With you regarding Chic Stone. His style was truly sympathetic to Kirby's pencils in a way that Colletta, Reinman etc weren't. Those glorious, chunky outlines! My favourite inker on (late) Silver Age Kirby though? Bill Everett. His inks on #s 170-175 are to die for. Comics perfection :)
Perfectly said about Chic Stone! I like Bill Everett as well. Plus, Everett will always have a special place in my heart because he co-created Daredevil. Also, I bought a ton of Thor comics after I made this video, which include 170-175, so I'll be sure to check those issues out! Thank you for your comment! 👍
I love the JIM/THOR books also ... you are spot on that KIRBY inked by Chic Stone is the CLASSIC Marvel look I associate with my childhood ( I am 67) .... some great books there ....
Thanks, Les! I always enjoy reading comments like yours. I think it's super cool that you can associate these amazing comics with your childhood. What an amazing time to grow up reading comics. 👍
Congrats! Love your show and subscribed. Your favorite Kirby inker Chic Stone is understandable. Issue JIM 112 with Hulk (you have to get that one) has the coolest Kirby-Stone art I've ever seen. I described it to friends as if Chic carved his inking like Michelangelo. Since you picked up JIM 124-125.... please get the rest of the issues to finish what I believe is the most classic Thor story ever told. Thor vs. Hercules when Odin takes away half of Thor's power to humble him. And Vince Colletta gets a lot of grief, and rightfully so in some instances. But his work on Thor I thought was very good. 👍 keep up the great show Karen.
Thanks, Michael. I always enjoy reading your comments. I definitely want to get JIM 112 someday. I almost bought one in high grade about a year ago, but it was expensive and I passed. I want to get one in mid grade raw so that I can enjoy it. I definitely plan on collecting Thor 126 and beyond, maybe sooner rather than later. I like what you said about Chic Stone's inks. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Take care! 👍
When I first started collecting comics, I was instantly obsessed with Thor. And not just any Thor run, specifically Silver age and journey into mystery. So I have amassed a small pile of books until I switched focus to other titles in the Bronze Age where I’m at currently. Something about the Thor trade dress always struck me. Thank you for sharing your new acquisitions with us Karen 👍
Really nice pickups 😊 You have a nice comic collection going there. I warn you that some keys are crazy expensive now. Some are 5 figures. Happy collecting! 😊
Been away from comics and RUclips for a while so when I finally returned, you're the first for me, to check out. Another great video, Karen. Thank you!
Neon Dragon! It's been a while! How have you been? It's always great to hear from you! I feel super special that you catch up on my videos first. Thanks for all of your support! ☺
@@KarensPages Hi Karen! I've been so sidelined with other work but always feel good when back in the OA world and watching your videos! You're a natural pro!
When I first became aware of Marvel's Thor I loved his costume but was turned off by Lee's faux Elizabethan dialogue. I came to my senses though (Simonson helped) and now feel Thor, his worlds, and his supporting cast are one of the very best things Lee and Kirby ever conceived. It's so cool to see your enthusiasm for him.
Thank you for your comment, Brian. Thor dialogue is part of the charm of the comic. It can be ridiculous at times, but it's mostly awesome. I'm glad you came around. 😉
Thanks, Trace! I wasn't sure if people were going to like the unboxing music, so it was nice to read your comment. I'm working on editing the next video now and I hope to get it out soon! 👍
LOve that JIM # 120 cover... Thor in Pittsburgh stopping by the forge to repair Mjolnir!! Pittsburgh is 50-55 mile away from home!!, so cool local color issue!!
Fun Thor books to get. Jack Kirby Thor artist edition from IDW. Kirby is Mighty by Marvel and The Folio Society has a Thor book with a Facsimile of Journey Into Mystery 83.
Your collection and appreciation for them is awesome Karen ! I Love the colors and ink of old comic book covers as well. I have many displayed. Nice shirt , I have the Arashikage tattoo on my bicep 🥷 🖖
Thank you CreativePowers! Out of curiosity, what comic books do you have displayed? It's super cool about your tattoo. Thanks for sharing. 🥷👍 Also, I didn't realize that there was a ninja emoji...thanks for showing me that one!
