Thank you. Will you also use the High Speed Printer Kit upgrade for the SP5? If you, would be great to see another video and see the difference. Have a great weekend!
I have the V1.1 with two z end stop. Now I would like so spend my 3D printer a new mainboard. What is important to know? Is there a video or website that shows that in detail? I think: isolation, cable management. Safty first! Thank you for tips.
@@EmbraceMaking 80 Euro for two ballscrews would be OK for me, if this will improve the z surface, but I'm not absolutly sure to do that. Also I don't see other CoreXY printer with ballscrews. So I will think about it, now I have received the High Speed Kit. Here I have to find out how to add the BL/3D Touch.
ive had one of these printers for 3 years an the hotend was crap out of the box an give me trouble getting the first layer to stick, ive still not fixed it but its been sitting in its enclosure in the corner an hasnt had a roll of filament printed through it. where its at makes it hard to change filament an i know i will end up having to use glue stick to get the first layer to stick so ive always picked one of my other machines to use an ive been waiting for the day to drag it out an change the hotend an a different bed an bltouch, i even have a biqu h2 direct drive hotend and bltouch to go on the bed an a smooth glass to use instead of the crap textured glass it came with but ive not need the machine with all my others an im bout to spend a grand on a bambu labs p1s combo but at the same time i really need to get this machine out an lined out, it works its just not as convenient as my other machines an that includes $150 machines up to $500+ an so i need to get it right an i need to do so b4 i get the bambu labs machine or i'll never get around to doing anything to it an if i could sell them i would but out of the 5yrs ive been messing with 3d printers ive never been able to sell one. ive bought them but never found anyone willing to buy local to me so ive got all of the printers ive ever owned still.
This has been one of my favorite "hidden gem" printers for awhile. It really is a great base to build off of. I try to tell anyone looking at an ender 5 to look at this instead.
@@EmbraceMaking mine has a custom motion system based on MercuryOne.1 with the EVA3 toolhead and EBB36 canbus. The sp5 is just a really good deal for a platform to modify.
@@EmbraceMakingI have an older version of this but basics are the same. I have made a bracket for extruder to be about 100mm above the printer (pointing 30 degrees upwards) which has enabled me to have about 400mm Capricorn bowden tube. That has enabled me to print TPU and it is giving generally lower retraction settings.
I've been running one of these for a few years now. Be warned they have some quality issues. Mine had several holes drilled misaligned that caused a ton of z binding and the steel frame at the top was bent. Most importantly, the gantry is absolute trash. By the time you get proper belt tension, you are bending the front pulley shafts. If you have the ability to convert the x and y pulley systems this thing is a winner. If not you get a noisy and slow corexy.
Ive had a few people comment now they've had problems with these machines. I'm wondering / hoping if they've fixed some of those issues with the newer models. So far mine has been pretty good minus the software nonsense of getting the bltouch to work. Does the one in my video look like the exact same design as yours from a few years ago?

I bought my SP5 around 1 years ago, not using it too much but i need to do some upgrades too. I bought BL touch with machine but no idea to how to install and program it. May your video helps it out. Firmware version is same as you v2.0.3.1 . My biggest issue is part warping out from bed and cracks between some layers. ABS filament loaded.
I bought and returned an SP-5 last year. Among several problems, the bearing brackets at the top of the z-screws weren't square causing the screw to bind. Tech support seemed more interested in blaming me, so after 2-3 months of working with them without any resolution in sight I ended up returning the printer. And yes, I also had the bed bowing problem. But maybe they've fixed some of the other issues, as you didn't run into the same problems as I did.
Sorry to hear that! Mine has still been working fine for me, but I have noticed some other comments where some others have also had frustrating experiences unfortunately :(
25:00 i'm stuck here, installed sensor, every setting is fine but when homing printer head stops in wrong position, its like bed size 200x200. Tried different bed size like 296x296, 300x300 but no luck, i can't pass from middle of bed x or y axis even manually move head. What could be problem ? edit: Tried 600x600 now head goes somewhere at center. Should i change steps settings ? it's at 80.5 edit2: Changed steps settings to 160, bed size to 295x295, now it seems fine for now. edit3: Autoleveling not happening in like video, couldn't find "factory reset" button. Tried to print bed leveling test but extruder not moving.

Hi, do you think a ball screw instead the T8 Lead Screw can improve the z?
My kit is on the way and I’m thinking about what I could improve.
Possible but probably not necessary... ballscrews are generally very expensive but would be a fun experiment

Original firmware and hotend sucks. Change to diamond mount and klipper firmware and its performing lightyears better.
I was recently sent their new "high speed" kit which I believe is going to be klipper based... I've yet to dig into it but I will soon and confirm.
