1:05 - Haru, Makoto and Futaba aren't joining in the ice-skating not because they're intel-gathering badasses, but because of their backgrounds, they never got the chance to learn how to ice-skate.
SPOILER ALERT: That does make a lot of sense, Futaba was a shut in for the majority of her life, apart from her childhood and even then her mum never spent a lot of time with her. With Makoto, she lost both of her parents when she was young and with Haru, her father did not want her to do anything that would affect the Okumura name.
Admittedly, I started playing Persona games relatively late, actually just at the beginning of this year, with P5 being my first. But right as I saw this intro for the first time, I knew I was in for something special. Now it’s my favorite series of all time.

Without any doubt. Everything is so much better here. Music, animation creativity and general atmosphere which is perfectly blending with whole game. No seriously, background track is just pure awesome.
This one succeeds not only in animation, but symbolism. Ice skating on highways is a much more subtle and creative way of saying “fuck society” than hitting buildings with baseball bats. I do see that they were going for a more cheerful tone in the Royal opening, but that’s where this opening beats it in animation quality.

1:05 I always found this part of the trailer weird at least when it comes to Haru. The opening does a good job at showing you a peak of everyone’s personality, Futaba is working hard on the computer, Yusuke is painting with all his might, Makoto is paying close attention and writing down notes, etc. But Haru in the other hand is eating junk food with a layback face sitting unladylike, giving a feeling of laziness or I don’t care vibes which is the completely opposite of her character. I think it would have been better if she was sitting well mannered drinking some tea with a happy calm face. ...Am I the only one who finds this strange? 🤔
My personal theory is that It represents her rejecting her family's tradutions, which she has been known to do. Like her room for example not being fancy in P5D, Ryuji even says he didn't think it would look so normal. I think it just goes to show how much she hated the Okumura lifestyle. I hope that cleared some things up, and hey at the end of the day It's just a theory

before i know anything about persona, my cousin booted up this game on his ps4, and when i saw this intro i actually asked him, "so is this like a skating game?" since everyone was skating in the intro.
What else do you guys expect from a Persona game? Persona games just seem like they are pretty well made games overall. And this game was about what I thought that it would be,but in a really good way. I always seem to have high expectations for Persona games and they ALWAYS just seem to deliver the goods. And they even seem to deliver some goods that I wasn't even expecting them to either as well. I just really have to hand it to the people who make the Persona series. I wouldn't mind seeing them do a spin off of the main game that followed Elizabeth some more (besides what you saw in the Persona Arena games). In her journey(s) to find a way to free the Persona 3 MC Minato,WITHOUT breaking the seal on the door he is currently sealing shut as well in the process. And during those journey(s) she also gets more real world experience as well. And she sees how things actually work and she also learns even more about the outside world outside the velvet room and about the people in it. All of this helping her to grow at least a little bit more as a person,by the spinoffs end. She could also have some funny mishaps along the way also,as per the Elizabeth norm. It could be set between the time she left the Velvet Room to before what happened in the Persona Arena games and then what happened after them as well. That could prove at least slightly interesting in my opinion.
I like this opening more than royal because it's more aesthetically consistent, they limit the color palette with just red ,black a little bit of grey too, meanwhile royal color palette is all over the place, i guess they trying to emulate more western comic style for royal opening but i think they kinda failed on that, also the animations in original opening is more fluid and dynamic than royal

This one does better at showing off the first half of the thieves (up till Yusuke) whereas royal does a good job showing everyone with a decent amount of time per character (with Kasumi being the exception due to her role in 3rd semester). Musically both are good so I can’t really pick a better one. Visually both are stunning. This one nails the minimalistic style whilst Royal is better at using the environment to give each character depth. Also how it has more colour as a result of the characters creating the colour (ie breaking the buildings whilst Kasumi’s scene is still very minimalistic)

This song always gives me goosebumps. As someone who was never a JRPG fan and trying persona5 since it got amazing reviews, put in the disc, got the cinematic and I knew this game was going to be good.

I live how p3, 4, and 5 openings all relate to the themes (3: dread/death - "Burn My Dread" 4: Finding Yourself - "Pursuing My True Self" 5: Rebellion/Freedom - "Wake up, Get up, Get out There") It's just so satisfying.

I know this is old but that's why I prefer this opening over the Royal and Strikers versions. This one is way more subtle on the characters instead of just throwing them at your face like Royal and Strikers do.

I just got P5R, my introduction to Atlus as a whole, last month for Christmas, and the more I learn and see the more I adore this studio. Their creativity shines through so much in these cinematics, and the writing and gameplay are phenomenal as well. I'm so excited to play P4G and P3P/R soon 😊
When i first got this game and watched this opening i thought 1:05 futaba was some kind of villain leader and girls behind her were her bitches or something. And MC, Ann, Yusuke, Ryuji and Morgana were the only playable characters... cuse they had more «screen time» on that opener .
Seen this intro a hundred times, and I'm just now realizing the foreshadowing in the opening. For those who dont want to be spoiled, you've been warned. Haru has the same amount of screentime in this opening as she does in the game.
I played P5 over summer, pretty much every day for 200 hours and two playthroughs, and I watched this intro every single time I started the game up, it's amazing

