    1. Sigurd didn't know about the Loptous thing, so judging him for that is even more unfair than judging Eirika for giving the stone to Lyon.
    2. It is implied that even if Deirdre never left the Spirit Forest, Manfroy would still have tracked her down, leading to pretty much the same situation, but even worse, since there would be no Seliph to lead the Liberation Army against Julius.

My two favorite lords are Dimitri and Edelgard, a curious combination to be sure.
I find both of them inspirational. You did a good job with Dimitri, but I'd argue Edelgard is just as inspiring. She has debatably the most horrible backstory out of any Fire Emblem character, and yet sets out to fight a war against the entire world to make sure nobody ever goes through what she went through. Whether she's right in her goals or actions isn't really what I'm arguing, I just think the idea of a character that has had absolutely everything taken from her and still pushes this hard for the sake of others, in a way that is unlikely to be appreciated by the world, makes her seem like one of the mentally strongest characters I have ever seen.

In Hopes, we see Claude’s schemes and plans. We see his cunning when sacrificing Randolf or betraying Edelgard in Scarlet Blaze bring his true character to screen.

Regarding Sigurd finding Deirdre and marrying her, there's a small, a very small conversation between Manfroy and a Loptyr Bishop after you capture the second to the last castle of chapter 1, where the two Bishops are asking if they have found the "girl" (Deirdre) yet. Meaning, if Sigurd didn't find Deirdre first, then the Loptyr Bishops will find her first and the world ends regardless, so like either way if Sigurd found Deirdre or not, he will still die a painful death due to Deirdre being found earlier by the enemy before Seliph was born

I think claudes "power of friendship" line actually makes a lot of sense for his character. His overall theme is "unity is stronger than division" be it trying to bridge the gap between almyra and fodland, or keeping the Leicester alliance together during the war. As tropey and "anime protag" as it was, that line summarizes his role in the world.

I recommend having him use multiple weapons and keeping a killer bow, his swords and parthia in convoy, that way he can become a Swiss army knife.

Regarding Sigurd, the only instance where there's a development to his character is when he asks for the village elder after conquering a castle post-Agustria. Making it so he'd learn his lesson not to leave a power vacuum like earlier, which was one of his greatest blunders.
Relating to Deirdre, he was actually warned not by an elder to not pursue her. However, both Deirdre and Sigurd ignored such a warning and would both pursue their liking to each other.

I think Lyn is still rated a bit low. If one element of the character themselves can hard carry them like gameplay or personality, like Sigurd's gameplay or Celica's character, I think Lyn could've gone up a place or two. Yes, she isn't treated with much importance past her story, but I think her story is actually decent for the time we spend with it. It's pretty much the first time we see a "lord" deal with classism and the ire of a jealous uncle. I'm curious how it would play out if Lyn's Story wasn't made later in development for the west since she couldn't do something to deeply impact the main game, but I think she's at the very least a more compelling watch than Eliwood.
I favor her all the time because I love the woman who doesn't take shit from men because of who or what she is, but even without my bias, I think she has enough character in her to be bumped up a little.
You know what REALLY sucks about her character arc? Read her support with Wallace and get frustrated that we don't get that on the main plot. She very clearly hasn't moved past wanting revenge for the death of her parents, and it's kinda heartbreaking watching her tell this man "how dare you kill them for me!" Imagine if they rewrote the story to make The Black Fang to be the ones who killed her parents for stumbling into something they shouldn't have or whatever, and wiped out her tribe because Nergal couldn't have any witnesses. Now she's an integral part of the plot when the name Black Fang comes up. Then her being told by others she's not strong enough would MEAN something too because she wants to be the one to personally kill the Black Fang and just...man. XD
Sorry, not trying to fanfic her into a higher place but there's facets of her character that I find fascinating and hate aren't more prominent enough to say she deserves to be at the top of bad at least. XP

The thing that makes Edelgarde so interesting as a character I think is that she's one of the only 2 villains in the story(in the literature/storytelling sense). Whether or not she's evil is up to you(personally I think she's definitely makes a lot of morally wrong choices, but she has really clear and honest intentions as a character). The main marker of a villain in storytelling is if we see them alone, especially w/o the protagonist which she at times isn't. The only other actual villain from a writing perspective is Rhea and they make really good foils. That being said I think Claude is the better Lord, his story covers the most of 3h's overall plot and he's based af.

