I used to ride a YZ490, back in my day. 17 tooth on the front, 34 tooth rear. Mostly fast track, but a lot of bush, and steep hills. I'm now 61 and ride a WR450F. I wish I was young again and still had my YZ490. The most fun you can have with your pants on. I loved the video, such a great job. The bike looks amazing. Well done.
@@dirtniron I'd trade my new 450F for an 87 YZ490 any day of the week. They we monsters. The low down torque was so incredible. Yeah, they don't make em like that anymore, sadly. Cheers, Mate.
A 34 tooth rear sprocket?!?! Your 1st and 2nd gear must’ve been non existent .. I run a 14/48 on my 2012 XCF 250, and even that, my first gear gets me up to like 15 kmh in about 3-4 seconds .. most of the time, I don’t even use 1st and 2nd.. I just jump to third and be on my way lol
@@cameronsienkiewicz6364 Try dropping a few teeth on the rear, maybe try a 40 tooth, it'll make your bike much more rideable. Also, try a bigger jet in your carby. But not too much bigger. The best thing to do is buy about 5 jets, going up in size, and try them, until it starts spluttering, and flooding, then go back one size smaller. Bigger sprocket on the front, and smaller on the back give top end speed. So, my 1st gear was like a second gear with standard sprockets. It gave me a top end of about 110 MPH. It also gives you "longer gears", (more time in each gear). My bike was ported and polished, with larger jets. It was a beast, but just amazing to ride.
I’m doing the same thing on my YZ250, it’s a 2006, it’s already been rebuilt once and has had multiple owners, I’ve had it for about a year and it is extremely crusty,I finally got enough money to do a basic rebuild, not as good as this but enough to make it like new, been at it for a few days now and I must say it is extremely therapeutic and as my first build, very satisfying and building self confidence in my mechanical skills

Amazing amount of work for one video...lol! I love watching your rebuilds...you do awesome work! You should look for a vintage 2 stroke big bore for future build...that would be awesome!!!
Gorgeous bike Rado ! About the only thing I "might" change, would be to cerakote the rear sub-frame, and coat the kick start lever the same colour as the Hinson clutch cover. Great stuff, that's a bike that you can enjoy for years and years !
Coating a high abrasion/wear area or part is a waste of time because it will still wear off and actually ends up looking worse it;s better to leave those areas in their natural finish.
thanks Graham, glad you like it! Just as Rob said, the parts with high wear are best left stock aluminium, cerakote wont last long and will look terrible very soon
An incredible job and a brilliant end result! Love the bike and all the extremely hard work you've all put in to get the bike looking and riding like that! It's a credit to you all! 🏍🏍🏍🏍
Not really a yamaha guy, but I do like them. This one looks great! A very nice build. That Jay Clark guy looks like he has never put on graphics before! ;-) He did that rather fast. Also, you need a shirt that says "Much blast" on it somewhere. That is a great description and needs more traction.
Wow that’s so cool. I really wish I can have a bike like that. And I wish I knew how to fix up bikes. It would be fun and save you a lot of money because dirt bikes are so expensive. I’m riding on a Chinese pit bike but having a real bike would be so cool. Great video man. Keep up the good work 👍
Great build Dirt n Iron! Nice mix of parts. I really like the colour combo and D and I graphics. The only thing that made my ocd kick in was not straightening out the fins in the radiators. Top effort mate and I hope you get many miles of enjoyment out of that weapon, Cheers 🍻👍👍
Awesome build bud. I’m doing a very similar build with my 05’. So far we have the ESR 325 kit with his pipe and reeds, SC2 (of course) and did the same wide ratio gear set as you. @@dirtniron yeah were paying insane amounts over here its crazy

Love the way it sounds in the technical part you're riding, great job. Keep it up.
Glad you enjoy it! thanks Jose!
I feel like a plastic skid plate is a lot like a mesh condom.
That's not a plastic skid plate. 😂😂😊
@@ericmacnichol3791 Well its certainly not metal, unless your man there is the hulk given how easily he's bending it.
@@cannabiscraftsman1278 Since it seems like more than one person wants to act a complete fool in the replies, heres the link to the plate he used. **From the manufacturer "Made of 8mm HDPE plastic" **

