The emphasis on the nasally voice makes ocean seem like even more of a brat than she already is and i just can't unhear this, love it.

The one song I genuinely think you NEED to react to is “It’s not a game, it’s just a ride” It brings me to tears every time I listen to it, the album version does it like to no justice
it’s just a riiiiiiiiiiiiiideeeee ugh I love that one
It seems like this is the one song that has had a lot of changes.
1) First one being the movie part. In this bootleg she says
"He smokes ganja, ooh it's so groovy,
To stay home and watch an Adam Sandler movie"
In the bootleg you watched for the previous video, she mentions Will Smith and one of the boys does his dance. In the official cast recording album, she instead says "Transformer movie"
2) Then comes the parts in which she addresses Ricky. In this bootleg she says:
"Dragon Ball, Pokémon,
He's a real sweet kid, but his brains are gone!"
In the bootleg you've watched for the previous videos, she says:
"Angry Birds, Candy Crush,
He's a real sweet kid, but his brains are mush"
And in the official cast recording album, she says:
"Pokémon, Spiderman,
This kid doesn't have an attention span"
So interesting! Seems it may be the actor’s choice!
@@singwithAshley I think it's mostly a change in direction for the musical. Modern adaptations apparently have Ricky use his crutches throughout the musical, instead of losing them in the beginning. There have also been some content changes to the musical, one I saw mentioned was that two characters do improv segments now that replace other moments.
Personally, I prefer the second one of these (the one you've watched previously), the characters interact better in my opinion.
Also, I saw another comment mention this, but if you want to react to the first song of the show, there are two versions. One is from said bootleg and earlier versions of the show, called Fall Fair Suite. The second one is from most recent versions and is in the official cast recording, titled Uranium Suite.
as for the will Smith thing, that changed depending on the actor playing mischa. they'd ask them what his favorite actor/movie was and change the lyric to that.

There are couple different versions of the opening songs that you can find on youtube, but personally i rlly like them all tbh, they're called "Tragic Fact", "Fall Fair suite" and "Waiting for the drop", also on the official cast recording there's "Uranium suite" and "Karnak's dream of life". They're all really good songs.
One song I also really like is the ending song, "It's not a Game/It's just a Ride", it can also be found on youtube

Well, Sugar cloud is the last Character song to be exact there are still other songs like waiting for the drop, uranium suit, etc.

it would be cool to see you compare the different versions of the opening! there’s 4: uranium suite, fall fair suite, uranium and waiting for the drop. they’re all very different songs but they take the same place in the show.

This is such a good analyzation of this piece! As someone who trained classically and in contemporary mt this is exactly what my vocal ped coach would have said. I just loved that you speak on approaching this in a mix, and not in full chest!

when you were talking about the vowel “I” and how funky it can can sound, i think that’s called a diphthong. instead of saying vowels like “i-ee” or “a-ee”, you’re supposed to use the combination of multiple sounds, like “ah-ee” (i) or “eh-ee” (a) so it sounds more pleasant to our ears.
You’re absolutely correct! When 2 vowels work together to make a sound, those are diphthongs! Great catch! When singing, we manipulate these sounds to modify our resonance and tone. So that we can create a more blended overall tone. We also use vowel manipulation to help us nail some of those tricky notes in a healthy way!
the video you reacted to is from a different production from the rest of them, by the way! i personally dont like this one as much, mostly because the quality isnt the best. not sure why the one im familiar with isn't available by itself on youtube lol
this version to me sounds a bit more rushed than the one im most familiar with, it sounds so weird after watching the other one so many times lol
@@letsdancekitties I actually prefer this version to the one from the full bootleg, especially the 'oh oh, he'll never learn to read' bit because the energy is so much better in this version, probably because it was a later production and she had more time to perfect it. So it sounds more similar to what ended up on the cast recording

As A guy, I've struggled alot centering myself on those high notes and being able to project my speaking voice like she does up there on that E. Do the same rules apply here?
Hi Jesse! each Body and voice is different. I would suggest “scooping” with different vowels (aim tall yet forward) to find what works best with YOUR VOICE. Record yourself to see how you like your sound and watch out for strain on your vocal chords. We don’t want that!!
Oh!! And and I like to expand my stomach when attempting to ground myself for higher notes! 🎉

I 100% recommend a song from Thomas Sanders called “Crofters the musical” it’s a song from his series Sanders sides, if you react to other songs from him I suggest his cover of “Landslide.” Or “Into the unknown”! (Not the frozen song) He’s a very good singer, and totally recommend him!

If you’re ever interested in seeing different versions of songs from this musical, there’s some videos up of the McCarter theater production on RUclips. Their Jane Doe has more of the Classic Broadway Soprano/Brighter Soprano voice going on like you were mentioning at the end of this video, and it makes a really neat contrast to the darker tone the one you watched used.

I don't know why, but I use your videos to work on ride the Cyclone songs. The first time I listen to it I do whatever I want or whatever is comfortable to me. And when you correct it for the singer I try the correction and it helps me. So these videos are really good way for me to work on those songs. Like you were saying that "I get up" part where she doesn't use her head voice I tried it with and without my head voice and using head voice does help me. I also used The Ballad Of Jane Doe and Fall Fair Suite. It helps me by the way you broke everything down, the way you explain it is a very nice way. I remember in the Fall Fair Suite video you were talking about the jump on the word "rot" that Noel was singing and the way you explained helped me hit the note. Same with Jane's Doe part also in Fall Fair Suite. The way you broke it all down was a very easy way for my brain to comprehend. Thank you so much for helping me (Even though you were really just saying stuff about the singer.) it made more confident to sing the songs. (I'm so sorry this is so long.)

@@singwithAshley The only harder thing for me is I'm a Alto that can kinda hit some soprano notes and tenor notes. It does cause a bit of struggle though so in some moments when she's having a higher note I have to use my head voice a lot.
