First time that I came across a fire pump emergency power supplied by MI cable though they made a mistake when I observed a 6 by 6" by 1/4" thick brass plate that had three drilled holes & tapped for pipe threads for MI cable to enter fire pump panel. Asked an old sparky why that was done. Was a long time ago but think he said this prevents heating by induction. Thanks Ryan for another great easy to follow vidio.

What got me concerned about the 7 ( 60 to 250 HP ) fire pumps that our e!ectrical shop had to run every week was every motor were not TEFC NEMA motors but open style. Yes I guess an open motor might not burn out as fast as an overloaded TEFC motor but numerous times have seen fire pump shaft seal leak and spray water right on open ventilated shaft side of fire pump motors. Not a big problem if you are in the fire lump room when thus occurs. Just shut off the pump until plumber repacks shaft.

It may not be a wet location until you get a pressurized leak. Been there, seen that. Good change. Don't need to lose your fire pump during an emergency.
