best singer-songwriters of the ‘70s, without a doubt.
Yes❤❤
The 70's were just the BEST decade for singer/songwriters. It's not even close.
No one will argue with that.
CS bares his innermost soul in every song, but especially this one
The audience who saw this in person was a great memory to take with them for the rest of their lives. What a simple stage set and intimate venue, but the sound is just beautiful and as perfect that you can get. Teaser and the Firecat...what more can you say
Cat Stevens, my favourite singer/songwriter of all time. Great reaction.
There was never anyone cooler than the Cat!!! My friends loved Elton, not me. For me it was Teaser and the Firecat by Cat Stevens.
I listened to this, way back then, over and over again, with the love of my life...
It still rips the heart out of my chest to hear it today.
Me too - I was 15 ( He chucked me) I’m over it now at 66 !!!
I knew this song when it was newly released. It remains a favorite. Thanks for this, Dani -
😭 Played this as the Bridal March at my first wedding ceremony. Ended in ruin and disaster, but the wedding was gorgeous.

Father and son. Remember the days of the old school yard. Matthew and son.
Hes a great Artists🎉

He is not talking about someone he loves. He is talking about the love he is searching for.
He will never find the love his mother gave to him. A woman never is willing to substitute the mother.
@@maozedung7270mother love, partner love are not to be compared.. both equally important
Dani this song makes me cry, my wife left me (for working too hard), and this song reminds me of her. Sorrow.

Love live performances and your channel thanks for reacting to it love cat stevens songs great songwriter and performer take care
Thank you for sharing this song from my pastxxxxx 🇬🇧
I had almost forgotten about this song. I love the way he uses the perfect chords and progressions to convey his innermost feelings.

I can read your thoughts Dani, you`re a beautifull soul!

Ìf you listen closely in the end the lyrics revealed that he's actually singing about not yet having found her. Listen.
His longtime producer and friend, Paul Samwell-Smith, thinks this beautiful and haunting ballad is his greatest cut. ❤️ 🎶
This is my favourite song by Cat Steevens its gorgeous
Just a Beason, one of his best among so many jewels.
ty ty t y woooooooooow ty
❤ thanks, I,m like play cat Steven
This has been played at a lot of weddings.
As Sinead O'connor said, songs express what many cannot or don't have the opportunity to.
Very nice song
Have a good evening

Along with the harpsichord/harpsichord-like keyboard.
Hi Dani, would you consider, whenever you have the time, to react to the song Last One To Know by the Fleetwoods?

I wondered who he sang the song for?
Check out the Liz Durrett version of this song. It is also amazing and possibly a better rendition
Don't grift to such a beautiful song.

What is your point?
How about you make the screen three quarters them and a quarter you?

I agree. The melody is so pure, and outshines his others. Not that they are bad.
@@wallacecallow2255, 'If I Laugh', is another of his songs that approaches this beauty and it's coincidentally on the same album.
