- I cut up a few pine trees for next winters firewood, there were tons of branches left behind so I got the cheapest Tractor pto powered chipper I could find in New Zealand. It made short work of the job.
I bought the chipper here- www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...

'Look mummy! Daddy's bought something that isn't broken!!!'
Haha.. He doesn't often see things so new and shiny around here
But did I see the wife roll her eyes?
@@MartyT great video...but the sheep 🐑 is there to keep you on your feet..lmao
This hilarious comment indeed lol 😂
Haha, now that’s funny🤣👍
The wee one asking "Are you going to grease it?" was the best. Equipment maintenance learned young.
I smiled as well
Love the video.glad to.see the David Brown earning its keep
That's enough 🤣
instablaster...
Your sons enthusiasm reminds me of my baby brother, he’s sometimes eager to help out and loves tools and big machines
Forget the chipper, The David Brown is purring like a kitten and running great
Needs a headlight and repaint to look it's best. Nice to see the excavator being put to use. That damn sheep lol. I wonder if that's how they came to be called rams ?
@@briananthony4044 a ram is a male sheep.
A female sheep is a ewe
Takes me back, one man, a lovely lady, and two wonderful little girls.
The same as me many years past bringing pleasure to them.
Enjoy it while it's there.
Hard to believe that Marty T bought a "new" piece of equipment. Wasn't there a vintage abandoned V-8 powered chipper somewhere, just begging for a new home? Lovely family Marty T...best to you mate.
I was disappointed when I saw it was new.
@@nikmaison And made in PRC....
@@kxtreme1942 and made out of Chinesium...
Totally agree, lucky man.
@@nikmaison 😂😂
Loved the comic relief at the end with the sheep. Good video.
I love his videos when he shows the youngins, they are so cute, First time I have seen the wife in a video. Nice family Mr. T.
Ahhh the memories come flooding back!! RIP Rambro........
LOL... that last "bong" was awesome!
Had a ram like that once. Finally had to pick him up by the scruff of his back and body slam him! It took about 3 or 4 times and he was done! You'll still have to watch him around your wife and kids, though.
I like how versatile your David brown tractor is, you buy a wood chipper and the bloody thing bolts right up to the pto on your David brown tractor, I think that David brown tractor will out live that brand new wood chipper, what a must have, to own a David brown tractor like the one you have, a for ever tractor, God's Peace
Never seen a kid MORE excited than the parent on new toy he had just bought...priceless.
That "BONG" at the very End got me 😂😂
Cheers, Marty from USA. Thanks for sharing your adventures!
A great video. I loved the kids comments. You have a lovely family.
From Texas USA, love your channel Marty. Keep it up. Love your homestead
And it was her Christmas pressie too. Nice move Marty
The woodchopper is great, the sheep ram is determined to give you a good laugh and break a kneecap too.
There always seems to be a ram in Marty's videos, mostly hydraulic but this time grass-fed!.
Did you know? Marty has another channel about his rams called 'angry ram' ..fun to watch the rams with the big boxing bag hanging from a rope 😁
@@leeharris3061 I thought I was watching Rambro’s Dad, it all looked familiar.
@@leeharris3061 I think DODGE should suport this channel, Dodge Ram, lol
I bought the same chipper in response to an ad for a Canadian brand name model. It turned out to be a Chinese counterfeit (no serial number), but it uses the brand name parts and works well on my 21 hp Kubota.
Here I am thinking Marty was about to break out , the welder , a big grinder , an old axle , and shed load of metal . 😋 . Excellent stuff Marty , good to see the family , and young angry ram again . You need some groin protection now fella . Keep up the excellent work and content . 😁😁😁 .
Nice comfy sunday and I could be doing some things. Instead i watch this comfy video and just let time pass by :)
i love how the kids enable you "so cool, so cool".
theyre keepers, for sure.
The novelty wears off after about half an hour. Fucking brilliant.
Always good to see your family. Like to see your son helping dad out once in awhile.
Ah another working toy for dad to play with and it's nice to see the young people taking an interest in what dad's doing for the equipment
Next up, diced mutton stew recipe.
Correction ‘freshly chipped mutton stew recipe’
Some tools or machines should be purchased new and a chipper is one, far to dangerous to have an old abused over heated shaft or cutter drum fly apart and ruin your day. Well done Marty I’m with you on this one
Hi there Mary. ..from Marty. Love your videos. They are very helpful and inspiring for me. Can I give you a little tip? The next time the ram charges you give him a swift kick right between the eyes! I'm serious. It impersonates another ram charging back. Don't worry about their sculls, they're are built like a reinforced battering ram (pun intended). It was my only means of survival when in close quarters with stud Marino rams that wanted to run over you. I found most rams did not go past 3 kicks. They would shake their heads and walk off wondering what had just happened. You would get more respect from them next time too. But, don't leave one by himself in a race behind you! He clipped me from behind in the back of the knee and sent me flying. He probably went back to his mates and gloted..."I finally got that shepherd!"