On the topic of Micaiah not being as bad as people like to say as a unit, it really is something to be studied how FE fans view her.
-Why are we pretending that a low speed growth matters in a game where you can rig max stats for any unit and especially one like her that will max multiple stats(Mag/Res/Luck) incredibly fast and be primed for BEXP?
-Why would low speed matter for her anyways when Thani will legitimately oneshot every single cavalier or armor unit in every DB chapter on Normal mode, and still do incredible damage for Hard?
-How is she ending up in situations where she gets jumped by enemies when almost every DB chapter is very choke heavy?
-Sacrifice is also a cheap easy way to funnel her exp throughout the game without needing to see combat or dedicate staff uses, especially during Part 1 where your only other healing option is Laura or Vulneraries(granted, Vulneraries are at their best in RD)
Maybe it's just because she shares a game with RD Ike and Flying Amiti, or because for western FE fans, we only received 3 of the easiest games in the series prior to RD being one of the harder ones, but she is just nowhere near as bad as people say

I agree 100% on this. I always see : “Micaiah bad unit, can’t survive anything and gets doubles by everything.”
My first though is always… wait… why are we letting the healer tank shots?
It’s just strange, I think her position as a lord is what frustrates people because she’s relegated more to a backup role in combat, when the traditional lord is more frontline heavy. But make no mistake, she’s a great unit IMO.

The problem is honestly a lot to do with act 1 of Radiant Dawn.
She's not just frail, she is "one rounded by a generic soldier" frail.
Mix that in with being in one of the single worst lineups of units in fire emblem. The Dawn Brigade is just SO bad which means you just lack good options for killing units near her.
Mix that in with the fact that her healing in act 1 doest actually generate a single point of healing and just offloads damage to a different unit that still needs to be healed properly afterwards.
You also have maps like that one map with the Black Knight where basically everyone gets a game over their first playthrough because the moment you let anything on this cramped fog of war map get within 2 squares of her she just dies.
Sure after act 1 when she has staffs and Jill is online and currently soloing most of the map and Noland or someone else is likely able to mop up anything not torn apart in the Jillnado, sure. She feels much better then.

If your argument relies on 'rigging' something, most people don't know that and thus it's not applicable.

@@nahte123456 In FE10 using BEXP guarantees you plus 3 stats every level up, so (In this case Micaiah) with Magic, Res, and luck pretty much guaranteed to cap, you use "Rig" BEXP to level her up to Tier 3 Level 20 in the end and will pretty much max out the rest of her stats like Speed, Defense, etc. So it's actually really easy to do, and probably a lot of people did, if not intentionally 😅 Though I guess if you never used BEXP or never noticed that you always got 3 stat ups from BEXP there was no way you would know, since the game doesn't explain that 🤔

Regarding Celica, you took out half of the question of what frustrated people about the whole Celica/Jedah thing. It's not just "Why would you trust Jedah?" but moreso, "Why would you trust Jedah over your comrades? Your friends?" The people that by this point she shed blood with.
I agree, within the context of their world, Jedah obviously radiating evilness (for a lack of words), isn't why she should immediately tell him to buzz off. But Celica keeping her entire squad in the dark expecting them to be fine with her sacrificing herself, when she was warned multiple times in the story to do otherwise is a complete misuse of trust. Her brother supposedly came back from the dead, slapped her, and said to stop trying to do everything herself. She did the exact opposite.
Why should anyone trust Celica beyond that point as a leader? If I were a close friend, I would be asking myself why I would care about her when she so clearly has a lack of care about herself? Her throwing her life away for me isn't chivalrous, it's selfish. And my biggest issue is that largely goes out of the window by the end of the story.

The thing is that Celica has been taught and raised with the Mila's mentality which means acting not thinking on herself, but on others. For that reason, she has no faith in humanity and thinks that only she and her faith she has in Mila can make a real change in the world, this can be proved when Mae says to Celica that she always has been that kind of person that always do things by her own, without looking for support. Of course it's frustating from our point of view, I couldn't understand why she did all these things, but if we put ourselves in her shoes, what else could she possibly do? She couldn't know if Jeddah was telling the truth or not, she was risking her comrades' lifes, her love was also risking his life for no reason and also the fate of the world was on her shoulders, therefore, she arrived at the conclusion that the best for all is to sacrifice herself to restore the balance in the world, all just because she didn't take into account the strength and potential humanity have for the first reason I said at the beginning. It's at the end, when Mila gives the Falchion that she realises that she has lost that faith in humanity at some point, and since then, she no longer lives with that fear of a world without the gods, but now she has hope on humanity and the future they have ahead.
I would lie if I say that I haven't questioned Celica's decisions during the story, but when you think about it, it's tough. All the things she appreciated had clashed, and she had to choose what to prioritize: her life, her love, the world... it's not about selfishness, it was more deciding on what has more value: herself or others

I don't know. I liked Dimitri's Three Hopes characterization a lot more than his Three Houses self, but I don't think Dimitri is a bad character in that too. It's valid that you dislike Dimitri, but I personally don't. He's a fun unit to play as, his backstory is amongst the darkest of all the Lords (only rival is Edelgard), this is unfortunately something that does occur within war times for infantry soldiers (though it's sometimes messy to determine if Dimitri actually did the really, really messed up stuff he was accused of doing), and considering the time period, it's easier to see he's more a victim to his environment and the corruption of the Kingdom and racism than his mental illness, which even I agree is one of the two major issues I have with his characterization if he's supposed to represent mental health. Also, you know the Fire Emblem fanbase mostly despises Gilbert right?

