Please note!! I will continue to make videos about the canals for this channel as explained in the prior video; I just won't be on my own (narrow)boat. And yes, there will be cruising videos too :-)
I appreciate you’ll be continuing in some capacity but it’s such a shame there will be no more of these vlogs. I much prefer these to the local news style films you’ve been doing.
@CruisingTheCut Would you please look into doing a video on the Cromford Canal restoration. I heard, it has a interestingly canal tunnel with a underground wharf that is under Butterley. Not sure if it is still accessible and what the restoration project plans on this.
I find it interesting to realize how much I've missed the calming sound of your voice as you describe the scenes during a cruise. I believe I'll have to go back and re-watch all of your videos from the beginning. I am happy for you to see the boat has sold (subject to survey). 👍
I applaud you for doing what you feel right in your life. RUclips and social media in general is fickle. Your following is likely due to your style and narrative than anything else. I would think a majority of viewers would continue to watch your journey no matter where you reside. I tip my hat and raise my glass to you for all the the entertainment you’ve given me thus far. Best of luck on the journey ahead
Yours has been the first Narrow Boat Vlog I started watching and I must say I have really enjoyed your many adventures. I wish I was 30 years younger I would have loved to try the canals for a few years. But watching your RUclips channel has been the next best thing. Thanks for sharing David!!!
I'm glad that you vlogged the final solo cruise. I believe you were my introduction to the wonderful world of narrow boating. Seeing this chapter come to a close wraps it up nicely. Very happy to know the next chapter still includes the canals and more cruising. I hope you consider keeping the engine sound at the start of at least some of the videos. There is some soothing about it to me.
Thank you is order.... I've learned about England in a way I never would have ..... the history in making that canal system... and how vast it is !! Keep them coming.
I thoroughly enjoyed this one David, no one seems to do narration quite like you, which has always increased the entertainment value immensely. I look forward to your next installment. Take very good care until then.
The melancholy ripples nearby. How do you explain the salve for the soul that was travel with our far away Captain? Having a good long think these past few years and allowing us to join you as you journeyed and shared a chuckle. It was magnificent. I will be grateful for further videos (and chortles) but I cannot help but sigh, noting the present day's dearth of entertainment that let's you breathe and invites you to think to yourself about the world. This took me by surprise when David's videos popped up. To lean on those few minutes out in the English countryside and not be worried about the daily dreads that try to take over our minds, insisting on our attention. A hammer shattering depth in thinking. It was a damn good ride and while I take pride in David's pragmatic and wise choice to keep his eyes scanning the future and bow pointed forward, I will miss these meditations.
I appreciate what you’re saying, but it won’t be quite the same. Who knows your “new” videos could be even better, but that’s not going to be easy. Can’t wait to see your new house.🏡
Your cruising videos are always a tonic. The stress of the day fades as I watch the countryside (or cityscape depending upon the video) slip past and your observational voiceovers make me smile or laugh. I shall miss them, but all good things. On to parts two and three of the final voyage, and all the back catalog whenever the cruising mood strike! Hoping all went/goes well with the boat survey.
I understand your reason for moving on, but, I have to say I enjoyed your cruising videos very much and will miss them Looking forward to your new ventures
Hi David. I must admit your probably one of the only vloggers ,where 80+ % of the vlog is about the canals itself. which is now rare , as most of the currant breed of boating vlogs tend mostly to be about the vloggers themselves rather than the subject . Wish you all the very best for the future David. Please keep the content coming .
And this is exactly why I can't stand other channels. It's almost never about the canals or even the boats. It's about the vloggers' lives in general, along with poor presentation and low production value. Not everyone cares about that. Guess I'll stay here.
Thank you so much for everything you have put out there the last few years! You have been delightful, I am happy you are making a decision that works for you. You have thousands of loyal followers who will definitely stick with you during this time!
