I preferred the 12" of this over the single, but still thrilled this went to #1.
Ended the year at #16 on Billboard & #21 on the Canadian charts!!!
The 3rd Male Scottish Band to have a #1 U.S. hit, ( AWB & Bay City Rollers ) song finished #30 on WPLJ Top 95
Despite the fact that Simple Minds had more than one hit single, this song is still the only one of their hits that still gets played on a regular basis on classic hits stations these days (though I actually like this song nonetheless)!
I do remember the other "big one" they had here - "Alive And Kicking."
Lyrics:
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Ooh, woah
Won't you come see about me?
I'll be alone, dancing you know it, baby
Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving me everything inside and out and
Love's strange so real in the dark
Think of the tender things that we were working on
Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby
Don't you forget about me
Don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't you forget about me
Will you stand above me
Look my way, never love me
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down
Will you recognize me
Call my name or walk on by
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down, down
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Ooh, woah
Don't you try to pretend
It's my feeling we'll win in the end
I won't harm you or touch your defenses
Vanity, insecurity, ah
Don't you forget about me
I'll be alone, dancing you know it, baby
Going to take you apart
I'll put us back together at heart, baby
Don't you forget about me
Don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't you forget about me
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
When you walk away
Oh, will you walk away?
Will you walk on by?
Come on, call my name
Will you call my name?
I say
La la la…
When you walk on by
And you call my name…
Thank you 😊,
JaneLee

OOH, I get to say it first! From the movie The Breakfast Club!
Regular Show anyone?
Family Guy again
One example of why I just cannot stand much top 40 past 83… detested this one at the time and still do.. I was 15 at the time… even then preferred more ac leaning songs
One of those “discriminating sophisticated types” that I referred 2 back in the day, aren’t U Retro?????
No just that things changed past 83.. 75-83 was what I grew up on 5-13 years old .. still wear the automation tapes out daily from drake chenault, tm, stereo rock even bonneville middle of the road.. that was my time.. past 13 or 14 started delving into the deeper cuts of the early 70’s and 60’s. 79,80,81 with its variety appeals to me to this day