😆 well you've given me alot of comic knowledge. I have a variety from when I grew up in comic book store. Bernie wrightson swamp thing 7 & frankenstein print, Joe Kubert house mystery 282 & 81 cover panels , Dan Brereton comic covers, Buscema comic covers, Dave Cockrum Thor 279, George Tuska Xmen 40, Dredd by Simon Bisle, Terry Dodson Harley & black cat, Bill Sienkiewicz Wolverine 10, Alex Ross covers,John Bolton army of darkness 5, death dealer Frank Frazetta 🤙
My grail Thor book is Journey into Mystery #85 (which is first Loki, and my favorite Thor character Balder the Brave). I bought a lot of Essential Fantastic Four, which was my only option of buying those early Kirby/Lee issues with astronomical prices. I like reading the Essential series but they're only in Black & White and one of my volumes has a error (where a handful of issues repeat) and they only go up so far (I think they stopped before the John Byrne run). Thanks for the fun video. It's always nice to see your comic/art hauls 😀
I definitely would love to get the JIM big three - #83, 84, and 85, so I know what you mean when you say that #85 is your grail Thor book. I've seen the Essential Spider-Man books and I think the Essential series is pretty cool and a very affordable way to get multiple issues (although, it's unfortunate that one of your volumes has a printing error). I'm glad you enjoyed the video, Jeff! Thank you for your comment. ☺
Some beautiful comics here. I have a full set of JiM/Thor, though some of the earlier ones are lower grade. Even better, though, I had the time read the whole run all the way through to the present day. It was a wonderful experience and a really great story.
Wow, that is truly incredible! Do you have any favorite issues within that run? I would like to pick up the entire Kirby JIM/Thor run at some point and read it through. I appreciate your comment, Stephen. 👍
@KarensPages I love all the Kirby issues. I will collect anything Kirby. But there are also some epic continuing stories in the 70s Thor, such as the one where Balder is shot dead with a mistletoe arrow. Something like that.
Never will you have the same feeling reading comic from that era to a collected edition. Although i love reading collected editions comic still beats it by the mile. Glad i spotted your channel. Fun video!
Congrats! Great additions to your collection, and clearly it holds a lot of personal or sentimental value for you. I am not a Thor fan, never read when I was younger, but I absolutely love the Kirby art from those issues. I have considered picking up a couple issues just for the phenomenal Kirby cover art. Looking forward to that next video!
Thank you, TKjunction! ☺ I definitely think that Thor is among Kirby's finest work (along with the FF). But I also really like Kirby's art on other titles, such as Captain Victory and Kamandi.
Great books! Trying to finish my JIM run, also. Agree about the paper, if I can't get the original, I try to get the earliest reprint, so it's on newsprint. Nothing like the feel and smell of old paper.
Congratulations on scoring so many issues in one bulk purchase, Karen. Early Thor comics (I don't distinguish between the title change) have some of the best imagery in all the Marvel Silver Age era. Nor only is the cover art amazing, but the cover colors on many of those issues were also very special looking. JIM #114 is my all-time favourite issue, because I read it over and over as a kid when I got my hands on a copy of Bring on the Bad Guys, which reprinted the origin stories of all the classic Marvel villains. The Absorbing Man always looked so cool. I always loved the idea of a villain that looks like a prisoner on a chain gang and as a child, I thought his absorbing power was SO cool! For future comic book videos, perhaps consider shooting them from overhead as they lie flat on the table, that way you can show them raw with no glare. Having said that, the glare was mostly contained to the outside edges of the books, so it still worked out well! Thanks as always for incorporating the JIM original art images as well. The comic and art really compliment each other perfectly. You did a great job with this video, as always, so I'm really looking forward to the next one! 👍🤓🤗
Thank you, Rubén! I couldn't agree with you more about the early Thor comics. It's cool that you were able to read JIM 114 as a kid. I love Absorbing Man, too, because he reminds me of the bad guys in old school cartoons with the jail stripes. Thank you for the suggestion to film raw comics overhead. It's funny that you should mention that because I actually just bought a gimbal for my phone so that I can do more steady overhead shots of comics and flip-throughs. Thanks again! 👍☺
Oddly I noticed that the FF 39 & 40 reprint had an exchange between Ben and Johnny where the word balloons were swapped a their hair miscolored... When the Masterworks was done Vol 4 nobody noticed the screw-up!!
