Hell yeah, you got the Kubrick and Animal Farm references! Go further down the Ren rabbit hole! He covers and blends so many genres and they all have the extension-of-empathy that you get from "Hi Ren" and his other narrative pieces. They just come in different flavours and intensities.
Great reactions--additional things to note: from the moment the commandments from Animal Farm, it shows the animals breaking those rules. Additional Kubrickian elements: The Shining (the bike in the hallway), and Eyes Wide Shut (the way the animals interact in a "party atmosphere). And ALL the Clockwork Orange. There are so many references, Ren's head must be spinning. Bringing together all of that in just one song is a whole other level. I just think we are all lucky he uses his powers for good and not evil.
Animal farm is much more than just animal uprising. The whole plot is about how power and greed can corrupt the initial ideal. In the story, the leaders are the pigs, who end end betraying the other animals by eating meat themselves (hence the butcher) and playing cards with humans. One of Ren's consistent messages is how greed and the pursue of fame are destroying humanity (and the planet as well). With all of the swag, he's definitely incarnating the devil here.
In "Violet's Tale," he looks up at the same staircase that is in this video (at least it looks the same to me) when he sings "the devil comes to dance."
I appreciate also what he is able to accomplish in his videos on just a shoestring budget. No big $$$ and staff from an industry studio. It’s Ren finding the location, ordering the masks, making the plans, asking friends to participate, cutting plants to tape to the walls, developing the beats, directing, doing post production work. All of his videos are done within a tight budget but he makes them special and memorable!
He said on his twitch stream that beyond it being a retelling of animal farm, it’s a discussion about the dark parts of human nature. He says at the end “yes I’m tyrannical bro”. Animal Farm doesn’t exactly end happy…just as Stalin’a rule didn’t. It’s sort of a version of “meet the new boss, same as the old boss”.

some additional info - this was a one-take shot. Ren had over 80 people on set in various roles - full credit to the videographer, but also ren for masterminding something so challenging like a one take with all these characters.
I love seeing people discover a 'new' Ren for the first time. He's done everything from rap, pop, ballads, and storytelling, to blues, rock, reggae, and ska. It took 9hrs filming to get it right. I think you'd quite like Crutch and Money Game.
Just so you know Ren produced the track as well as directed the video, which took 9 hours to get the perfect single shot. BTW this was another camera man then he usually has. Losing It by Fisher is Ren having fun with creating lyrics for a sic track! I play it regularly and I'm 49! lol! It takes me back to House, Dance and Hiphop Music growing up in the 80s/90s. Ren is a breath of fresh air. I'm so over autotune. I want to hear the the rawness of 60s and 70s music that is rare in this age. It's the reason I lean towards Indie/Alternative music today.
Great reaction!. I love seeing reactors thoughts and reading the comments, it’s very educational and pushes me to think in different ways which i love. Ren drops easter eggs like stepping stones through this whole catalogue and it really ties so much together as you delve further into his work.

Your reactions are great my man, I really enjoy 'em! Ren is just so fun, versatile like no other and then always puts out unbelievable videos on a quite reasonable budget. He just figured it out
Haha yes, Ren loves Kubrick and said this has influence from a clockwork orange, heavily influenced by animal farm by George Orwell and a little willy wonka thrown in...
Thank you for reacting to anything by Ren. Bisecting or dissecting Ren's brain may be too much of a challenge for normal human beings. Yes, it's Animal Farm, one of my favorite books. Many other references in this video that others have mentioned. I am seeing the connections of his lyrics to other written works of art in literature and in movies. In this story animals take over, also remember in the 'equal opportunity of survival' that people eat animals, animals eat animals, animals eat people. Not much evidence of people eating people, but I am sure it has or is happening somewhere. Again, survival comes to mind. I would love to be inside Ren's brain, that sometimes scares me but mostly excites and thrills me. Being a 74 year old woman, there isn't much left that I can still find to excite me anymore. Everything Ren does is either fun, sad, outrageous, crazy, deep with meaning, or educational. Ren is an enigma, although not a true enigma according to a "dictionary", since he tells us more about himself and his life than a true enigmatic person would, he isn't mysterious he doesn't hide anything. But he surprises most of us with his diversity. His singing, musical talent with many instruments, acting, narrating and performing is just so captivating, it must be an innate talent! I have been to many concerts and live plays and can see that what he does and is capable of doing is amazing with his health issues, the wisdom of the ages, and only 33! I wish he was one of my grandsons. ☺ LOL Ren is brilliant! Never underestimate Ren. He is like a box of chocolate, maybe just not as tasty, due to some of his thoughts floating around in his head. He surprises most of us with the skills he has that can draw you in. And he does DRAW you in, makes you LOOK makes you THINK makes you want to KNOW more. Is Ren a chameleon? A good definition (I googled of course) "The chameleon effect is not a strategic facsimile of a person's gestures and facial expressions. It's more natural. It's a tendency we all may adopt to imitate someone else's voice and physical gestures so as to create a bond of intimacy and friendship. This can be done either consciously or subconsciously". Yes I personally think Ren is a natural chameleon, and he uses that "innate talent" and is very creative with it.
Ren is the Lord of the Rings. The Ringmaster. Of the Circus. (Consider the jewellery he is wearing: Ear-rings. Rings on his fingers. He is the Mandarin.)
Your reviews are amazing and you do pretty good for being shell shocked by the media. Thanks for brightening my day... Keep going with reactions, your top shelf.
Ren is for sure truly #Special If he gets a few young'uns to actually read Orwell (this whole thing, including the list on the wall, is Animal Farm), & a few of those to understand the eugenicist technocratic overlord-wannabe psychopaths who inject all sorts into the culture as social experimentation / manipulation thru think-tanks like Tavistock & certain authors, artists, etc.... then he's doing the Lord's work. #RENaissance ;) p.s. it's never a waste of time to watch the Kubrick movies, preferably paired with the excellent breakdowns Jay Dyer offers. ;)
When you mention 'A Clockwork Orange', I was reminded of the scenes in the house where the rape occurred. It has that '70's pop art feeling with strange angles and surreal imagery.