Fantastic machine, just love how excited little man was, that's why they're called boys toys, it don't matter how old you are, they are still great. The sheep was getting a bit angry with you, just goes to show how much damage they can do, most people here think they're harmless.
He loves heavy machinery, I think he's inherited my illness ;) .. Yeah the rams are powerful brutes
First time seeing your family - that really brightened my day! So cute!
Great job. I can't believe your wife didn't appreciate you getting her an early Christmas present 🤣
I like how the family is involved . You have found someone great hired hands. Keep the videos going. God bless.
I appreciate you sir. Thank you for sharing your skills, knowledge, and experience.
I was on a mini vacation about a week ago and as I was driving past a hops farm I noticed that they were selling the exact Ford tractor I've been wanting for decades. I have no need or space I just want it.
Tractors are very interesting to me, I'm grateful for all of your videos about them. You are very good at troubleshooting and I learn something new from you quite often. Thank you and God bless you and your family
The gleeful woodchipper dance. I do it often myself.
Best part look at your Christmas present. Lol Greetings from TN USA
“That’s Mum’s early Christmas present”. Mum looking somewhat less than gruntled!
Man, $1000 for a chipper like that is a good price.
That DONG at the end cracked me up.
That sheep will be going in the chipper if he keeps that game up 🤣
Hah! love the pet sheep, we had a merino ewe that loved to play the butt game. She lived for 16years, They make great pets.
It was great to see your family at last, I was beginning to wonder if you lived on that mountain on your own.
Had to smile when everyone started helping you unpack it.
Your youngest looked like he had never seen somthing so shiny and new!
Hmm, I thought ‘New” was a bit of a departure for the channel. Not in keeping with its main thrust!! Les in UK
New! Kid was jumping with excitement.
Maybe it was the bubble wrap. That stuff is like sugar for kids.
Hi. I used a 20 inch chipper on a Sydney council for about 15 years. We used to call those little fellas “pencil sharpeners”. They can still tear you to bits if you take your eyes off them. Keep an eye out for stress cracks. Even our big Vermeer would split here and there. Great investment, mate.
I herd of cases in south australia of a person going thru a council chipper.
And a few times i seen timber handle plastic leaf rakes go thru along with brooms 😂
@@southaussiegarbo2054 Yeah we lost a few plastic rakes and even a couple of aluminium grain shovels. No people though😁
@@mickburns5546 i wont mention council but the work aera(an entire main road) got blocked off for over a km to direct traffic bc it became a crime scene. Word was the guys yelled for their mate who they thought was in cab when he never replied etc they looked to see blood dripping etc.
@@southaussiegarbo2054 not where you want to be😞
@@mickburns5546 no it isnt. The workers couldnt call the boss to tell him cops rocked up at depo and told him and told the blokes wife to.
Rip to that poor man
(He wanted to be creamated so they burnt the chips and all
Worked the chipper for a tree crew for a couple years, you really dont wanna feed the chipper with your hands closed round the wood. Open hands or fists to suss jams and a second branch to feed the last of the first one.
Yay he's back. The ram.
Good on ya for greasing it before use. Ive seen way too many bearing failures on brand new equipment fail from lack for grease. I try and explain to people that they only put just enough grease in them from the factory to keep them from rusting on the shelf.
Yes, shocked! "Hard to believe that Marty T bought a "new" piece of equipment" always interesting, thanks Marty 😊
Nice to the the family and sheep.
Boy that David Brown sure brings back memories! About 40 years ago I was boarding my horses at a farm that had a big DB. They used it mostly for haying. Sir David Brown made some beautiful roadsters too, even if not always the most reliable. Thanks for a memory!. Stay healthy. Cheers, Steve/Ohio/USA
You have a lovely family, Marty! God bless you all!
Love the “ding” of ram skull on chipper housing at the end, lol!
When I saw you swing that first log near the boat I'm holding my breath and thinking, don't drop it on the boat! Then I saw you had it with the grapple. >Grin
That chipper works very well for the cost.
I'm always amazed by how nice the cleaning rags and cups used are, is Mrs T. aware...
Mate you are so patient with that bloody ram. As a fellow NZer and sheep keeper I would be applying our NZ 3 strike law before it gets repealed. Seriously if he hit you when you were unaware you could easily end up with a busted knee. He needs to respect you more! That means you need to butt him (figuratively) harder than he butts you. Doesn't mean you can't still be mates. Lol.
I used to throw a quart of water on the ram for a couple days then a squirter gun with water was enough
I like that gong at the end! That could be your signature sign off!
Really nice to include you children .great as always mate👍🍺🍺
The little apprentice was so excited with the new machine. I enjoyed his feelings 🇦🇺👍😉😁😘
That ram has some manners to learn one way or another. Nice update and thumbs up to you.!
