- Israel Adesanya remained gracious in defeat after coming up short against Nassourdine Imavov on Saturday night.
Israel Adesanya is often gracious in defeat, which was again the case following his recent shortcomings in the clash against Nassourdine Imavov.
'The Last Stylebender' was still aiming to prove that he was the man to beat at 185 lbs amid his ongoing skid inside the octagon. Despite looking back to his best in the opening round, the former UFC champion was knocked out-ultimately extending his losing streak to three straight.
After his loss at UFC Saudi Arabia on Saturday, footage of Israel Adesanya's reaction to the replay has surfaced. Not only did Adesanya congratulate Nassourdine Imavov for his victory, but he was also incredibly accepting of the outcome.
"The speed, the speed," Adesanya said as he watched his fight with Imavov back. "F***, the speed."
"Fair. Fair game. Fair game. F***. N****s doing the f***ing stripper splits."
Adesanya shared a laugh before continuing.
"I'm still alive. That's how the game goes."
Though his dreams of becoming a three-time UFC middleweight champion look to be fading away, Adesanya still manages to stay level-headed during a defeat.
The fan-favorite became emotional while speaking to the media immediately after losing to Imavov.
"Only a privileged few will ever get to this point and understand. To be able to feel something so great but also feel something so deep..."
"It's a f***ing lovely game but it's a stupid game at the same time."
Adesanya didn't give any hints about his future in combat sports, though helping his teammates is a top priority.
"I don't know [what's next]. I have to chill and then think about things. I'll relax first for a little bit, just help the teammates who have fights coming up."
"Yeah, [then I'll] see what I want to do. I was going to do that anyway but, you know, now I'm forced to. Shout out to Nassourdine for that."