Hi Karen! I'm sorry a bit late with my comments. Those are great Journey into Mysteries that U purchased. Brings back special memories of those days. Yes, Chic Stone was a great inker to Jack Kirby's pencils on Thor, Fantastic Four and early issues of the Avengers and X-Men. Congrats on acquiring the comics. I look forward to your next video. Keep it up. Have a nice evening. Bye! Steven Romero
Thanks Steven! It's always nice to hear from you. Actually, I'm hanging out in my backyard editing my next video right now. I hope to get it out soon. I hope you have a nice evening, too! 👍
Hi Karen! How are U doing? I hope things are going well with U. I'm doing OK. I just turned the BIG 7-0. GULP! Can't wait until your next video. Just wanted to check on U. Have a great Monday. 👋 Steven Romero
@@stevenromero6526 Happy belated birthday! Congratulations on turning 70! Thanks for asking about me. I really appreciate it. I hope you are doing well.
@@KarensPages Good Morning Karen! Thanks so much for the belated Birthday 🎂 Greeting. I appreciate it. Hey, keep it going with your unboxing your comics and original art purchases. Who cares what other people say. It's your love to do and enjoy. Hey Sara from Comics Den unpacks trading card shipments and I don't hear anybody complaining. If U make a subtle change, that's fine. How is the Jack Kirby art that U wanted to frame coming along? Have an AWESOME Sunday. 👋 Steven Romero
Congrats on a great J.I.M haul. Also loved when you showed the original art for 114, especially the page where Thor's Hammer smashes into Absorbing Man's Chain Ball. I look forward to the future video when you unbox 83.
Hello. Nice video Karen. I have not gone thru my own collection or even read an old comic in 48 yrs. There is nothing like reading the actual comic in your hands and then there is the old comic book 'aroma' of which I still have not forgotten. Have a good day.
Karen, Happy to see you were able to obtain the Silver Age Thor issues. I, too, wish I had the earlier Thor issues, e.g., #83. I found your preference for certain inkers to Jack Kirby’s pencils very interesting. No one ever discusses inkers, When I completed my runs of Silver Age DC characters especially The Flash and Green Lantern, I realized that I missed the inking of Joe Giella on Gil Kane’s and Carmine Infantino’s pencils on early issues. He did not make the characters too muscular or lacking in certain characteristics such as facial expressions. 0:05 Mata ne!
Hi Kurenai! I totally agree with your comment. The inker can make quite a difference when it comes to the finished art. Plus, certain inkers work well on certain titles. It's cool to hear that you have complete runs of Silver Age DC characters. Thanks for your comment. Jaa ne (and since it's getting late, oyasumi)! ☺
I re-read my initial comment to your vlog. When I mentioned my run of DC Silver Age comics, it was only to show that many inkers (or pencillers), do not stay forever with their characters. Unfortunately, it causes changes in our favorite characters, It was not my intent to brag about my collection which a person can interpret it as such. Sumimasen.
@@Kurenai1819 Actually, I thought the opposite. When you mentioned that you had completed runs of DC Silver Age Comics, I thought that was super cool and wanted to ask you which titles you had completed. I didn't ask because I thought the question might be too intrusive. I never felt like you were bragging. I always look forward to reading your comments. ☺
@@Kurenai1819 Nihongo wa muzukashii desu (but I am trying to practice a little at a time). I want to take my family to Japan in the next few years (to see family).
I just discovered your channel and subscribed. What a great haul. The silver and early bronze age Thor comics are really good. The art on those books really pop. Look forward to watching more of your videos.
