  • The Retromin/RS90 was a done deal for me. I though that if you get it for cheap it's not that bad, but now after letting it sit in my shelf for a while this opinion has changed. It is rotting as you watch the video!

    Zhou was literally using GBA micro screens for this device, so unless it's an issue with a dirty/loose ribbon cable (not likely due to the damage shown), it's an issue with all GBA micro screens, which makes me glad I never got one. It's still my favourite "Famiclone" to use today and glad mine hasn't had these issues.

      @dyXurChannel  9 месяцев назад +1

      I don't think they are using original GBM screens or at the were least just B or even C Grade ones.
      My own Micro shows no such signs at least.

    Man the retro mini was my first ever retro handheld! My screen works just fine, however the sd card reader sometimes fails and I have to re insert various times to get it working. Other than that,I love it! Played SMB3 though it and some Mario kart. Just the screen resolution is bad. I was going to get the miyoo mini because of this, but ended up with rg480v instead

    I had the same issue and I’m relieved that it’s not just me. Recently upgraded to miyoo mini plus. Thankfully the save files were easy to transfer over because I put over 100 hours into Pokémon Crystal on this thing

      100 hours? Dam the Retromini served well under you! If you liked Crystal that much you might enjoy romhacks like Prism or Crystal Clear. I can highly recommend them.

    Sadly experiencing the same too, such a bummer. ~15 bucks for a new screen isn't worth it on this. At least it was cool when it lasted, to bad there isn't a better LCD out there to make it last. Pixels are sharp for GB/GBC/GBA on this thing. I even had it at 1 brightness and looks the same as yours after several months. The new Miyoo A30 is around the corner though (April). Gives that Gameboy Micro feel to it for those interested. Even Ali Express has the RG35XX and Miyoo Mini for under 50 easy right now. Recommend MinUI for the RG35XX by the way, sometimes less is more with that and it's clean looking.

    • @dyXurChannel
      @dyXurChannel  9 месяцев назад

      Didn't know about the A30. I hope it's being sold for a good price.
      I still have to check out the RG35XX, since I first got my hands on a R36S and it's in a similar ballpark I didn't bother yet.

      @@dyXurChannel R36S, that one is great too, but the RG35XX series does get some good support lately (MinUI to start). R36S is more Linux Batocera knowledge/background. Not bad to learn some RetroArch with it but it'll pay off with some tinker skills / navigation.
      Also I hope the A30 Miyoo is around 50ish USD, could be a seller, comes down to quality. I'm a digital pad (input) chaser, but if you want thumbtsticks, go for the RG35XX H, by the reviews, it's pretty small. So a Retroid Pocket 4/4s would interest you.
      Overall, wait it out. These devices are coming in quarterly with upgrades. Everyone should hold their wallet until it's time to be worth the pay.
      Wild OSs to test/learn out there, like you, we're waiting for the winner device that holds very well for a long while. Haven't heard support for the R36S much, these devices get pushed so fast, no one knows what to buy.

    Custom Firmware makes this device a bit better but Its not worth it to buy anymore IMO. I still have mine from when it came out and it does not yet seem to be degrading, but who knows when it will

    For 15 bucks, you can use it for the buttons and case, swap out the screen and PCB for a Pi Zero 2 and a little SPI screen, and you have a little Pi handheld for $30.

      @dyXurChannel  9 месяцев назад

      @@dyXurChannel In the UK the Pi Zero 2 are available for £18 new retail, the Zero original is available new retail for about £8, I see one available for £5 second hand now and then of Facebook MP. Edit> Make that £17 currently for the Zero 2 W, it's the 8GB RAM model of the Compute Module 4 that is overpriced and scalped from what I can tell, the 1-4GB CM4 models are available for £35-55 though, the 32GB fast eNAND & 8GB RAM is £100+ lol, you can go with the 16Gb fast eNAND & 8GB RAM model for £85, which is still well overpriced, the 2GB RAM Lite (no eNAND) model for £34 is the best model price wise imo, pay £5 more for 8GB fast eNAND, which will mean lower latency and faster transfer speeds, great for installing the main OS onto and your main most used apps and files.

      @@dyXurChannel Sorry to hear that, they are produced in the UK by Sony, as it's a UK company, to avoid tax issues or any hiccups, just get a UK friend to pop the Pi or multiple Pi's you are after in the post to you, have it sent as a gift wrapped in gift wrap.
      Strange to think the Raspberry Pi's are actually Sony SBC, so if you make a Pi based handheld or console, technically it's a Sony console or handheld.

      @@Wobble2007 Oh wow... never knew that Sony was involved with the Pis. I might do what you suggest, but here there is always the problem that import processes it which is 16.- + 8.1% of the total value.

    GB300 is better and runs on Sf2000 firmware. Also costs like half of the price of the retro mini sometimes.
