All their respective picks make a lot of sense. The intellectually jazz stuff, the hip hop head and the poppier sensibility. Their picks reflect their music perfectly.
So stoked to see the Andy Shauf record in this! One of my favorite albums and still heavily underrated. The song “To You” will always have a special place in my heart
We started adding them to the descriptions maybe a year ago... So we'll keep adding them to future episodes (and even updating old episodes as well). Glad they are helpful.
You can thank the selection at Amoeba more than these guys I mean we all can look like music geniuses uber-hipsters when we can choose from that dream stockpile, but yeah they chose some wonderful stuff.
Shaun Pearson why the pessimism? What you said might make sense if they were just "yeah I like this one and this one" etc. But they elaborate on their choices they clearly are fans of the music.
could you guys put the artist name and title of song when you cut to the clips of the music? sometimes its difficult to hear what the artists are saying
Needledrop Stan true they've worked heavily with big names like Tyler the Creator and Ghostface as well as worked with Kendrick, Earl, Danny Brown, etc
Makes me happy to see these kids have great choices in different styles & decades of music instead of being the average kid who just listens to rap. Great musicians too much respect
Cool Kashif shoutout, I actually found out about him last year when a producer/DJ friend shared a song of his on Facebook (on the day of his death, unfortunately). I fell in love with his self-titled debut that I, coincidentally, found on vinyl last week for $5 at a local record store.
You probably found the Donnie and Joe Emerson song 'Baby' in the movie 'The spectacular now'. That version was Ariel Pink's one, but probably you did the same as I and stumbled upon the original version. This one. Beautiful song.
Matt is taking a break from touring/travel - twitter.com/badbadnotgood/status/801189318215643136 I did see him on the subway here in Toronto one time though!
Yeah he's just taking a break from touring. I've seen him on their instagram stories in the studio together recently. You can go on Alex's instagram (seedsofyaris) and there's a video of them working on a new song with kaytranada
He picked Spirit of Eden. But the same applies to Laughing Stock. And Colour of Spring for that matter. All brilliant albums, so underrated, even in the UK for some reason.
BAGBAGWHAT'SIN
The people don't deserve it but they sure need it
This deserves to be pinned
What the heck...
All their respective picks make a lot of sense. The intellectually jazz stuff, the hip hop head and the poppier sensibility. Their picks reflect their music perfectly.
I love it
you know it can be commercialised
Its really cool because BADBADNOTGOOD and Arthur Verocai are going to make a concert together here on Brazil now!

After seeing they have excellent taste, I'll have to check their band out & see how their influences mesh together. Great episode.
Thanks for putting the featured song list in the "more info" section on this video. IDK if you've done this in the past but Thank you anyway!
We started adding them to the descriptions maybe a year ago... So we'll keep adding them to future episodes (and even updating old episodes as well). Glad they are helpful.
I smoked out with Bill Summers after a Headhunters gig in Santa Barbara. I think that is what the match is for.

Alexander talking and showing the brazilian art, Arthur Verocai is genius and alex is another. Greetings from Brazil!!!
Sempre muito bom ver a influência da nossa música, mais ainda numa banda como BBNG.
They know their shit
You can thank the selection at Amoeba more than these guys I mean we all can look like music geniuses uber-hipsters when we can choose from that dream stockpile, but yeah they chose some wonderful stuff.
I mean, they studied jazz performance at school. it's not just the selection.
Shaun Pearson why the pessimism? What you said might make sense if they were just "yeah I like this one and this one" etc. But they elaborate on their choices they clearly are fans of the music.
I just want to take a moment to appreciate Charlotte. She's really great. If you have not listened to her EP already it's worth a listen.

could you guys put the artist name and title of song when you cut to the clips of the music? sometimes its difficult to hear what the artists are saying
All the artists are in the description
good looks
They're super underrated.
They're pretty much the only jazz groiup known by avid hiphop listeners. I think that's fairly rated.
Needledrop Stan true they've worked heavily with big names like Tyler the Creator and Ghostface as well as worked with Kendrick, Earl, Danny Brown, etc
Oliver Flynn fuck yes Yussef Kamaal were fucking amazing! Such a shame they broke up.. They were one of a kind
Needledrop Stan What you and Mr. Super Fly said is true.
Oliver Flynn Will do, my man. Thanks!
Guys PLEASE get Steve Albini or even better, the whole of Shellac to do one of these !
Mohammad El Jachi Yes! 🙏 please!
PLEAAAAASE!!
We'd love to have him/them in for an episode. We'll look into it.
Amoeba yay!
Mohammad El Jachi or anyone with even one ounce of masculinity rather than more pablum wussies
Good looking out on the Arthur Verocai, ad it to a growing list of discoveries from whats in my bag and youtube sidebar journeys.
Arthur Russell is one of my all-time favorites. Respect to Charlotte Day Wilson for getting his album.

Cool Kashif shoutout, I actually found out about him last year when a producer/DJ friend shared a song of his on Facebook (on the day of his death, unfortunately). I fell in love with his self-titled debut that I, coincidentally, found on vinyl last week for $5 at a local record store.

DOOM IS THE GOAT
i left the video to listen to aurthur verocai and it’s been 6 months and I’m here to finish the video
You probably found the Donnie and Joe Emerson song 'Baby' in the movie 'The spectacular now'. That version was Ariel Pink's one, but probably you did the same as I and stumbled upon the original version. This one.
Beautiful song.

Out of all the “what’s in my bag” episodes, musically I relate to this one the most
Amoeba employee: "Thanks so much guys!"
Chester: "...sweet."
Class acts. Classy choices.
Man I wish Matt was on this, would've loved to see his picks. Does anyone know if he's still on break?
Sooo does anyone know what happened to matt? Is he just not in the band anymore?
Matt is taking a break from touring/travel - twitter.com/badbadnotgood/status/801189318215643136
I did see him on the subway here in Toronto one time though!
Any idea when he'd be back on tour? Because i'm gonna see them in the end of June.
Yeah he's just taking a break from touring. I've seen him on their instagram stories in the studio together recently. You can go on Alex's instagram (seedsofyaris) and there's a video of them working on a new song with kaytranada
i've literally never clicked a vid faster
Big ups for choosing Talk Talk!! Laughing Stock is an amazing album!
He picked Spirit of Eden. But the same applies to Laughing Stock. And Colour of Spring for that matter. All brilliant albums, so underrated, even in the UK for some reason.