Oscar-winning film, had everything, scenery, you're wonderful voice, the clever use of descriptive words, capturing the whole panoramic view, loved every second, 🐳🧜 Nicola
Goodness have I missed your soothing commentary on the cruise! Bah humbug indeed. This phase of the channel will be missed but rest assured I’ll still be enjoying all your features on the different projects and happenings around the canals. All the best for the future!
Oh, how I miss your cruising videos. I’ve tried to watch those of other narrowboaters, but they are just not as well put together or relaxing. Thank you so much for your archive of peaceful cruising videos.
Your a one of a kind cruising GEM...😍. hmmm.10 days?! so maybe we might get 10 or more vlogs of duck feeding.... And you at the tiller😉 yes please!!! The canals need you....to show other boaters how vloging is done well......😉
It's nice to see you out on the cut in your boat again even if it is the last cruise. I've always enjoyed your videos no matter the content. @ 3:45 My dad would have said: "Cows don't like round bales; they can't get a square meal." Safe Travels!
Part of me is sad that you are selling your boat. Then I said to myself, “Self, it’s just a boat!” Then I looked at it as the boat is a part of your adventure and you are taking another path. Life goes on, things change and it all comes down to your happiness and what you want/need to do. I’m excited to see what comes next, what I will learn from you and what bits of England I get to enjoy through your videos. I am so thrilled you are going to keep making videos and I wish you much success. Take care David!
I feel like I'm watching the very last episodes of a favorite TV show. And it's a bit sad, even though the show is very good. Thanks for all the episodes.
Glorious cruising video as always! Here's looking to many more. Luckily, I'm not here for Wreyl... "The Boat," but for the chap with the microphone. If there are stories to be told, we still have the best storyteller on the canals.
Your boat handling skills have grown considerably. I remember your first few episodes and your talking about how difficult it is to reverse a narrowboat. Love your diction “a friendly caress”. This is a reason for listening to anything you publish.
Oh, it's sooo bittersweet to watch. As difficult and tiresome the cruising has become for you, your narration (with puns, no less!) and the fleeting little clips of people and animals along the way, I do enjoy the way you capture the journey. Cheers!
I miss these Cruising the Cut videos. I can sit and watch them for hours. The best part of Cruising the Cut videos is the running comentry....unbeatable value.
I understand and respect your decisions to stop cruising and making cruising vlogs. However, I will say, you still make the best best cruising videos and they will be missed. Also, it will hurt my research into the mind control ducks as well as my theory that the Canadian Geese on the cut are an MI6 plot to track certain boaters 😁
I will miss you on your narrowboat David…providing exquisite vids of the English countryside. So tranquil and soothing. You should be recommended by the NHS as an anti-stress regime to follow daily.
Greetings from Croatia. I learned all about your English channels thanks to your videos. And it is sad now to see that the ship I have been following for a very long time has been sold.
I'm glad your continuing with vlogs about the canals, your presentations are like watching BBC tv, professional and good quality so I look forward to the coming vlogs.
I'm going to miss your channel so much. Thank you for all the relaxing serenity and introducing me to the beautiful canals in the UK. Good luck to you no matter what path you next choose. Cheers from the USA 🇺🇸🇬🇧
Oh, this makes me realise how much I missed David's cruising vlogs. No-one else garnishes his vlogs with as funny and witty comments as David does. Cheers.
I'm going to miss following your travels and finding the points of interest in real time on google maps, as I watch your cruising videos. But I commend you on your scrupulous planning and I look forward to whatever content you decided to put out in the future. Cheerio!
End of an era... But we all must learn to adapt to new circumstances. Best of luck to you! Perhaps another cooking video in your new kitchen?? The world could use a good chuckle. We love David!

Didn't realize how much I have missed following along with you on your cruising videos, even if this set is a little bittersweet, marking, as it does, the end of a much beloved era. Looking forward to your new trips and new adventures from the land of indoor plumbing, unlimited potable water and more or less dependable electricity. Onward and upward!
