    Hi my German friend 👻
    I watch another blogger that mentioned about the seat height adjustment problem
    And suspects that Ktm may do a recall to resolve it
    One point that I have heard complaints about
    Is that the electronics are not covered by the warranty?
    And that the 1290 R is priced higher than the 1290s
    Even though it having a lot less electronics
    I think I am going to stick with my low mileage 2018 1090r for know
    Stay safe my friend 👍🏻
    And remember 🤔
    Your awesome 🏍🙏🏻

      Thank you David 😉 I really wonder what the deal with the seat is - good to know I am not the only one that had an issue here- just hope they get it fixed for all the owners of the new bikes. Looks like warranty coverage is different from country to country - manufactures have to provide warranty in Germany for a year for their products - they cannot just exclude whatever they feel like should. It be included 😉

    I have had mine for one week now, after 1000 km I see the calculation of the consumption is far to high compared to the actual consumption. The seat need to be secured with strips to avoid slipping to low position. A bad design when you see below the seat.

    The only button I have issues with is the high beam that i keep bumping. I may have to twist the button section downwards to get it out of my index finger area. I havent had any cruise control issues. Been working well. My car I think works well as it uses a radar and camera together.

    As an owner of the 2021SAS 1. Agree on the looks, but it's subjective. 2.Buttons, yea the indicator is a PoS. 3. 100% correct about the C1\2, you can't attach any of the Suspension options (why?). 4.Display options- I'm fine with it, but I see what you mean with reference to the previous model. 5.ACC I love, but you shouldn't rely on it in very busy traffic, I have been in situations where it almost got me. 6. I hate the standard seat and everything todo with it- stupid design.

    • @MotoVibes
      @MotoVibes  3 года назад +1

      I sure hope that KTM will adress some of the issues in the software (should be easy enough to do) but even if the do not - it is still an amazing bike that you can have lots of fun with! I hope you do 😎👍

    Tank design - so a change that imparts two functional improvements - lower CG AND a weather fairing - and your comment is that it does not look as good. You seem to be struggling for material here ?

    • @MotoVibes
      @MotoVibes  2 года назад

      Not sure why you would think that - both comments can certainly stand - the functional improvement come at the price of a "droopier" design - especially on the S model - the R carries it better in my opinion. The 1290 design look better than the 790/890 tank design. Also, KTM / Husqvarna have shown with the Norden 901 that good funcitonality of the tank does not have to come at the expensive of a good look / design.

    Bin die Maschine 2500km in Südtirol gefahren. Mir persönlich gefällt das Tank Design. Aber ich mag auch die 890er. :-)
    Ja das ACC macht manchmal seltsame Dinge, vor allem bei Spurwechseln oder bei sehr engen Kurven. Aber wenn man lange z.B: auf einer Bundesstraße hinterher fährt ist das trotzdem ein Gedicht auf einer 400km+ Tour und funktioniert gut genung meiner Meinung nach. Die normalen Tempomaten sind da komplett nutzlos wenn das Auto vorne ständig +/-10 km/h Geschwindigkeiten fährt. Hab das Feature vor allem auf der An/Abreise sehr genossen.

    Interesting and informative video Oliver! I didn't have any issues with the adaptive CC when I tested the 2021 S late June. Could there be disparity, or something wrong with the bike you tested? I rode in traffic and had no issues. Else, the natural reaction when something goes south should be disconnect, not accelerate. I liked the function but what you've uncovered definitely isn't confidence inspiring!
    Else I agree with most of your points. The predecessor comes across as a better design machine. To such an extent people comment on it (first time for me). Not managed to get tire pressure etc up on my screen on a 2019 SAS main screen? Just tried to enable after having seen your video (was oblivious to this prior) and nothing happened. Does it need to run to show up? Can't see anything on the main screen (standstill. Perhaps this feature only works on 2020 R model?
    Trying the 2021 SAS I didn't feel compelled to change. Everything works flawlessly on my bike. Geometrical changes, such as offset risers. combined with Poweparts Ergo seat fixed two important niggles. Cheers :)

