It is a completly over the top, John Woo style movie that features the craziest sex scene ever. Oh and it is a reminder why you should eat your vegetables, especially carrots. Oh and you wont get a breather watching this one.

The killing of Daisy was actually a stroke of genius for this kind of movie. With a character like John Wick being able to deliver the level of revenge that he is capable of, Daisy's death gives the writers a blank check. After that, John Wick can do no wrong.

@itzryder8409 Honestly, this may be the first time I had seen anyone suggest that people didn't pick up on what the dog represented. It's quite obvious. John Wick literally expresses it in the movie. However, many other things could have represented the same thing. If someone stole her wedding ring, would it have had the same impact on the audience? Not likely. It's the intersection of the killing of the dog AND what the dog represents that gets the audience so invested.

    Fun Fact:
When John goes to the Club to kill the kid and starts with the bodyguard outside, He says, "You've lost weight" and Francis Replied "Over 60 pounds". This was actually a test AND a code between the two. John was testing him to see if he would help him (which is why he lets him go and tells him to take the night off) and Francis replies Over 60 pounds (or 27 kilograms), a code for nearly 27 security guys/henchman protecting the boy. This is also being used in the military forces around to world too. VERY cool way to again show us how much of a badass and how respected John Wick is. Also thee one thing I like about Keanu Reaves is the amount of effort he puts into a role. You can find videos of his training sessions for these movies where he spends countless time at a gun range training with all sorts of guns to the point where he knows how each gun he handles will behave IRL and will actually handle them accordingly for things like checking to ensure the weapons are not jammed. You will see him handle a pistol in the second John Wick movie where he will kinda toss the gun in his hand a little to press down on the chamber because the pistol he is using at that time is known for having bullets getting jammed and is checking the chamber to make sure it is clear enough to fire. Keanu also went through 4 months of training, 5 days a week, 8 hours a day to bring his character to life. He also went through Judo, Japanese Ju-Jutsu, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. So Keanu is that accurate and deadly in real life. You can find a few videos of his trainings with a company known as Taran Tactical. Keanu also had help from former Navy SEAL and CIA Contractor Shawn Ryan.

Keanu Reeves did many of his own stunts. There are videos on RUclips where he practiced for weeks with the stuntmen he ‘fought’ on screen, earning their respect and admiration. I think he bought motorcycles as gifts for all the stuntmen afterwards. There are also videos of him on a gun range, shooting live ammo, going through an obstacle course, reloading ammo at incredible speed to continue shooting. John Wick spared Francis the doorman bodyguard, because he gave him a ‘heads up’ info. The amount of weight he lost was codeword for how many gunmen were inside the Red Circle protecting Iosef. Did you recognized Iosef as Theon Greyjoy from Game of Thrones? The new dog was scheduled to be put down. In the end John Wick saved someone.

Dealing drugs was forbidden in the mob because it brought harm to civilians and the local cops would have to act. Those mob guys caught by their bosses dealing drugs were killed. The local cops also knew the mob guys had rules and if those rules were broken then the mob would deal with them. It was the FBI that went after the mob. The "thug" who was supposed to kill Daisy in "that" scene...felt awful about it, and spent a lot of extra time with the puppy, eventually adopting it himself. The actual dog's name is Andy, and he's still a happy beagle.
The dog John takes from the shelter was scheduled to be euthanized, which is why John picked it. It also happens to be Keanu Reeves' real-life dog.

Yes, Keanu Reeves has become kind of famous for being about as good or better than most career stuntmen. So he does almost everything himself in these movies. The way they include long shots with reloading is one of the really cool things about these movies.
The sequels explore the bigger world that's hinted at here, like with Jimmy the policeman knowing what's going on but not bothering him about it. There's kind of a secret hidden world of these assassins that some people know about but most of the public doesn't.
And yes, as you guessed, there is a special Continental hotel in most major cities.

This movie is almost perfect except for 3 things:
    1. Baba Yaga doesn't mean boogeyman. It literally translates to something like "grandmother witch."
    2. Theon Greyjoy yells at his friend to stop playing video games, presumably because the sound of gunshots is getting to him, except his friend is wearing giant headphones so Theon wouldn't be able to hear anything. Seeing as how nothing else is happening, it would actually be pretty quiet where he is.
    3. I wish they had given John a reason to stab himself, like he sees Vigo reaching for a concealed gun or something and can't deal with the knife situation in time. Because as it stands, John is wrestling with an old man and despite the fact that the old man isn't overpowering him in any way, John lets himself be stabbed, almost certainly just so we can have the opening scene with John "bleeding to death."

Oh, and also, the scene in the Red Circle...note that John is an extremely effective killer with precision aim and no real wasted movements or actions. So when Iosef goes running behind the glass and John shoots at him and misses four times, what happened there?
John missed deliberately. He doesn't just want Iosef dead. He wants him panicked, running for his life, scared for his very soul, and regretting ever having crossed the "fuckin' nobody" that turned out to be the devil incarnate, and only after he's terrified him to his very core and yanked every single semblance of hope from him does he want him dead. He could have killed Iosef at any point he wanted to in the Red Circle, but it wouldn't be as satisfying as letting him escape and living his last few days in sheer terror.

At its core, this is a love story. And the puppy crawling to John's side is the most touching thing ever. Also, the dog at the end of the movie is Keanu's actual dog. The world of John Wick is one of violence and order, as organized crime has been for centuries. But it's hard for criminals to abide by rules. Iosef has no concept of boundaries, because he thinks his father's power will be his one day. Viggo understands what it takes to be powerful, but he cannot suppress his greed and ego. Most other people in Wick's world understand the importance of maintaining order. The cop, for example, knows that John kills a lot of bad people. It's worth noting that John was barely polite to Perkins - I suspect he was aware of her capability for breaking the rules.