Amazing patience with that animal.
Love the ram at the end. I don’t miss my sheep.
You have a beautiful family my friend. I think this is the first time I've seen them.
Cheers!
The happy dance while opening was AWESOME LOL!!!
Rambro legend lives on
I've been watching you videos for months and I find them so calming and a pleasure to watch really enjoyable thank you
Lots of help there. The rams and the kiddos. :-)
Some lovely looking logs. 👍👍👍
Family shot, great one man.
Marty great investment it gonna save you money and time it pay for it self in the long run
nice of them to give you some angle iron for future projects or repairs right there in the packaging. if you just leave that pile of chips there for 2-3 years, turning them once a year, you'll have some awesome compost to spread around your yard.
Yes I thought about making a workbench with the angle iron, just need to bold a slab of timber on top
@@MartyT that's the first thought i had too. it's already about the right height for one. you can use what you cut off of the leg when you adjust for height to make an angle brace at the corners. but if i had something to fix right away, i'd use it for that instead. free virgin steel angle doesn't grow on trees, and i hate cutting one thing up for materials, and having to splice pieces together up to fix or build something else. i do enough of that.
Bravo for having ear defenders for the little one!
I love the ending. The *hunk* was exactly what I wanted to hear!
Nice bit of kit for future works, also nice to see your family Marty, all the very best to you, and the herd!
Another job well done. Your David Brown is really running great and the new chipper was money well spent. Thanks again for your time and videos.
" Are you going to grease it ? HAHA ! Thanks for sharing Marty glad to see you !
Making sweet compost for the garden.
I swear that sheep/goat thing at the end was begging to go in the barby spit.
Nice work Marty.. I did smile at your wood chopping efforts for next winter, nothing wrong with that but we had a fair amount of snow an minus 1 and colder temperatures this past week or so, with a trip into town not so long ago (around 8-30 PM UK time) and the compressed snow on the side roads In town are thick sheet Ice as the very cold wind blows In off the sea there/ My driving was cautious on the sheet Ice not courageous as I had a 6 week old Great Granddaughter, Granddaughter and her partner on board taking them home.. Used to love the cold weather and played out in it like a fool same as everyone else, but now at 72 would rather be at home Indoors - lol.. Also miss my once log fires but our now my, retirement bungalow was updated with "Air Source" heating units so make hot water from cold air like a magician/ so. no need for logs as we dont have an open fire or stove - All Electric.. But, must look to the future I guess.. Just got a warning on my phone from the water supply company telling the coming thaw next week will bring broken pipes and water escaping If not careful, so that means the underground mains supplies breaking maybe.. Nice to look forwards too - lol - Thanks for the video Marty - Ian. Coastal North Essex - UK.
Great stuff.
Value for money.
That kid was like a in a candy store, when he saw the chipper.
That chipper will make great sheep mince.
love watching your channel..i can't believe what u have got in so little time.. love seeing kids out with u...
Great vid, mate. Awesome to see the family. Hope they enjoy their Christmas present...
Very tidy chipper. Perfect. 🤜🤜👍👍
Enjoyed the family cameo. Your wife and children seem dear. Stay safe.
HAHAHA!! Oh he'll let you know when "that's enough"! And it sounded like he gave the ol tractor a good bye kiss at the end of the video, too. Haha a fine job, sir.
Yes I heard the bang at the end as well.
It was nice to see the family 'chipping' in!
Looks like a great addition to the homestead...
Very nice looking family! Thanks for sharing.
Hope the ram doesn't get near your kids, he could really do some harm.
Usually the PRC label (to me) is a red flag, but this unit appears fairly decent. Keep us posted on how it holds up!
I have the same unit from Titan Attachments here in the US it sells for about $1800 US you got a great deal. That’s about what mine. Cost on a Black Friday sale a few years back.
That’s a beast! Tractor working like a champ as well!
New subscriber in North Carolina. Really enjoying the videos! You have a beautiful family!
Marty T videos make my day. Thx for making awesome content
Have been thinking of getting one of those chipper's for a while, as i constantly make a burn pile with branches. Good to see both Browns in action.
I've been looking for a cheap second hand chipper for months but they never seem to come up for sale. I can't burn here, I live in the middle of a forest
@@MartyT Yeah i noticed you had a few trees about. 😉
This is a beautiful life
Your kids are adorable. Good on ya mate!
In Germany the tractors have 2 power take-off shafts, one with 540rpm and one with 1000 rpm. We have the same chopper and always use 1000 rpm with little gas, so it doesn't clog. If your tractor is too small, you have to accelerate
Sorry, my english isn't the best
Really cool chipper! Made quick work of all the branches for sure. 👍 Looks like you could use some steel chaps for ram protection. Of a suit of armour.
