Hi, I’m Dan
Basically I’m just this crazy guy from Lethbridge, Alberta , that has this crazy expensive hobby. Being retired I had to come up with a way to pay for this insanity without touching my retirement cash.
So what’s the solution? Of course it’s making extra dollars hauling junk, removing scrap, and breaking crap apart separating the metals to get the most bucks possible and keeping these valuable resources out of the landfill.
So I really hope you subscribe and join along as I follow my adventure on checking dumpsters and alley for some free junk, as well as going to auctions and buying some stuff to resell and scrap
We will also be going to car shows and swap meets! Why because I really like doing that and ya I’ll bore you with hot rods and cruises even the occasional drag race
Make sure to subscribe to RUclips so you can come along on my adventures

Great video my friend
Thanks brother get better soon
Scrapyards allow contamination from 3% to 6%. No need to remove that coating from copper. It's too hard to remove it without fire, and it smells terrible. Try to cook it in the kiln, and then just scrape it out by steel wirebrush.
I just brought some in I got #3, I really want to get to at least #2
Copper soup, cola or freezing would be the three things I'd try. I would boil in an urn to see if it would come off, sit some in cheap coke for 24hours and finally freeze a couple of bits and see if it breaks off with a hammer once frozen, this might work if it has got resin in it, but obviously not if it's just paper. Good luck, look forwars to seeing other ideas and results! 👍
Ill definitely try all 3 in the experiment video thanks sollers you rock
Sawzaw is my preferred method for these! Long blade!
Usually I use my horizontal band saw but this one was a 1” to long
I watched ingmans gold recovery he had a great idea for sim cards which I think will work. He simply boiled in water thus released all the gold foils. I think that the effects on the copper should be the same. Awesome episode brother
Ohhhh that is an idea I’ll try it in the experimental video
@@nicejunk666 awesome brother looking forward to it
If you take the case that come off it and set it upside down on some blocks,, you could build a fire under the case and the metal would kind of act like an oven. That paper will pull right off once the shilac is hot enough. I know a lot of places wont buy burnt copper,, but heated copper is different! Plus sandpaper cleans it to #1 really easily ! Nice teardown bud !!
Thanks Adam great advice
Mu yard gives me number 2 for transforer with most the thrash on it
You sir are one lucky guy
Soak in hot water with dawn blue soap.
That dawn is good for everything
VAT OF NITRIC ACID GOES A LONG WAY
And sounds fun also 😊
@@nicejunk666 might even melt the coppa!
@@westcoast8562 cooooollllll
I have and use 12" pedestal with wire brush wheel takes that crap right off also meat off of your finger.
That’s awesome I really hate having skin on my fingers 🤣
Lucky you the one I did last summer was aluminum 😮
That would suck
Lot'sa good copper.👀💪
Copper is king
I suck at math! It’s making you work for that copper buddy! Nice box full of color buddy! That’s a great pay day if you cash it in that way buddy! Definitely made your money back buddy! Another great video my friend!
Thanks buddy
Right on!
Thanks my friend
I'd start by soaking it in hot water to see how well it softens... You could maybe also try sandpaper / wet and dry / whatever is called in your region ... run it on a buffer or some wheel and polish the wires.... if that doesn't work or it's too intensive, you could go up to using some heavy paint removing solutions or some mild acids ...
Thanks my friend
Safety 😆
Safety squint is the best
Yes Sir 😆
Better late than never 😂
True story!
Nice job buddy. You do love to buy those big copper challenges. Nicely scrapped. Maybe try the Sollers method and use cheap cola?
I’ll have to look into that, yup I sure do it’s satisfying tackling big projects
My scrap yard here in Texas pays number two price for it with the paper on
I could only wish
Did you figure out a way to remove the resin and paper ? I am curious because I have some that needs the same treatment. Every penny counts in this dammed economy
Not yet but all the suggestions I get I will be doing a video comparing all the techniques, make sure you subscribe and ring the bell so you don’t miss it
That's the exact same stuff that was in that welder I had. I can tell you that after cleaning it up by smashing it around and pulling paper off, I still got number 3 for it, so whatever you choose will probably be better than that. It also left a ton of flaky resin and paper all over the place. Awesome payday, either way. Gerri was pretty impressed by your trailer load of stuff, but less impressed with the thin strap holding it all together. lol
lol it was only going 8 blocks lucky I even strapped it
@@nicejunk666 Oh, I told her it was only going two blocks.
@@HHRecycling thanks for having my back
Heck yea!
Thanks buddy
#wwwp Ewaste Mike 😂😂😂
Ya darn tootin
You nailed in on your math.
Do you know what char cloth is and how to make it? I wonder if that’ll work.
I don’t but I’ll definitely look it up
@@nicejunk666 definitely do. I think it might just work. Might 😂
@@scrapitall200 my whole life is run by might lol
@@nicejunk666 lot of fun in that way 🤣
@scrapitall200 🤣🤣🤣
I know how to remove it 😂, but you don't want know 😂
🤣🤣🤣
Probably burn it lightly!
Where do you get your large scrap items like this transformer and the 9,000 pound generator?
Both items were picked up from the auction, I paid $50 for the transformer and $210 for the generator
@@nicejunk666 Yep that is where i get my big items too. I brought a 1700 pound A.C. that came off a hospital that didn't work. I was the only bidder and got it for the opening bid of $75. I took out over 300 pounds of copper out of it.
@@steveherr450 excellent deal 😊😎
60-70 pounds of copper!
They usually have 20-30% copper. I’ve seen project shop have one of those huge ones with over 40%!
That’s amazing
Would a heat gun melt the resin
It might I’ll give it a try
Wow, first!
Way to go
