Apparently Anupama is so against nepotism.
So much so that she opted not to interview the epitome of nepotism- Patakka starcast instead interviewed self-made fashion brand owner and prolific writer Shewta Bacchan .

I mean, Jhanvi Kapoor literally had to learn Hindi for her first movie and in Anupama ma'am's own words, actually managed to speak it convincingly for the most part and has a bright future. @musically_insane 5 лет назад +23

You are misunderstanding my point. My emphasis is not towards them speaking Hindi. It's this snobbery that certain circles of the society have towards anything Indian. An almost colonial hangover, that anything Indian is inferior. I have seen that emerge a lot more in terms of accent. I think the fact that Western media mocks Indian accents leads to these people deliberately incorporating a foreign twang to theirs. There is a socio-economic angle to it.

I commented on the 'Varun Dhawan Anushka Sharma answer fan questions' interview when it came out and Film Companion hid my comment. They actually HID my comment. It's such a clever thing to do because until I logged into another youtube account, I could not even know that they had hidden my comment.
I had basically expressed my disappointment at how Varun's 'village character' (as he described it) sounded like a city boy mocking his house help and how I thought the acting process that he described was surface level.
When my comment began to garner likes and attention and received 34 likes in a day, they hid it because I assume they found it too dangerous and 'to the point' as compared to the usual 'Varun tu loser haii'. I made it a point to not be rude or get personal, I even commended Mr. Dhawan for his sincerity in that comment.
And now we get to see this video.
Matlab ye kya mazaak chal raha hai, tum sab kya extended family ho ki apne bacchon ko constructive criticism se bachaoge aur apne rishtedaaro ke kaam ko zabardasti promote karoge?
I really like your channel and I'd love it if you could be respectful to your audience (not hide their harmless, logical comments) and stick to films.

@@makarandsawant5270 Sure! Here it is -
I think Varun's definitely overestimating the hard work he put in or the depths he went to to get into character. The process that he is describing (apart from learning sewing, kudos to him for that) is the most basic, cliched way to portray a 'gareeb' or 'below poverty line' guy. I've seen 9th graders create more nuanced and authentic 'small town' characters onstage.
6:55 - 7:03 is the kind of 'Gaon ki bhaasha' I wish to NOT watch on films anymore. Sounds like a city boy mocking his house help. I'm frustrated because honestly Varun's approach to this role is to do the same shit he did in Badri - create a 'village character' or 'BPL character'. He sounds, looks, acts, behaves the SAME. His built is the same, the sweater does not help. You can easily make out his bulging biceps underneath. That's hardly the issue though. He uses no voice modulation, no new mannerisms, no SPECIFIC dialect. All his city characters are the same, all his small town characters are the same. Bas thoda 's' ko 'sh' bana ko, 'z' jo 'j' bana do, 'o bhaiya' bol do, speak in an idiotic tone aur kardo Bandra boy ki tarah dialogue delivery.
An actor like Rajkummar Rao would have practiced the SPECIFIC dialect of Chanderi, produced authentic nuances, mannerisms and developed a new, engaging character. He has essayed unique and brilliant performances in Bareilly ki Barfi, Gangs of Wasseypur and Citylights, ALL small town characters yet so different from each other.
I like Varun and he seems like a sincere, hard working man but the problem is he does not even see how far behind he is on his technique and level of research. His 'acting' is very obvious, he does not fit in this role. Anushka certainly does a better job and looks more genuine in the trailer. Her approach towards her characters makes a lot more sense too.

Is she kidding? She said yes her name have her the opportunity, but what she does next is totally her credit.. So many boutique aunties have opened shops , no one has a label a whole town will identify with.. At what price are you selling your "label" ? And what exactly is "your" label ? Have you been to a designer school? Suddenly these rich homemakers get an "aesthetic" sense about art, fashion and they start with interior decoration, fashion designing, book writing.
Even authors have to struggle but this lady is getting a RUclips interview on a book debut.
Your next opportunities are also going to come to you because of your name.
If you're so proud about your ability, you could have released your book under a pen name.

You know it's understood that one generation usually struggles to achieve what they want but the second generation in the family can benefit from previous generations' success. Having said that, the next gen has to be hard working and willing to bring forth their best ideas and efforts. No matter what field they decide to go in, at some point they have to prove their worth. She acknowledged her privilege up until this point but she is right in saying that from this point onwards consumers decide if her products r worth investing in? I am not big on name brands but I love to read and no way I will just buy a book because of her last name but if the subject and the description intrigues me then I am game. As for film companion interviewing non movie guests? I would just say that I view it as a platform where creative people come and give us a climpse into their thought process and I love every bit of it.

Guys, I agree with everyone's take on FC but we need to respect the lady who interviewed the Pataka cast. She is doing a great job and not just some secondary job compared to Anupama. Its a business at the end of the day and everyone from cameramen to spot boys to the editors need to make a living. It's the same as a corporate culture where senior management meets the big shot clients where huge revenues are guaranteed.

The interview felt so forced. It was as if Anupama n Shweta were chit chatting in their living room n talking bout parents n kids. Most part of the interview was about that only. Only few mins were spent on book n the clothing brand. Not sure on the actual intent of this interview. Disappointed. Anupama asked if Navya wants to act cos she is soo bful. Anupama it sounded so odd coming this from u as if the only criteria of being in movies is looking good. So disappointed.

It is very disappointing that these celebrities just do not admit to the fact that Nepotism helps these star kids to put their foot in the door, which is so important to get that first break that a normal no body would not get or after many years of struggle which in the film industry, as is the shelf life of actors is quite limited. Yes, after that you do work hard, but that is not possible if that FIRST STEP is not there.

I felt so sorry for her. She is very well spoken. Very humble, compared to her brother at least. Plus she seems to be really sad for some reason. It's like she has suddenly realised that she has no other life except the one with her children and family.
The way she said that most of the women in her book are housewives because she doesn't know the working side of the women. :( Must be sad, to live in shadow of super successful parents. Even her daughter is more popular than she is.

I don't think she would have been allowed to do anything on Instagram. From the way she speaks, it's very clear that she never got a chance, she was a mother at 23, she obviously got married really early. That too into a family where women don't work.
Now her kid as well, she is clearly Bollywood material, but I don't think she would be allowed into movies.

I could be wrong here, but I think we should lighten up on FC. I would imagine that this is a sponsored video (ie MXS and/or Shweta Bachchan paid for it). Channels like FC need funding so they can sustain content on things its audience cares more about (I’m a fan of cheat sheet!) that are substantial but probably not as lucrative for the channel. Again, I can be wrong here but I am a fan of this channel’s content and if there is a mix in its programming, I imagine it is so they can continue creating programming we care about that takes money to produce. (Don’t mean to offend anyone below; just sharing my two cents).
