We started some some TGTB this past school year but this upcoming year we'll be using all TGTB because we have fallen in love with it. My oldest will be doing 6th grade along with your youngest and then I'll have one in 5th grade and my youngest in kindergarten. We do our school year from July - early March in order to be able to enjoy spring and early summer on break. The heat and humidity are pretty brutal here during July/August/Sept so we might as well be doing school since inside is the place to be during those months. Ha! Does their new Health and the Human Mind have anything about suicide? I need to explain to my daughter what it is and why is should not be done and am looking for good information to cover this.
We are doing Health and the Human Body, Health and the Human Mind, Chemistry, and Botony next year. I have ages 4,6,10, and 13 grades PreK. K, 5th and 7th. My 5th grader is switching to TGTB Math next year. And my Kindergartener is continuing on with TGTB Math and doing Level 1.

I'm about to start homeschooling for the 1st time. One of the questions I have since you mentioned graduating requirement, is how do you know what specific subjects and courses are needed for graduating? For example in my state I know that US history and state history are required, however how do you when to add those subjects? When do the kids get to pick what they want to study in social studies. Same for science? I am sorry if its a silly question, I am just so confused.

No I am not. My kids begin individual science courses for highschool. These are grades 3-8 and while there’s wonderful info and it never hurts for older kids to listen these units are not comprehensive enough for a highschool student.
I know you probably don't need video ideas, but I think it would be neat to see your curriculum picks for lower grade levels since you already completed them, and things have changed over the years.
In case you would like someone else’s input, TGTB has the Book Studies for 8th graders. They can also skip the book studies and go from Level 7 to high school units. The FAQs says the Level 7 is comparable to 9th grade. TGTB LA is advanced.