Thank you so much, Brian. I'm glad you found my channel and decided to subscribe. I totally agree with your comment. The art really stands out during those eras. If you are interested, I show Bronze Age Thor original art in my very first video as well as my most popular video to date. I usually try to highlight both comics and original art in my videos. 👍
Spectacular haul of J.I.M. Karen! Great comics by great creators at their peaks for sure. If you don't already have one, you should look into a copy of the Jack Kirby Mighty Thor Artist's Edition. It is a great volume and there are several full J.I.M. stories, along with other Thor issues, covers, etc., inside including #111, 117 and 118. It's my favorite artist's edition cover-to-cover. May take some searching to find one at a decent price since it's been out of print for awhile though. I had to chuckle, not only would I have to "really love" an original art page going for 5-figures to purchase it, but I would have to love it more than my house, daughter's education, marriage, etc. 😁! Although, if you're going to spend that amount of $$ on a page, Kirby Thor would at least have your "investment" base covered for sure. Great video and commentary as usual. Keep smiling that wonderful smile! Oh, and big shout out for the Odinsword!!
Thanks, LeadPaint, I appreciate your comment. When it comes to expensive original art, I do think about buying pieces that will hold their value (and hopefully appreciate over time). I probably came off a little too casual when talking about that Kirby/Colletta piece - 5 figures is a lot of money for me. Speaking of artist's editions...😉
Great gets and great video! FYI, I 'm having an auction on Whatnot for Journey Into Mystery, Tales to Astonish, Strange Tales, and Tales of Suspense. Shameless plug, but I didn't want you to miss out on some deal. Keep on being awesome in your videos!
Subscribed!! What an amazing collection you picked up. I just love Jack Kirby's art so much. The covers alone are so beautiful. Loved your video and looking forward to seeing more!
Thank you so much for subscribing! I love Jack Kirby art, too. He's one of my faves. I show a really special Kirby piece in my video titled My Most Massive and Epic Unboxing Ever. When you get a chance, check it out. It's still one of my favorite videos that I've made. Thanks again for checking out my channel! 👍
Very nice pick-ups, Karen. I'm a fan of the Jack Kirby/Chic Stone art team. I love this team on the early Fantastic Four comics in the mid 1960s as well.
Thank you, David! I enjoy Ayers' inks, too. On a side note, I just bought a bunch of Kirby Collectors recently and I'm pretty sure that they were all Ayers' personal copies. 😁
Mostly the later part of JIM in mid grades. Picked up Thor 165 and 337 in the past couple weeks. Been filling in the Thor run 126 through 225. Got most of the books just working on finding the big keys.
Those are some great books! I just finished my run of Kirby-era Thor books. I don't have any issues of Journey Into Mystery, but I think that I'm going to tackle that next.
That sounds like a great plan, CretanBull! 👍 Once I complete my JIM Thor run, I will probably continue with Kirby-era Thor books. What were your favorite books in that run?
@@KarensPages I'm super bias because I love Jack Kirby more than anything else in comics, and I think his work on Thor is overlooked (compare to what he did on Fantastic Four, for example) so I love all of them! Story wise, there's a great arc that starts in the late 140's and goes into the early 150's that is amazing...really great stories, excellent art, and some of Kirby's best covers ever IMO :)
Many congratulations on a wonderful collection of Thor comics. Each and everyone of them is a classic and it is just so amazing to have the original issues in hand. I am so very happy for you.
Absolutely amazing pickups! I learned today that Wally Wood also worked on Thor, thanks to you and I LOVE anything he worked on and his diverse history as an artist. Are you collecting just the Journey into Mystery with Thor, or do you plan on continuing to collect "The Mighty Thor?" I agree as well about reading the stories in an Omnibus vs. owning the actual comic book. There is nothing like flipping through those original pages, the smell of the comic from that time, there's just something about it that can never be matched. Thanks for another great video, Karen!