Why I own two bikes ? Well, to me 1290 R is still too heavy as a "true" off road bike. In my opinion, KTM's 1290 is a great bike for hard pavement application. Having come from 11 BMW GSA GS etc im on my first KTM 1290s 2021 3,500 miles in so far I think for me your issues re button sizes and menus are not there because i didn't have the old model. For me you forgot the most annoying thing on this bike! "HEADLIGHTS" You are not allowed to turn on your headlight as and when you want first bike ever i have had like this when using DRL i would like to also have my headlight on and indeed my new spotlights. But KTM does not allow this yes you can turn off DRL in settings but whats the point of that! As you ride you will see the TFT screen change and the DRL go's off the headlight comes on e.g. darker roads, tunnels, trees etc But it happens so easy car drivers think you are flashing them here in the UK its common to flash and let people in and out at junctions etc this KTM style could be mislead to think you are flashing. But other than the seat (still awaiting ergo seat) Im loving it. It will never be as comfy as a GS and a GS tips into corners better, but the KTM comes out faster...Fun and I love the orange and I think its way better looking giving its agility then the older model. Ride safe enjoy

    Not sure you can really consider this a drawback: the MY21 bikes are Euro 5! Yes, I know we should consider this an advantage, but I do not. The sound suffers and I assume there are more issues with diagnostics, sensors etc. to be expected in the long term than on the older Euro 4 bikes.

    I'd like to know what settings you had in place on the Adaptive Cruise Control when you had your moment with the Audi. Was your cruise control speed set much higher speed than the Audi was traveling? Was your follow distance set to minimum? Or was this actually a glitch, where the radar no longer "saw" the vehicle in front of it? What did the dealer say, when you returned the bike? It's a good thing that the rider can easily override the cruise control. And turn off ACC altogether and just use standard cruise control.

    • @MotoVibes
      @MotoVibes  3 года назад +1

      The speed was set to 100 km/h as far as I remember - I was following at the speed of the car in front of me for quite a while when the cruise control suddenly accelerated. there was still enough time to react so there was no real danger. I did not bring this up with the dealer ;-)

    I have the 2018 R and also find the pre-21 design more appealing than the 21 design. Gonna keep my 18 for many years. It's been a totally reliable travel companion so far. Only flaw so far is the righthand Race-On switchgear has failed and will be repaced. The failures are water ingress when washing it ( refuses to start up and requires up to ten pushes at Race-On switch before lighting up ) and electronic failure at startup due to electronic interference in parking houses with many cars. New Race-On switchgear ordered with improved electronic shielding and waterproofing.

    Did you check your front tyre pressure when picking up your 2020? Picked my SAR up last week, the front tyre was set to 39 PSI! Way over inflated on a brand new tyre - 21 inch tyres don't have the largest contact patches to begin with, then over inflate it - this could have easily caused a crash the first time I hit a turn! They clearly didn't do a thorough PDI check. No excuse as the bike has a TPMS! Just wondering if this led to your crash. Cheers.

    Again, you have convinced me to hold on to my 2017 1290 SA-R. I don’t feel like I’m missing out on KTM’s latest iteration of the 1290 SAs.

    Poor old stodgy V-Strom’s give away five year comprehensive warranties; if KTM did that it would go bankrupt.

    • @MotoVibes
      @MotoVibes  3 года назад

      5 years is great. Major stuff tends to break earlier rather than later - so usually the 2 years we have in Germany should cover the worst and then you can extend the warranty for another 2 years - which I did for my BMW and my KTM 1290 SAS. Yeah it costs a few hundred bucks but it was worth the piece of mind for me. With that said - I never needed the warranty on the KTM

      The V-Strom is much slower than the 23 year old bike its engine first appeared in - yeah it's probably reliable - but you'll crash it after falling asleep from the boredom of the gutless engine.

      @@stefanfleischer3478 die R Version hat ja Sturzbügel ab Werk. Irgendwie find ich die R Version auch optisch stimmiger - die Farbwahl und die größeren Räder der R lassen den tiefgezogenen Tank nicht so in der Vordergrund treten.

      It seems you have not been paying a lot attention to this video and the others linked in the description - maybe get a full picture before making unfounded accusations. Also, it would be more interesting to hear about your own experiences and have you add to the conversation. These are in the end just MY experiences that I am sharing. I will always tell you to ride the bike for yourself and make up your own mind. Ride safe -cheers

      It's clearly not better in ALL respects - I hate the 2021 indicator switch - it's terrible and the max 4 custom items on the dash is a huge backward step. The old bike did look better - but I'll happily swap looks for the better balance from the split tanks.