Bittersweet! Seeing this new solo cruising video reminded me of why I love them so much - your continual, often witty, descriptions along the journey! The inevitable herons! I have missed this, since you have been static. Ah well, the only constant is change. I have truly enjoyed your cruising while it lasted, all these years, and thank you for bringing us along. I look forward to your upcoming documentary videos, David. 👍
Any stress from my (adult) children, grandchildren, and my life in general dissolves instantly when watching David's cruising videos and listening to his narration. Cheerio!
What an absolutely gorgeous video. I am enjoying every minute of this video. I can understand why you are changing your lifestyle but I am looking forward to your future vlogs what ever they my be.
Cool to see you’re feeding the ducks. Maybe Narrowboat chef could make a duck breast recipe 😅. I hope that you will leave your cruising videos up for the pleasure of revisiting. I binged your channel when I discovered it a couple of years ago. And it helped me during the pandemic. And because of you I just want to go visit 🏴. Thanks for the share. 👍🏻✌🏻🇨🇦
Sorry to see Wreyland go David, however, you’re doing what is best for your future. I’m happy I can always go back and view your cruising videos here on RUclips any time. I’m looking forward to your canal documentaries in the future. 😃
Whole thing made me cry, you got thru 3 surgeries on my broken arm and provided such solace that now knowing this is your last trip by yourself is just so hard for me, I know it's best for you but some things are hard to let go of and you cruising is one of them.
:) ahhhh, Mr Jaded Heart. Bah humbug indeed. :) As someone who has been happily single for over a decade, I can't imagine life being any other way. The freedom is exhilarating. :)
Don’t do this to me! Surely it can’t be Friday already? No - good. This must have been a bittersweet trip for you David. Your final trip before a whole new life begins, although you will never be far from the canals as you told us. Bittersweet? Yes, but you must be excited at the new challenges ahead. Will you give us an “Escape To The Country” style vlog about your house-hunting ventures? Good luck David. We’re all rooting for you out here! John, Ontario, Canada
The start of the final cruising (on your own boat) video trilogy is bittersweet. Excited for new things to come but really going to miss the cruising videos.
I forgot how much I enjoyed canal cruising videos. The other two channels I watch, the narrow boat experience and foxes afloat sadly have also sold their boats. But for every alpha there is an omega and while there are others channels so far I have found none as interesting and entertaining. Thank you for all you vlogs. Look forward to the future vlogs.
*sigs* I can understand realy the cirumstances, still im kinda sad.. it was a long yourney you took us on and thank you for all that. Realy looking forward to the Spring cruising videos - They helped me in the last years a lot to get thru the Pandemic. I dont know why, but i feel kinda attached to this Boat - I hope the new owner(s) will take good care of it
Was happy for you when I saw the note that the boat is sold. Here is where you can enjoy that gratifying feeling that comes from knowing all the hard work you did "de-rusting" and painting will (hopefully) be repaid in a problem-free survey and perhaps a few extra quid to go into the house fund.
I will miss your cruising video, I am Canadian, never been in your country so far, but thanks to you I discovered beautiful parts of it. You are doing a great job with this channel.
Your videos introduced me to the narrowboating world so its a bittersweet moment watching these videos. All good things must come to an end, I suppose.
This video was kind of historic to me as it is the final journey on your faithfull boat. I have been following your channel for years, and look forward to new adventures together with you. Going for a nice home sounds like just the right thing to do now, and kudos for doing it 'in time'. Good luck with the sale, and buying a new place 😊🌻🎉 Thanks for years of quality content!
Thanks for the video. Always like your commentary on the things you see and encounter. Your way with word reminds me somewhat, of the walking guild writer, Alfred Wainwright.
Please continue good sir - english canal boating stuff is different without you. You brought me to follow this UK canal stuff. And thank you , been a a nice ride. Finland out!
I'm really gonna miss your solo cruising videos David. But I can see in your eyes and face and hear in your voice your passion for solo cruising just isn't their. I've tried other cruising channels but just don't enjoy like I do yours. I'm staying subbed and look forward to seeing more of your videos. Best of luck on finding a home and enjoying as much as you did your boat!! All the best!!!
