The beginning really threw me off for a moment, had me second guessing if you were English 😂 I absolutely love this song. I’ve been in Sam’s shoes many times in my younger days with horrible “friends”. Wrecked car and all. It’s so hard to pull yourself out of that lifestyle when you’re surrounded by those bad influences. Loved it! Keep it up brother

Have you seen the short film called Egg made by RENs dad Martin Gill starring Ren as young man - it’s about actions and consequences . It was a PSA warning about taking advice from bad friends and then having to deal with the consequences.
I just watched it recently because it was mentioned in the comments and it's basically the less musical version of this song. I love that he really internalized the importance of the topic and it stayed with him into his adulthood. So cool. Much love Maya :)

The 'What Went Wrong' tracks are possibly the only work I've found from Ren that I don't like. It takes a lot for me to get drawn in with rap in the first place (which Ren usually manages!) but this one's just not for me. I absolutely enjoy the exploration of dark themes/bad decisions resulting in serious consequences, but the 'let's make this one funny' vibe isn't my thing. I don't object to its existence or anything! It's just one I don't pull up to listen to, and one I skip reactions to unless it's a reactor I really like (whereas I'll watch almost anyone's reaction to lots of Ren's stuff). The voices are great (OF COURSE), the storytelling is great (OF COURSE), the beats/hook are great (OF COURSE), it's an extremely heavy-hitting message (OF COURSE), but... I just can't get into the tone of it. Doesn't mean I'm displeased to see this one pop up on your channel - as always, a great breakdown from you! And yeah, as people have probably already mentioned, Schumacher holds the record (now tied with Lewis Hamilton) for most Formula 1 championships ever won. Edit to say: I forgot to mention! There exists a video of younger Ren acting as this character (or someone similar to this character) in a short 'PSA' type of thing his dad wrote/directed/filmed for the British government, or something, about the role peer pressure can play in street violence/hooliganism. Which is how I see this song - not so much a song as a PSA, which might be why I dislike the humourous vibe here?

It's super interesting for him to have done it though. The 'What Went Wrong' tracks are possibly the only work I've found from Ren that I don't like.