Thanks, Brandon! I definitely plan to collect all the Kirby JIM and Thor books, but I figured I would try to start on the JIM side. I appreciate hearing your thoughts on comic vs. omnibus. It seems like I'm not alone on that one. Take care! ☺
Nice JIMs and Thor issues Karen! They really pop well in those mylars. My fav is the last JIM book/issue you showed, particularly enjoy that cover and the colors surrounding the shadow of Hercules. And it's nice to dream about the OA from those classic Kirby issues when they come out ;) - wondering what's in that box tho!! looking fwd to seeing the unboxing
Thank you so much, Kavi! I dream about OA from those Kirby issues, too. I can't wait to share what's in the big box. I think it's really cool. I hope both comic and OA fans will enjoy it. 👍
Really nice additions! I think buying issues in lots are a great way to add Silver Age and early Bronze Age comics to your collection. You can sometimes sneak in an issue that is important to you when it's buried in a list of books that are included in the lot. And poor Donald Blake! Love it!
Thank you, Brendan! I definitely think that buying larger lots of raw comics is a great way to find some good deals, especially on Silver and Bronze Age books. I've been buying a decent amount of comics this way lately and it's been a lot of fun. 👍
Great lot of books! Some of my favs. I remember the 110 with Cobra and Hyde as it was taken away at school by my substitute teacher in 4th Grade! Mrs. Curtis! I still remember going to her home with my mom after school and saying I was sorry and asking if I might please have it back. She told me comics were bad and threw it away! I have about 6 copies of that book now in NM condition and every time I see it I buy it. I was offered the original art in the late 80's and couldn't afford it when my friend offered it to me and it killed me to see it broken up! I can't stand Mrs. Curtis!!! I love the way you handle your books and the care and appreciation you have for comics and art. That is why you are the first lady!
Thank you, Lance! I'm going to think of Mrs. Curtis every time I look at 110. I can't stand her either! I'm glad you ended up with 6 copies. My heart sank when you got to the original art part of the story, but that's the way it goes sometimes. ☺
Love your videos and passion in collecting. A lot of RUclipsrs are all about flipping and speculating, whereas your channel really shows the love for the stories and artwork. Do you send books to be graded? Id love a video on your take of raw vs graded books, must read stories, or tips on collecting for beginners? You’re amazing keep doing what you’re doing 🙂
Thank you so much, ChampagneWithComics! I have not sent any books to be graded yet; however, I have bought/do buy graded books in addition to raw books. At some point in the near future, I will submit a special book for grading and plan to make a video on it. Thanks for your future video suggestions. When I first started making videos, I had more varied content, but I have unintentionally started to focus on unboxing videos since I have several boxes to open. I will definitely keep your suggestions in mind. 👍
1st...I love the Microphone slap in the opening...like Morbius Biotch slapping Spidey in ASM 101. I Love those JIM's...so cool. I totally agree about Jack and Chic! Funny...122 is my Screen Saver....grated color freak here. Imagine how extra cool 124 Cvr would be with Chic inks. Another Fantastic video with Great production quality Karen
I absolutely agree on reading vintage comics vs Omnibus . Just not the same. And comics are less heavy. PS Journey Into Mystery (JIM) 93 is my all time favorite JIM book. Thor 143-144 is my favorite Thor (The Enchanters). Check those 2 out. There are so many great Thor books during that era. Wait till u get to the kingdom of Pluto!!! (Not the Disney Pluto).
What a haul! A lot of color gloss on those. 6.0 to 7.0 is a great grade to collect for older, pricier books. I like that grade spectrum, too. Thor is not a book I collected much of, but wish I had.
Thank you, spinnerrackstudios! I totally agree! 👍 I really like mid-grade comics because they still present well and I'm not afraid to pick them up and read them. Whereas, I might hesitate to handle them a lot if they are in really high grade. If not Thor, what titles do/did you collect?
That splash page is amazing (I bet the original looks even better). Congratulations! Great image of Thor and I love all the details. Also, I love the guy in the foreground forging the sword. Thanks for watching! 👍
Thank you! I'm always telling people I like to read comics and not omnibuses. You do lose something we you don't read them as a comic. I love midgrade comics. Love the fact that they have been read by someone else.
Great points, Mr. Akins! 👍 Also, I like mid-grade books because they look really nice, but are worn in enough that you still feel like you can read them (I get a little nervous handling comics when they are in really high grade).
So true, Bob! I love the smell of old comics. I'm doing well, but I've definitely been busy lately. But, sometimes busy is a good thing. How have you been lately?
