David Pearson Was Just A Very Talented Race Car Driver & A True Champion , I Remember Going To My 1st NASCAR Race In 1969 As A 8 Yr Old Kid In Bryon Ga And The Race Was The Macon 300 At The Bryon Raceway & I Remember Seeing The # 17 Holman Moody Ford A Driver Wearing A Blue Helmet & Yellow Racing Goggles And The Name Above The Driver Door David Pearson And That Day I Became A David Pearson Fan , Thank You David For Making A 8 Yr Old Kid Have So Much Fun At His Very 1st NASCAR Race ... RIP 3 Time Champion David Pearson 🏆🏆🏆🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
One of the great quotes in NASCAR history: When asked who was better him or Richard Petty David thought a minute and said " Well Richard Petty once said that David Pearson was the greatest stock car driver he had ever saw so I guess I will just have to agree with Richard " NASCAR did not know what they had with those two and neither NASCAR nor the fans will ever see two like them again.
My dad was a huge fan of David Pearson; he had a Purolator jacket and always pulled for him in every race. Our family used to go on Sunday afternoon drives, and he always listened to the race on the radio. He almost had a wreck the year that Pearson and Petty crashed coming to the checked flag at Daytona, especially when Pearson was able to limp across the line ahead of Petty. A few months after my dad passed, I chanced to meet Mr. Pearson at the AutoFair at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. He was sitting alone under an awning near a car that he had brought, with no signs or fanfare telling who he was. I saw him, did a double take, and went over and said hello. I congratulated him on being inducted into the HoF, and in typical David Pearson fashion, he said, "Don't pay nothing" :). Got a couple of pictures of my son with him; he was very gracious. There will never be another like him.
NASCAR should've made a Hall of Fame years ago. Kinda sad to think of the drivers that didn't make it to see it. Pearson's record speaks for itself. SC is proud of him!
We were lucky to see 1 NASCAR race a year on tv, before 1970. Wide World of Sport's made it 2 or 3, for the whole year. In these early day's, when I did get to see a race, you couldn't help but notice, David Pearson driving a red & white mercury was always leading. The Wood's Bro. Mercury was out front. A dominance that is understated here. Pearson & Wood's Bro. racing owned NASCAR. Purilator filter's Recieved the world's record for advertising: Bang per Buck. Good Times...
David and Richard are the two greatest of all time , period ...... most of all they were fierce competitors and had the utmost respect for each other ........ they raced clean and may the best driver win ......... today is a joke , no respect what so ever and drivers today will endanger each other and everyone in the the race to win ...........
Had David Pearson raced full-time, he would've easily won more races than Richard Petty. By far, David Pearson was one of the top nicest guys in NASCAR's history.
Pound for pound, looking at the stats, David Pearson is hands down the greatest driver to ever hold a wheel in Nascar. He was also a very fine and humble man as you could see in this video..... I had the pleasure of talking to him in the stands at Hickory Motor Speedway one Saturday night, and to me, he was like talking to a guy at the gas station.... He didn't even know that he was my hero, and that I was starstruck.... He was one cool cat :)
I became a David Pearson fan because he was one of the few drivers who could beat Richard Petty when he was dominating NASCAR. I don't have anything against Richard Petty. He is a class act and meeting him was a great honor, but it was boring seeing the same guy win all of the time. If you haven't seen the finish to the 1976 Daytona 500, you've got to check it out.
No spoiled drivers today ever mention "THE FANS". And drivers today can not race clean like Pearson & Petty. Earnhardt is who started wrecking competition 1st.
David Pearson = As good a driver as there ever was, and a truly classy Southern gentleman !
mr david pearson was and still is my hero
What amazes me the most is the respect that David and Richard had for each other
Me too, I think their families knew each other on good terms and respected each other. Awesome!

Rip David Pearson, you will be remembered as “The Silver Fox”.
David was a great driver! And an awesome man!

I was a huge Richard Petty fan back in the day, but with out a doubt, David is the greatest driver to ever race in NASCAR! Just look up his stats.
May he RIP. 😢🏁💔

David Person is a class act. He was probably the best driver Ford ever had.
Tough as nails

The typist needs to be a fan for NASCAR so they'll know what he's saying. Yes! He's from South Carolina but c'mon it's not that bad ...
I'd like to run with this in the white David... 2:42 LOL