Superior to metal because it slides over the rocks where a metal one just grinds. They are incredibly strong and don't deform when taking a big hit.
@@DerangedOffRoad Bro, the guy in the video bent it with his hand. If you're trying to say this guy can generate more force with his one hand than a dirtbike hitting a rock at full steam, just piss off lol.
Hi guys Kelly here from New Zealand
Love the build guys the bike looks fantastic looking forward to the next one
Thanks Kelly, appreciate it 👍
Meu sonho 😪💔
That bike turned out sexy as hell !! 52 minutes well spent. Looking forward to more builds !! Thanks dirt and iron !!
thanks Micah, glad you like it! working on ktm 300 next
That was terrific..thanks for taking the time. I liked the music at 38:00 best.
thanks Jack, appreciate it!
That yz is beautiful. I was just telling my buddy yesterday when we rode the trails in the coastal range of Oregon. That I needed that kind of setup 👊 low end grab
Right on! Porting and head mods help a lot. Tom Morgan Racing
Really like the build you made the side stickers look easy they never are. That is a bike I would want I currently ride race yz250f but see a lot of the 250 2 strokes these days
thanks Randy, glad you like it!
Just watched this and wow love what y’all did with this! Perfect parts! I have a 2001 cr250 and a 2003 kx250 and have built them from used and can appreciate this! Great asmr too! Keep up they great work!
Awesome! Thank you Scott!
Am I the only one amazed at how effortlessly he put the graphics on?
Great build bike looks great sounds like it performs even better can’t wait till I get my YZ 250 up rebuilding motor now
yz250 is a great platform!
The rebuided engine looks cool.. dream for my '92 YZ125 🤩
thanks, glad you like it
@@dirtniron how not? Looks better than original ✌
If you find '92 YZ125 to rebuild can be very cool.
I would like to do like you but i live in Thailand and i have not your skills... 😁👍
@@dirtniron anyway i got ideas watching your videos, ill order the large fuel tank 32,6 g. to your suplier
Awesome build. Great music 👍 keep up the great work. You have inspired me to start searching for a project bike. I blame you 😉😂 just wait til I tell my wife I'm looking for another bike ☹️😂
hahaha, surprise her ;)
I saw how it was all done..your cruelty ... very good, unique, very interesting..hopefully many have done it brother..good luck..,☺️😊❤️❤️💯💯
You guys sure deserve a like... and a %100 great job. Also great camera work guys! Thank you for this watch.
thanks a lot!
super nice build watched it all would love that bike
Thanks man, appreciate it!
What a great build, man that thing is truly SICK, and the music is spot on, right down to classical at the end. I would love to have a exact play list to rock out on my next ride. You do the best bike builds Rado, 5 thumbs up👍👍👍👍👍
thanks a lot Mike, great feedback brother! I am glad you like the music too, main artist is Trent Thompson ruclips.net/channel/UCjyM_NGuA5yYgjHzGfmFM0w this is the classical track ruclips.net/video/GoSmruOJl3g/видео.html
This Yamaha yz 250 looks nice
I think you have a great deal of knowledge to be able to complete this bike
thanks, its not that complicated tho
Beautiful bike, you do awesome work I would be afraid to ride it,I wouldn't want to scratch it up
thanks Bobby, my first ride was quite challenging :) check it out ruclips.net/video/2B_XUeWYc-A/видео.html
I love watching your videos my friend because I imagine that I have one of those dream build in my dreams..it's so expensive here in Philippines Motorcycle like that, hoping someday I have one...Awesome build my friend!💪💪😁😁👍👍👍👍
Damn, i just watched the whole video. Well made content. Enjoyed it all
Thanks Jacob, glad you like it!
THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!! At 56yo I only wish I had the skill to accomplish this type of rebuild. I just purchased a 2009 that needs this type of attention! Is there anyone that I could take it to and get this same level of awesomeness closest to N Louisiana? Thanks for THE SHOW!!
thank you John, glad you like it! I bet you would be able to do decent job with yours ;)
Amazing amount of work for one video...lol! I love watching your rebuilds...you do awesome work! You should look for a vintage 2 stroke big bore for future build...that would be awesome!!!
thanks brother, glad you like it! yea, 500cc definitely on the list, lets see
Thank you, I would love that.
thanks a lot Keith, glad you like the build!
I would kill to have that bike it came out amazing wish I had money to buy one like that
thanks Gaven, glad you like it!
This bike looked really clean from the get go
Arend Liefers
Nice job really like the color of the motor love to see how you do it.
👍
This is absolute perfection.
I hope that i would have Time to project My bike like this. I live how this bike looks. Great job
Go for it!
Not really a yamaha guy, but I do like them. This one looks great! A very nice build. That Jay Clark guy looks like he has never put on graphics before! ;-) He did that rather fast. Also, you need a shirt that says "Much blast" on it somewhere. That is a great description and needs more traction.
haha, thats a great idea I will see what we can do about "somuchblast" glad you like the build Danny!
I just heard the music in the background and thought yesss another Christian biker 🙌🏾
yep, amen brother :) God is good!
@@dirtniron indeed he is brother 🙏🏾
Wow that’s so cool. I really wish I can have a bike like that. And I wish I knew how to fix up bikes. It would be fun and save you a lot of money because dirt bikes are so expensive. I’m riding on a Chinese pit bike but having a real bike would be so cool. Great video man. Keep up the good work 👍
thanks man!
Great build Dirt n Iron!
Nice mix of parts. I really like the colour combo and D and I graphics.
The only thing that made my ocd kick in was not straightening out the fins in the radiators.
Top effort mate and I hope you get many miles of enjoyment out of that weapon,
Cheers 🍻👍👍
GORGEOUS, I am truly mesmerized.
thanks, glad you like it!
Love the build amazing I want to do that one day after the Army.
go for it man!
Love that burnt bronze cerakote
Beautiful bike, and you are so talented! It was a stunning project! You should be so proud!!!
Thanks a lot Lenny, glad you like it!
Awesome build bud. I’m doing a very similar build with my 05’. So far we have the ESR 325 kit with his pipe and reeds, SC2 (of course) and did the same wide ratio gear set as you. I’m undecided on plastic/graphics. Gonna do the 18+ restyle with a desert tank (will be an open desert/dune bike) I’m kinda digging the black/blue!!!
Man I wish I had a garage to work in , I live your videos I learn something from everyone of your videos I wanna buy me a bike like that and rebuild I don't know all the things one needs to know to do full job but I WILL learn 😅
Wooooow!! Amazing! I’m trying to do the same with my WR 450F 2007, but not looks like yours ;-) Great job and very interesting videos. Congratulations and thank you very much for sharing with us! Regards from Barcelona, Catalonia.
thank you Xavi, glad you like the build and the video! 2007 wr450 is very solid bike, I love WRs, they come uncorked in Europe, I bet its a beast. Have fun with your build brother!