It's interesting that you mentioned the dissonant notes happening during the long hallway scene. I haven't seen "Eye Wide Shut" for a long time, but someone in another comment section said that the three women/animals groping at him was a nod at that movie.
Wonderful reaction! I love when I hear breakdowns from other musicians. I've always been a music lover but only had elementary music theory lessons so it's so interesting to get an explanation of everything I'm hearing in the track. There's just so much going on in both the sound and the visuals. I found it interesting that when he starts to talk about the blood flowing, it starts as a slow trickle of sound at the top of the stairs but the music feels like it flows thicker and faster as it runs downhill. At the bottom you get almost a whirlpool of disorienting sound. I'm not sure if Ren meant it to have that effect, but it's what I notice in the music. To me, there is also a connection to Illest of our Time. At the end of that song Ren invites us to peek into his mind. In this one it seems like he is giving us a guided tour of what it is like to live inside his head. Lots of pop culture nods, A Clockwork Orange, Animal Farm, Dogs Playing Poker, The Shining, Creature From the Black Lagoon. One more thing. There is a rabbit on the bathroom door...
Yes, Ren likes to challenge himself to do a one shot. Funny you mentioned the shadow character in Hi Ren! I had the thought that it Was thst part of him on the loose Hypocrites beware, Ren is on the prowl. I also saw Animal Farm,Clockwork Orange, The Shining, WilkyWonka. I love the darkness here but yelled at him to keep it on a leash😂
As someone who was an EDM DJ for years I've been trying to pin down the genre. It reminds me of slowed down psy trance and dub (the precursor to dubstep) when you account the accentuations on his lyrics it almost becomes Dutch house.
LOL I wonder what you have against the gorilla? 😆 Every time the gorilla comes on screen, you block it with text lmfao. Just teasing you, luv. Excellent reaction! Truly enjoyed your breakdown! Thanks so much for sharing. 🥰🙏❤
my description I've been using: Willy Wonka takes you on Toad's psychotic Purge tour of Animal Farm and A Clockwork Orange before welcoming you to Jurassic Park
I read somewhere that Rens illness _(or, perhaps, the result the medication)_ meant that pretty much the only thing his body could process was meat. I think this information, if true, may be helpful in interpreting the piece. To me, the walking stick is the illness. There seems to be elements of Willy Wonka, as a somewhat twisted creative genius... along with obvious Animal Farm references and a commentary on social and political violence. But, for me, it seems that Ren is looking at how his life is, quite necessarily, violently sustained... and translating that, and the fact that we are all just animals, into both a personal canabalistic theme as well its reflection in the wider, somewhat parasitic, social order. For me the deeper message is that simply to be, is itself, a violence.