Your great channel has given me absolute joy for inland cruising, many others try but nobody does half as well, please keep up the videos ,all will be watched
My nan and grandad used to live in Whittington and the garden backed out onto the canal it was Incredible growing up with that at the end of the garden
Thank goodness you'll be continuing with your channel and the cruising (despite it being on others boats) as your vlogs are always so descriptive and educating. No doubt the sale will go through without a hitch and congratulations on it happening so quickly, so you can move on with your plan. Good Luck and I look forward to more in the future.
I'm proud of you, Dave. This decision couldn't have been easy to make. But I think you will be happy to see many of us will continue to watch your videos. Your work is excellent.
Please note!! I will continue to make videos about the canals for this channel as explained in the prior video; I just won't be on my own (narrow)boat. And yes, there will be cruising videos too :-)
I would like to see a few homeowners DIY videos around your new house. Always loved your narrowboat DIY videos.
I could see one of those mini boats (great reviews) and a cruising club in your future. 😀
Thank you for this!!
I appreciate you’ll be continuing in some capacity but it’s such a shame there will be no more of these vlogs. I much prefer these to the local news style films you’ve been doing.

💯 as evidenced by David's Vandemonium channel.
and it went well!
This is like the old days; a deadpan face, jokes, puns and nice shots of animals. Hope we see some happy doggies on the towpath.
Yours has been the first Narrow Boat Vlog I started watching and I must say I have really enjoyed your many adventures. I wish I was 30 years younger I would have loved to try the canals for a few years. But watching your RUclips channel has been the next best thing. Thanks for sharing David!!!

Seeing this title made me so emotionally my goodness 😭😭😭 goodbye to the boat may whoever buys it take super good care of it
I'm going to miss "Cruising The Cut" , mate.... Your the only one that does it right, with narration of quality review.
Cheers but I am continuing to make videos about the canals for this channel; I just won't be on my own (narrow)boat

Ahhh the sound of cruising 😎. Hope you enjoyed your time out David.
Best 18 minutes I have spent all week. What an oasis in the sea of stress, tension, and turmoil. TYVM indeed.
These traveling narratives helped greatly during the early dark days of the pandemic. I'll miss them. They were transporting - both you and us!

Your videos introduced me to the narrowboating world so its a bittersweet moment watching these videos. All good things must come to an end, I suppose.
Your cruise descriptions are unsurpassed. This was enjoyable.
It's good to see a classic cruising vlog again, but sad to know they're coming to an end.
Thanks for the video.
Always like your commentary on the things you see and encounter.
Your way with word reminds me somewhat, of the walking guild writer, Alfred Wainwright.
High praise David! Wainwright is a legend. 😊
It was nice to be out on the cut again. Thanks for taking us cruising with you.
Please continue good sir - english canal boating stuff is different without you.
You brought me to follow this UK canal stuff. And thank you , been a a nice ride. Finland out!
Thanks for filming the final cruise of your canal boat. It felt like old times. Cheerio!
That's the stretch of canal I remember from my childhood. Good to see it featured on the last cruise.
Oh how I shall miss these calm, peaceful adventures. Enjoy the others but really can't tell you how much serenity your cruising vlogs bring me.
There will be (some) cruising videos, just not on my own boat!
I won’t lie. I shall miss your cruising vlogs. As another viewer said I shall have to watch again from the start of your journey.
Just to wish you well and thank you for the many canal journeys that sooth the soul (plus a lot of good info!!)
Still some of the best TV I've ever watched.
You just turned a “Lazy River” into a delightful Cruise of Tranquility.
Thank you for this, David. Happy for you that you sold your boat and things are progressing as you have planned.
that was nice just like the old days. brian d.
I do miss your yearly trips. Times change and we find ourselves enjoying other adventures. I will continue to wait eagerly for the next video.
As always David, Thank you for bringing us along on your journeys.
I eagerly look forward to the adventures to come!
