I’m glad you are feeling better. My husband and I just got over ours as well. We never lost our taste and smell , mine was very much like the flu. The pain snd nausea was the worst for me. My husband is still trying to shake off the coughing, it’s due to his past throat cancer and damage from treatments. I store my fragrances in some wooden chest (3) I got at hobby lobby that are small enough to store on my dresser and vanity. That’s how I am able to control how big my collection is. If there isn’t any more room in the chest, I have to go on a no buy until I use up a fragrance, then I’ll get a new fragrance. Plus, it keeps the fragrances out of the light.
I’m glad you are doing better and I hope your husband recovers soon. ❤️. I love your approach, it feels controlled and measured…whereas what I’m doing is an unsustainable free for all! I started decluttering, just a little bit, and it feels so good to know perfumes are going to a good home! 😊
@@gourmindy6449 I know what you mean! My daughter in law, money is tight for them, they are just starting out, about to have their first baby, I’ve always given her my overflow., even the fragrances I got rid of weren’t bad fragrances at all, it’s just the more I learn about fragrances, the more my palate changes, so my taste in fragrances change . I like knowing they are going to someone who will use them. I’m more picky about what I get now, so deciliters don’t happen very often.
Glad you're getting over Covid! Hope you continue to feel better! My family hasn't had it yet (not to my knowledge, anyway), thankfully. I always envy the beautiful glass displays and lovely trays that others have for their perfumes. But then I realize that my dresser in my closet provides the perfect low-light conditions for storing perfume, and I am happy again! Ha ha! 😂 I actually like that you have room to keep your fragrances in your bathroom - that's really nice for getting ready in the morning! 👍
I’m so grateful we didn’t get one of the other variants! But still, never fun to be sick! That’s something I wouldn’t mind having - some sort of display in our closet! Right now we have a fairly small walk-in, so I don’t think I could make it happen. But that’s probably ideal given the protection from light!! 😊
I lost my sense of smell completly due to covid also. I heard that smelling essential oils few time a day with closed eyes helps to get it back. I did that with smelling lemon, orange and cinnamon, lemon , eukaliptus and mint essential oils. I also smelled coffe, cloves and parfums. My sense od smell started coming back at third day and completly came back on day 7th. Try it and good luck 🤞
Oooooh, thank you so much for taking the time to recommend that! Someone else mentioned scent training, too! Really appreciate it and I’ll give it a shot. 🙏
I'm so sorry to hear you had Covid, but glad it wasn't too bad. Losing your sense of smell is upsetting I'm sure! I saw a news report yesterday about "smell training" to get your sense of smell back. I wonder if it works?
I think I saw something on that, too, when I was looking up how long it lasts! I’ll look into it because I have plenty of things to practice on, if need be! Thank you 🙏 😊
Our family caught covid in January and I lost my sense of smell for just under two weeks. I just recently got it back and I'm so happy to be able to smell my fragrances again. I hope you get your sense of smell back soon! Take care!
@@gourmindy6449 we are! Our middle daughter has a heart condition and she was in the hospital for something unrelated, but they tested her and she tested positive. She was asymptomatic, but the rest of us all wound up sick, but fortunately not too bad. We are just so grateful that she didn't have any complications.
Hi Mindy, glad to know you are feeling better. I really liked this video because I am always curious to know how other people with large collection store their perfumes. I am always looking for that next best option for organizing. About perfume cataloging, I use Fragrantica's shelves and notes so extensively that I think it has now become a problem. lol. But nice to know I am not alone here. Hope you get your sense of smell back soon.
I do the same with Fragrantica - to the point it consumes me. 🤣🤣. One of my favorite pastimes in Fragrantica is finding people who have similar tastes to me, then trying to figure out what’s missing in my collection! It’s such an amazing platform! 😊😊
I organize and keep track of my fragrances on Fragrantica. I have to keep them all in my closet because I have toddlers. But it also is what’s best for them to be out of the light.
Thanks Mindy! Perfume storage is always such a conundrum. I have mine on top of a bookcase in a bookcase, on my dresser… I really need to get organized! Glad you’re feeling better! I’m rooting for us to get our sense of smell back very soon! 😊I just sprayed on Amber Oud Rouge and I would say I’m at about 50%… however I do have a smell memory for that one! I’m interested in this ‘smell training’ that the comments refer to! I’m definitely going to investigate!
Yes, yes! Anything to expedite recovery, I’m here for! I saw it could take over 20 days to months, but I definitely didn’t even entertain that as an option. 😳. Hoping it’s back soon for both of us! I splurged and had a decadent Caramel Frappe from McDonald’s yesterday, it’s one of my favorite treats and I couldn’t hardly taste it! I need that in a perfume!! 😍
I keep my bottles in the enclosed cabinet in my bathroom as well. But i have read in many articles that the bathroom is one of the worst places to store perfume. How has yours held up and how old are your okdest perfumes?
I have a spreadsheet where I’ve categorized my perfumes by full bottle, travel sprays, decants, or oil replicas, and I am trying to rate them all 1-10 so I can more easily recognize which ones I shouldn’t be holding onto!
Great minds. 🤣🤣. I’m more obsessed with the spreadsheet organization than physically organizing my bottles! I also rate them and plug in the Fragrantica rating to compare! 😍🤗. I agree in that it helps you let go when the ratings are low!