Some reason others haven't pointed this out on your video. 🧐🤔 You missed something kind of big. However it's definitely understandable IMHO. You may not have noticed that you didn't really complete the song Ren song to the end. They're actually quite a FEW more seconds to completely finish the message and the song sung by Ren.
Great reaction! You did better than i did with figuring the imagery out. I just stared at the video the first time 😂
Thank you!! 😁
Friggen Brilliant!!! Based on George Orwells Animal Farm!
BEYOND BRILLIANT!!!!
nailed it!! right from the start! 🔥🔥🔥
I love the version where he sings this on a bus with just his guitar
As someone who was an EDM DJ for years I've been trying to pin down the genre. It reminds me of slowed down psy trance and dub (the precursor to dubstep) when you account the accentuations on his lyrics it almost becomes Dutch house.
LOL I wonder what you have against the gorilla? 😆 Every time the gorilla comes on screen, you block it with text lmfao. Just teasing you, luv. Excellent reaction! Truly enjoyed your breakdown! Thanks so much for sharing. 🥰🙏❤
DAMNED DIRTY APES!!!
Watch the video~INSIDE THE MIND OF REN/KNOX HILL & REN- The full interview. This gives a very good insight into Ren and his journey.
Thanks for the tip!
If the JuJu had meant us not to eat people, he'd have never made us of meat.
my description I've been using: Willy Wonka takes you on Toad's psychotic Purge tour of Animal Farm and A Clockwork Orange before welcoming you to Jurassic Park
😂😂
Don't worry- crying is prymal ;)
Oh… for references, you need to do Illest of our Time. It’s LOADED.
Ren is the pig in this video. He is Napoleon.
🤯
Animal Flow live!!❤
animal flow live on the bus is hard too! im 50/50 on this vs live one both sick! hugs all around
Ren has stated in an interview that he has never spent more than £1,000 on a video but he is going tp spend more on his next video!
Next reaction VOB "SABOTAGE "-Beastie BOYS cover VOB BAND ROCK TRIO HIJABERS from 🇮🇩 VOB LIVE at TAIWAN. PASIWALI FESTIVAL 2022👍 VOB AMAZING super talented ♥️🤟
This wasn’t filmed by Sam. I believe it was another friend, Luke. It took 9 hours and all of the “actors “ were friends and friends of friends. I saw how many takes it took to get the one take, but I can’t find it.
Thanks! Sounds like a long night!
🔥🔥🔥
You should react to any and all of the songs on the Demos Vol. 1 and 2. I love everything on them on both. They looks like cassette tapes and I think they say do not share but that’s just part of the title. I will say the songs on Volume 2 are heavier than Volume 1 but who does heavy better than REN. I think these were done in 2020 during the C word scare. I would really like your take on these tunes ✌🏼&🫶🏼 btw there is a lil surprise for you in Heretic
Try money game pt 1 and pt2
If your interested in a lyrical break down Knox Hill does a good one. This is amusing because it's Knox reacting to Ren reacting to Knox's reaction. Ren adds additional info you may enjoy.

Also Knox is releasing a interview with Ren on Monday
Oh cool! Thanks!

Maybe, Ren got so much in your mind, you accidentally missed the end of the song from the confused excitement of a another new mind bending experience. Let's testament together to official mind-blowing by Ren again.
Next to Dimash, Ren excites my mind the most. 🎉 I'm addicted to first reactions everyday of only two artists. Like yours, I watch multiple songs sung by the master class artists and enjoy their review. 🎉😂😊
Thanks and check out the part of the song you missed so you're complete in your soul.😂
Someone else pointed this out, but as it turns out you are confusing the end of my initial reaction with another part I went back over after my first viewing finished.
@@PrymalChaos gotcha.
Ren and Samual does his videos
I am colorblind. Have you tried the glasses?
Keep it real 💯 👌
Yeah I have 2 pairs. Here is my long term review. ruclips.net/video/d4GEW8Df1p4/видео.htmlsi=HXgwQcjRvoo-bx8B
LMMFAO 😂😂😂
Loved your Reaction but i'm scratching my head why you never ran the video to the end, i Love how the Video ends, so am confused why you didn't let it finish 😳😆
Wait.. I didn't?
@@PrymalChaos Nope 😆 you stopped about 10 seconds early for some reason 🫣 I’m also confused as to why no one else has pointed this out 🤔
@@guitarmuscle6968 I wonder if I recorded it but somehow accidentally deleted in in the edit. 🤔
@@PrymalChaos I don’t think so because you stopped the video then gave your summary and you can see on the red line of your player the video it still has time to run 🤷🏻♂️ it doesn’t really matter you reaction was still great 👍 it just I wondered why it happened and why no one else mentioned it 😆
He actually does play it thru to the end earlier in his reaction ,at around 9:13 or so is the ending , he then just goes back thru the video but not quite to the end the second time ,hope that helps ;o)