Congrats, Karen! Collecting Thor is a wonderful area in Marvel Silver Age. You have lots more to keep adding to this great grouping! I agree with you on your Omnibus feelings. Too good, too perfect, too fancy. I always felt(and feel) Loki was too powerful. I had collected virtually all the Thor books in my childhood collection, which I traded in 1988. A few years ago, I rebuilt my run, sans the #83. Again, huge congrats, Karen!
It was super cool to see part of your JIM collection on your IG. #83 is definitely a grail book for me. One I hope to pick up someday. Thanks for your comment, Stephen! ☺
Great wins! You're a purist like me. I can't stand reading anything but the originals. The shiny pages are awful and reading digital is even worse! There's nothing like holding your own comic and reading it.
Thanks, nighttigercomics! Nothing can replace holding the actual comic in your hand. It's also cool to think that these comics were bought off the newsstands and read by enthusiastic collectors many decades ago. I definitely appreciate the history behind every comic. Hope you are doing well. 👍
I love Kirby/Stone FF. I have Vol. 1-4 FF omnibuses (they are in my background). FF #33 is a great issue. I love seeing Mr. Fantastic stretched out like a manta ray. It always makes me laugh. I'm working on collecting the entire Kirby FF comic run. Thanks for all of your comments, Ron! ☺
Thank you, Gabe. ☺ That was really nice to hear that you appreciated my thoughts on the CL page. It's hard to pass on original art sometimes, but as you well know, there is always another great page around the corner. What are the important factors to you when you are deciding on original art?
I am relatively new to the OA game (2-3 years) being primarily a golden age comic book collector. Timely to be specific. This is why i really enjoyed your Okajima video. That said , i am not a typical OA collector - I'm not focused on published only nor any specific characters or artists ... yet! I covet what I like. I also tend to like relationships so I do get hung up on certain living artists that I know and deal with regularly. Probably not very helpful however I suspect i will be refining criteria especially for the pricer pieces as i stay in the game .. so maybe a better answer in the future.
@@gabecarino9469 I didn't know that you are a Golden Age comic book collector. That's super cool! Your answer for original art makes perfect sense. It sounds like a very enjoyable way to collect original art. 👍
Do you mind if I ask where you find the collections on your wall? Trying to locate second Masterworks Volume TPB. Oddly, had both trade and HB but sold both.. so have a gap due to my own cluelessness...!!
I bought most of my omnibuses and TPBs on Amazon while they were still in print or re-released. I bought a few out-of-print books at auction and they were more expensive than the original list price. Which Masterworks TPB are you looking for?
In general, Vince Colletta did nothing for the penciler compared to other inkers. He was fast and efficient, however, and he helped books make deadlines.
I agree, Robert! 👍 Also, I'm not a big fan of his thin lines and the scratchy nature of his inks. I prefer other inkers on Kirby. But, I try to be sympathetic towards Colletta because of deadline crunches.
@@KarensPages If you have ever seen any of Mike Grell's work on the Warlord series, it is a stark example of differing inkers. Grell did his own inks originally. but he was in high demand for series and cover work, so eventually Colletta started inking over his pencils. It pained me to see it.
Congratulations Karen great pick ups , yes Kirby/Stone was a great combo, as well as Thor I always thought that Stone did some great inking on Cap. The only title I think he could have done a little better with the characters for me was the FF, his Thing has never quite grabbed my imagination, as far as Vinnie Colletta is concerned I have always thought that he has had a rough ride off a lot of fans, yeah I know he erased a lot of backgrounds and details etc but he was Stan's go to deadline man and at times had a massive workload to get through as I am sure you know, and I have always thought that fandom should have cut him a little more Slack, # 122 has always been one of my all time favourite covers its so powerful and Odin looks so regal, the colours on this cover for me are top notch and Kirby/Wood what a dream team I still re read their Skymasters strips with awe, yes the omnibuses have their place in the hobby but for me they can never touch the originals, but hey part of the joy of the originals for me is the smell of them, great video Karen looking forward to the next one, thanks for sharing , take care.