I just got done beating that Mafia boss shit bag. I forgot his name, but I doubt I'm even a quarter way through the game. Any tips I can pick up? Preferibly without spoilers, this game is the only game to genuinely suprise me more than once
Music Master not only that, but the intro doesn’t rely on heavy brooding as everyone in the intro showcases who they are as characters through movements of grace and environmental interaction (as well as the main four Phantom Thieves expressing feelings of joy during the run time of the intro). The black seen on the characters don’t entirely take up their wardrobe (except for joker, but he’s classy af anyway). Plus, the color palette of greys and blacks are nicely broken up and distributed by the red background which is the game’s thematic color.
The black isn't overpowering the other colors, and it makes the bright colors seem even brighter, while having a good synergy with them (black and red color combo is generally thought of as being the best black/other color combo)
This one is more stylized, smooth, and have more frames per second. The way they showed the persona 5 logo is also perfect, which I don't understand why they don't reuse for the new opening. The way they introduce each character is also so... Creative. But then again, the colours of royal opening is pretty. If only the frames are better, and it is done in a more stylised way.

Because at first it reminded me of the garbage fire that is p5 the animation. But after clearing my preconceived notions a bit, it looks good. Not better than the original, but good nonetheless.

God I remember playing this game for the first time during the holidays and this intro blowing me away. I really came to care for the main cast as my real friends and feeling sad and depressed at the end.

And yeah totally, the p3fes animation can't be compared to the original because there is no animation, it's just gameplay cutscenes which sucks, but I guess they wanted to show off the new features, instead of the symbolism and artstyle of the original.

This is in my opinion the best Persona opening of all time. It's also one of the reasons why I fell in love with this game, the style and the groovy music fit so well, it's an absolute masterpiece of an opening.
Honestly I love this opening so much more than colors flying high. I don't think it's a bad song or the animation is bad but, this opening really fits the vibe p5 gives off. The p5R op feels more like an anime opening.
Definitely has to do with this being animated in at least 24fps, while P5R's OP is animated by A1 studios, at a whopping 8-12 fps. Making it look choppy and in all honesty really shit.

Damn, as someone who only played Royal I gotta say that this opening here is much more epic then the new one! I dunno man, it gives the whole group such a nice energy and makes it look like they really are going to change society..I can’t really express the things I feel while seeing this but it‘s awesome, no matter what!

This one does better at showing off the first half of the thieves (up till Yusuke) whereas royal does a good job showing everyone with a decent amount of time per character (with Kasumi being the exception due to her role in 3rd semester). Musically both are good so I can’t really pick a better one. Visually both are stunning. This one nails the minimalistic style whilst Royal is better at using the environment to give each character depth. Also how it has more colour as a result of the characters creating the colour (ie breaking the buildings whilst Kasumi’s scene is still very minimalistic)

I just got P5R, my introduction to Atlus as a whole, last month for Christmas, and the more I learn and see the more I adore this studio. Their creativity shines through so much in these cinematics, and the writing and gameplay are phenomenal as well. I'm so excited to play P4G and P3P/R soon 😊

Because this intro is pure class, and class overpowers edge 9 out of 10 times
Music Master not only that, but the intro doesn’t rely on heavy brooding as everyone in the intro showcases who they are as characters through movements of grace and environmental interaction (as well as the main four Phantom Thieves expressing feelings of joy during the run time of the intro). The black seen on the characters don’t entirely take up their wardrobe (except for joker, but he’s classy af anyway). Plus, the color palette of greys and blacks are nicely broken up and distributed by the red background which is the game’s thematic color.
The black isn't overpowering the other colors, and it makes the bright colors seem even brighter, while having a good synergy with them (black and red color combo is generally thought of as being the best black/other color combo)
Can people stop with the edgy stuff? It gets on my nerves and it somewhat offends me, are you being offensive?

This one is more stylized, smooth, and have more frames per second. The way they showed the persona 5 logo is also perfect, which I don't understand why they don't reuse for the new opening. The way they introduce each character is also so... Creative. But then again, the colours of royal opening is pretty. If only the frames are better, and it is done in a more stylised way.
@@Blake37405 me too, for some reason royal's opening keeps getting recommended to me on RUclips so I kept clicking it, and the more I look at it the less I dislike it. Because at first it reminded me of the garbage fire that is p5 the animation. But after clearing my preconceived notions a bit, it looks good. Not better than the original, but good nonetheless.

And yeah totally, the p3fes animation can't be compared to the original because there is no animation, it's just gameplay cutscenes which sucks, but I guess they wanted to show off the new features, instead of the symbolism and artstyle of the original.

This is in my opinion the best Persona opening of all time.
It's also one of the reasons why I fell in love with this game, the style and the groovy music fit so well, it's an absolute masterpiece of an opening.
Honestly I love this opening so much more than colors flying high. I don't think it's a bad song or the animation is bad but, this opening really fits the vibe p5 gives off. The p5R op feels more like an anime opening.
Definitely has to do with this being animated in at least 24fps, while P5R's OP is animated by A1 studios, at a whopping 8-12 fps. Making it look choppy and in all honesty really shit.

also destroying buildings doesn't make sense for the original persona 5 because the real mission of phantom thieves is to fix the world, not ruin a cognitive world single-handedly created by a school psychiatrist.
in the end, both intros are meant to tell what phantom thieves of hearts will do at the game.
