So I drove both the A250 and A200. Sorry that I decided to record the A250 video in cantonese because I was speaking cantonese to the sales person initially. The A250 is very rapid and has a strong engine, the A200 too has respectable performance and punch. Both transmissions are still poorly calibrated, but comfort levels have improved over the previous ones albeit the A200's torsion beam suspension is a poor execution too as there are better torsion beam cars out there with better comfort and suspension composure.

quite true. Malaysians cream for the brand no matter how kosong it is. Some of them just go in showroom and place booking without thinking cause they always say its mercedes mah! confirm got features one!
Peter Ambrose not exactly. Merc buyers tend to be more matured than say bmw or Audi. This group prioritise comfort and brand value over everything else. Hence merc is still the most competitive in Malaysia. Lexus LS dun even hold a candle next to the s class, seat base so short, headroom so little etc although everything feels plush.
S class is nice but MBM is so greedy that they cant even spec in nappa leather and heads up display for 700k. Only fake leather

You dont get the AMG-line and the multilink on the A 200 in Malaysia? Thats a shame... but it looks like you get the widescreen as standard. 😀👍
I think the back end needed to be a tiny bit sportier as the A class still suffers from a plain look. Even the AMG lines don’t look sporty enough

Hi bobby, any comment for rear seat angle and also air cond reachability as its without rear air vent again... sad that merc always remove it while we are at such hot climates.
For small cars i've never felt rear AC vents are important. So dont worry. Everything is ok about this car except overall non key touch points have undergone the finance department's knife, and in terms of handling and ride comfort, it should be the poorest to come out of Germany. None of its rivals are so poor in ride and handling tuning and transmission calibration.
@Bobby Ang I know this is a far fetched comparison, but how does the ride and handling compares to the picanto that you drove few weeks ago?
seriously this car let me think of Myvi really, and the design view from sideline is like a Myvi/Axia compact car.
Just a quick check bobby, would you take this or the current bmw 118i? From an overall view.
Definitely BMW 118i. Way better comfort, suspension, handling.

WAYYYYYY BETTER TUNED. The A200 drives like a cheap car the Iriz drives like a proper european hatch

How does the Torsion Beam works? 🤔 IMO the overall exterior review not so wow like the prev Gen... But the interior got the improvement except for the digital ipad-ish meter panel
Quite a few cost cutting bits. Most notable are the rear doors, the whole thing feels like a Japanese car from 2008. Torsion beam is a low cost option that by right frees up space for undercarriage, but in this case just for product lineup optimisation. It rides poorly. Handles poorer than the A250 that has independent suspension

A250 money is RM269k right? That price you can wait for the new Volvo S60 T8. C200 looks good, 330e was a great car ruined by all the dealership price wars ruining its uses car value

Oh dear I understand your situation. You wanted to give it a negative review so badly but you couldn't. You were so polite haha.
The engine is great, the dashboard design is great. It's more spacious than previous A Class, it is more stylish than all its other competitors. The drive isnt good, the transmission isnt good. The build quality in some areas are bad. But all those bad stuffs are stuffs that non car enthusiasts dont care.

Tested drive the A250. Terrible feeling. MBUX not functioning as the one they are having in Europe market. Cheap finishing like protons. Safe some money and get a Volvo instead, yes the ALL NEW XC VOLVO 2018/19.

Definitely. But the R-Line itself is pricey when you consider the BMW118i is only about RM15k away for better in everything except power, and that price also gets you the powerhouse V40 T5 which has poorer handling dynamics but greater comfort, solidity of interior, high speed cruising and safety etc.

Even A250. But they're stylish, happening, clubbing, disco, happy, fashion. That's how good Merc is in marketing

Price difference is almost rm90k between A250 and V40 T5. And T5 is 250hp, equivalent to C300 horsepower. T5 handling not that good but high speed cruising is very comfy. Aound proofing better and materials dar better. A class interior looks 10 years ahead of everybody else
The A200 is a lot better drive than the 1 series bmw i had one till a week ago i got ris of it because it handles like a shopping trolly due to run flat yyres moability wouldnt change then or let me change them so i wasnt keeping the bmw for 3 years i didnt trust it

I don’t feel any attractive from exterior out look. Looks like new facelift from previous A class or Volvo V40. Not joke Mercedes using Nissan engine. Lol, very cut cost of Mercedes A class.
Kenken Pandan they don’t use a Nissan engine...
The 1.3 turbo is a Nissan engine. Of course Mercedes did their own tuning and redesign. Very strong little engine. Has character and responses rather fast too. I like both engines. In fact i love all Mercedes engines. Just that it's always marred by poor transmission for their non-AMG models