Thank you, Captain UK! I always enjoy reading your take on comics. ☺ I was never a huge fan of Colletta's inks (mainly due to his thin lines), but I try to be understanding about the position he was in. I have not had a chance to read the Skymasters strips, but the original art comes up at auction frequently and they always catch my eye. What are some of your favorite comics?
@@KarensPages Hi Karen, favourite comics ? wow where does one begin the first American comic I bought off the rack was Kamandi # 1 it just blew this 6 year olds mind at the time and the series still blows my mind today for me its Kirby at his best, such imagination with the story telling and wonderful artwork it inspired me about 30 years ago to take my first dip into the original art market as well when I bought page 13 from Kamandi # 24. I loved the bronze age DC ( National ) mysteries and horror titles when I was growing up as well as the Lee & Kirby FF's along with the early JIMS and X-men , I was lucky to be buying the big keys when they was still very affordable around the mid to late 80's early 90's, in the early 80's I started to appreciate the deep history of the comic book history reading book after book about the early creators this led me to Will Eisner as well as the EC stable which for many years now have also been favourites , the list is endless really Karen, and probally my favourite thing is still the anticipation of the next comic book I am going to read.
@@captain_uk Wow, Captain UK! I appreciate that you went in depth to answer my question. It's pretty awesome that you started your comic collection with Jack Kirby and Kamandi. Even better that you bought original art from Kamandi (I didn't realize that you collected original art). I can't wait for you to see one of my upcoming videos (probably three videos from now)! 👍
Why is everyone so concerned about a particular book being a key? Who even cares? Are you a comic book collector or an investor? Just collect comics, read them, enjoy the story and the artwork and repeat! It's that simple, people. Some of the best stories that I have read, were not "keys".

It's still better than Venom's first cover app: A Head!!
Nice haul. Definitely nicer to add thek to collection

Beautiful art. Doesn't have to be a key for the comic to be enjoyable or great. You have some good ones. Very nice presentation and video .

Fun video!
Well said, LahRasa! I appreciate you taking the time to check out my channel. Glad you liked the video! 👍

Thank you for the really nice compliment, CBYR! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. ☺

Great pick-ups! Your collection is growing by leaps and bounds...and Hammers! 👍
Thanks, Hart! I definitely added a few Hammers! 😁
Hello. Nice video Karen. I have not gone thru my own collection or even read an old comic in 48 yrs. There is nothing like reading the actual comic in your hands and then there is the old comic book 'aroma' of which I still have not forgotten. Have a good day.
Thanks, Ray! I definitely know what you mean by the comic book aroma. I love the smell of old books and comics. I hope you have a great day, too! ☺
Karen,
Happy to see you were able to obtain the Silver Age Thor issues. 0:05
Mata ne!
Nihongo ga joozu desu.👍

@@KarensPages I'm super bias because I love Jack Kirby more than anything else in comics, and I think his work on Thor is overlooked (compare to what he did on Fantastic Four, for example) so I love all of them!

Hey, Joe! I did it! I just hit 2K!

Congrats, Karen! Collecting Thor is a wonderful area in Marvel Silver Age. You have lots more to keep adding to this great grouping! I agree with you on your Omnibus feelings. Nice group of comics however I really appreciated listening to your thought process regarding passing on the page on Comic link. Decisions.
@@robertneal4244 I'm not familiar with Warlord, but I can imagine what the switch from Grell to Colletta probably looked like.
@@KarensPagesI look forward to seeing the video Karen.
The bubble wrap is strong with this one.
Wait until you see the next unboxing video...😅
thanks for the content! very insightful, i've meaning to get into Thor
Thanks for watching! Thor is awesome. I especially love Kirby's run.
Omnibus' have no soul like the original comics do.
Why is everyone so concerned about a particular book being a key? Who even cares? Are you a comic book collector or an investor? Just collect comics, read them, enjoy the story and the artwork and repeat! It's that simple, people. Some of the best stories that I have read, were not "keys".
I like all comics, but it's interesting to note which ones are keys (cool moments, origins, etc.). 👍
