Hi and Hello it was a drug and alcohol residential treatment center with after care services .The man behind it all was an Irish man Father Dermot Brosnan ( R.I.P). You may view a part of his story online.Obituary. Hope this helps a little bit. Your video and others made me feel like a ghost walking through the place . I use to live in the main dorm, second floor north end west side. Thank You

I remember St John’s Minor Seminary in San Antonio, TX first around 1956 when I accompanied a neighbor from Corpus Christi TX whose son joined the seminary after his eighth grade year in Catholic School. I once, again, came upon the seminary in the 1970’s when I attended Our Lady of the Lake University. I attended Sunday Mass there. At the time it was still a minor seminary for young men in their teens in high school from grades 9 through 12. It’s mission was to help nurture a vocation to the priesthood. At that time, it was maintained by the Diocese of San Antonio. The main diocesan priests there were Father Balty Janeck who was the Rector and highly regarded. I remember he smoked a pipe and he was fluent in Spanish. He was known as a priest’s priest. He was from the area of Waco, TX from what I recall. There was also Father Charles Herzig who eventually became Bishop of the Diocese of Tyler, TX. He was tall and thin and just as nice and intelligent as Fr. Janacek. They seemed to make a good team in operating the seminary and inspiring vocations. The third priest was Father John O’Donahue. He was a young Irish priest whose birthday I recall was on Feb. 14. He had a good sense of humor. I think the three priests worked well together. I know that Fr Janacek and Bishop Herzig have since passed away. I don’t know if Fr O’Donohue is still living but if he is, I’d say he was in his 80’s.
The seminary campus was beautiful and well kept. The young men were well behaved.
On another side of the seminary was a two-story convent. I don’t recall the name of the congregation but the sisters cooked three meals a day for the seminarians and the three priests.
Due to a decline of vocations, I am sure that is why the seminary was closed but The structures were then taken over and made into a drug rehabilitation center. I had a friend who was one of the drug counselors there.
It broke my heart to see that the Catholic Chapel had been broken into. I noticed that some of the graffiti were Satanic symbols on the walls and on a few of the pews. I wish the diocese would be made aware of it and that the chapel be locked securely or demolished.

What's crazy is that I'm in love with going to places like these, well not this scary. I'm actually related to the girl that died at the Menger Hotel. Sally White was my step mom's aunt and when I found out I was shocked. I mean I'm not super related but just a little, and what's even crazier is that she's baried on top of my step mom's grandmother that's with her grandpa. And this hotel is very nice and very cool if you love take photos cause man have I caught a lot of stuff.. but yeah 😂 (It's right but the Alamo downtown and it's super nice to go down there during Christmas, my dad used to put the big Christmas tree in the middle of the hotel.

St Johns, I lived there in the 1990s. A milestone in my life. The building missing its walls was the classrooms. The area with graffiti, the door went to the nursing area. We played ping pong in the wide open area. The main building was the door... the showers were downstairs and the dorm areas were on the top two floor. In the church, I and a few peers started a band, per encouragement from the Patricians, and we would played a few nights in the alter area. Learned to play Tejano on that alter. When I picked up the book, Anselm's Proslogion, the man said, "Just read it and let it sink in."

@@freeleymedia sorry didnt mean to sound bad. I was a substance abuse counselor. It was an inpatient treatment for non violent no record drug offenders. The area that was locked was the mens dorm. Three stories high. Each floor had about 25 beds. The building with the missing walls was where we taught classes on sobriety and spirituality. We caught several men and women having sex inside that church chapel. The building way in the back was the cafeteria. No one will jump you there or attack you. However several times i got scared because at night you can hear bells ring from the mission building next door. However there are no bells there thats why i hated working nights there. Cool video though. Thanks for the upload.
