I started as a middle finger player but went to primary index. I now switch between both during playing to get different tones during the songs for different accents. Makes it alot of fun too!

i have started working on switching between the 2 as well. you are right you can get alot of cool sounds by switching out.

I tried the index but always found my middle finger to be more accurate, stronger, and easier to play with. I guess it’s to each his own, but everyone should try both to see what feels right for them. Great video!

Great video! I wonder then since my ring finger is longest curled up should a fella go with the longest finger?

Great question.. I’m not sure. I haven’t heard of anyone using the ring finger, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t possible.

How long and difficult was the transition to middle finger. I too am a beginner and index striker

Took about a week to get used to it.. about 2 weeks to get efficient with it

I’ve had people tell me they can play soft with the index finger it’s just never work for me. It takes about a week to get used to the middle finger in about 2 1/2 weeks to get efficient with it.

How do you handle strumming? Do you use your striking fingers or the remaining fingers on your hand?