      3. the corruption of the kingdom plays a part, but the crux of his "character arc" is based way more around metal illness
      4. The fandom disliking a character does not make them bad especially when those reason are moralistic (i.e. judging a character for being morally gray) speaking of which Gilbert is a much better example of a morally gray character with metal health issues and it is a large part of why I like him, as he does not fall into the same trappings of the violent murderer with mental health issues that Dimitri does

@@AdamWithFED I understand, my problem is I think that FE never has had a problem with metal health issues being magically cured and I think there are other characters who do a better job of depicting a slow recovery without the baggage of the story singling them out as killing people in a particularly violent and warped way (Soren is the most obvious example of this). I do not want to diminish your love of this character, but hearing people constantly praise his portrayal without acknowledging the negative aspects has left me rather disillusioned with the fandom in general. I also want to be clear there is room to disagree on if a character is good or bad rep, but there is also a problem when potential issues are ignored. I will also admit you may not be the best person to bring this up with, because my biggest concern is that people who do not have metal health issues may be using Dimitri as an example of a deep complex character, while ignoring or understating the problematic elements of his writing and speaking over people who have experienced these issues irl

I'm saying he was more influenced by the environment and the circumstances around him instead of it being specifically his mental illness or his dark past being the driving force of his actions as the World of Fodlan in itself is extremely problematic (for example The Tragedy of Duscur was a racially motivated event) and his Three Hopes version is extremely chill and much more level-headed. Although it's a spin-off, the plot of it takes place in the main timeline. I'm not excusing him, I even said I had some grievances with Dimitri's writing at certain stages in the story. I lived in the ghetto so I know we're all products of our environment, but justifiable or not, people should have to pay some form of karmic accountability for their errors and misdeeds, as Dimitri is no exception to that rule and I think he got off a little too easy, but I love how despite that, he isn't exactly cured or just gets over it. In his route, he learns to live with and deal with it. He wasn't completely redeemed, but he is trying hard in his own route, and that's at least respectable, like Renault from Blazing Sword.
TLDR; I get where you're coming from, but Dimitri has redeeming character traits and I don't see him as an example of mental illness. Just a guy dealt a very bad hand who I still think should pay some karmic justice for what he did. I never excused his actions just contextualized them, but at least he's trying and it's not glorified at all like someone like Peri from Fates. She is extremely irredeemable and does close to nothing to improve or reflect on her past and present actions. She's even actively rewarded for the messed up things she did in the past and her psychotic disposition is still aggressively rewarded.

In 4:30 scene, Lyn is my favourite FE7 female main character, Because She is very difficult and not normally Eastern Swordmaster girl, And that her outfit(Sky blue mid-thick short sleeve long Cheongsam(Inside is dark green mid-thick short sleeve light armoured ninja suit, dark green mid-thick tight shorts), mid-thick fingerless gloves, Brown flat riding boots(dark green mid-thick tight ninja socks)) and equipment weapons(Mani Katti(Later Athos made Sol Katti to give her strike final boss), All Bow) can make her Strength is mid-high, Skill and Speed is highly, But her Physical defense is medium and Magic defense is mid-low, She good to use range weapon to attack Flying units(Pegasus Knight, Falcon Knight, Wyvern Rider, Wyvern Lord,Wyvern knight) and self-defense and support battle friends. So when I play the FE 7 games, Every remember FE 7 female main character and her outfit.
Lyn wearing battle outfit is cool, She didn't like wearing leggings and heavily armour, Because she like comfortable and to easy move around, And that she can handing Mani Katti or Sol Katti or All Bow, So many player who think she is not only Lord, When she assault to Enemy leader and strike units or destroy enemy supplies, She will change to Ninja outfit and equipment(Take off Cheongsam and riding boot, Only wearing ninja suit and shorts and ninja socks and ninja straw sandals, equipped Mani Katti or Sol Katti and All Bow and Shuriken) going to spy objective, But She really is Myrmidon, Swordmaster, Ninja, Master Ninja, That is awesome and nice pretty Sacaen Eastern shadow samurai-kunoichi princess.
Notice : Funny question, I can't believe in Japanese voice to found voiced by the famous magic girl anime Corrector Yui(Yui Kasuga, She is main Character of Corrector Yui) and Kirby, But that is awesome and very nice and pretty Japanese voice was Lyn.

Edelgard feels way more like a main villain then main character, especially with every route but the half baked extra route having her on that side of the story.

    • @moonmelons
      @moonmelons 11 месяцев назад +3

Honestly the whole point of the Edelgard sees a deeply flawed and tragic world and thinks it is up to her to fix it at all costs.
The problem is that her view is so deeply clouded by the events of her childhood that she just isn't able to see the real problems with her ideology.
Great villian but some people really miss the light the other paths shed on the fatal flaws with her grand plan.

She is an antagonist, but Rhea is just as much of an antagonist as her. The Agarthans are really the only “villains” in the game. Edelgard is still the main character though, the theming of the game is built around her, and that’s extremely literal bc the main theme’s lyrics are from her perspective
