non scherziamo dai,gli album dei Duran degli anni 80 sono nettamente migliori con canzoni spaziali ….ad ogni modo anche questa hit del 90 e’molto bella
Their most underrated song. August 1990: I was so much younger than today, I arrived in London from Lisbon, traveled on the tube and all the stations had posters: "Liberty" Duran Duran - Out Now!...and the stores and malls were playing this song the entire August.
Man crush alert: Nigel John Taylor is still the coolest sexiest rock star ever... fucking awesome bass, supermodel looks, sweetheart personality. Rocks my world.
I think true Duran Duran fans are the only ones that appreciate this exact song….underrated is so true!! It’s my fav! All about how relationships struggle…you fight you cry…nothing is black and white so why be so serious??? Enjoy it, doesn’t matter who wins…or how tough you are…if you have love, why make matters so serious all the time❤️
The Liberty album was ignored after "Big Thing" in '88. They came back stronger than ever with the wedding album in '93. I've been trying to track down Sterling's bass drum head of the screaming girl...not the original, but maybe a copy to put on my wall.
Personally I had already my socks blown off by 7 and the ragged tiger which IMHO is a stellar production to this day. I bought Liberty without knowing anything apart the first single because all DD albums used to have gems in it, and sure enough...
I was 17/18 when this song came out..1990.... Levi's jeans on... cool shoes.. a denim jacket.. a nice shirt ... gel on my hair... and my friends waiting at the corner to start the night away... what a way to start a new decade.. 1990! what a song! still love it! even more..
One of the best songs they ever wrote. I’ll never understand how it got to Number 3 in Italy and only Number 48 in the UK! Ferry Corsten used a sample of it in his version “Fire” and that became a dance hit.
This is also one of my favorite DD tunes. I think this song sort of served as a bridge between their classic 80's sound and what was to come in the 90's. You could also tell that they were definitely aging at this point and gravitating towards a more mature style.
Undeniably one of their best songs but made no impact on the charts. From biggest band in the world to zero at the turn of the nineties and then back again in style with Ordinary World in 1993 after being written off. A band with talent to burn never given the credit deserved as musicians and song writers. The fact they kept going despite a fickle public shows the music mattered. Serious sounds tremendous even 24 years later just as I thought it always would in the hot summer of 1990.
Been bumping this shit for years and years and years. Two decades. I’m 28, but my mother is an eighties baby, and was always playing this; The Police, Depeche Mode and Lenny Kravitz and all that shit. I have a lifelong love for this band in particular, and my children shall know it as well.
Except of course on some live concerts.... And I'm not just thinking about live aid. Excellent studio sound, rather uneven live. He might have a licence to thrill, "live" it wasn't always spot on, let's remain artistically honest.
@@wendystevens8428 I don’t think it conflicts with his manners at all to be honest, he can chew gum however he wants to, some people just chew it like that. It’s not that big of a deal to have it be taken like that. It kinda just shows him being relaxed and enjoying what he does... it has nothing to do with manners because he always has and will always have manners.
I got this album from my best girlfriend to 18th birthday. She gave a party (for her birthday two days later) and we played this record all the evening. There I met my husband for the first time. We talked for a while and I thought:" This doesn´t have to be serious!" Now - 25 years later we are still together - it got really serious ;-))) Thx DD for the soundtrack of my life love!
SoNiceThings, yours is the kind of story most associated with Duran Duran’s music. Just good memories can be the result of having great taste for music
Yeah, John still has a really nice smile after all these years. They're my favorite band and I've been to see them in concert. I even saw The Power Station in 1985. I'd love to see Duran2 again!
Absolutely great song. This and My Antarctica are my favorites from Liberty (1990). The album was their first to disappoint commercially and critically, after an amazing run that started in 1981. That's why the Wedding album was seen as their "comeback." Still, Japan liked this song and so do the fans.

You hit it on the head. Easily my favorite track in their entire career (Fallen or Falling Angel next with Beautiful Colours and Sekret October next). I love the amusement park photos in the Japanese release. Arcadia Liberty and Big Thing. Yes Rio but these are my faves.
This song is way better than Ordinary World: that guitar riff in the beginning, that Mowtown kind of sound, the counterpoint to the chorus on 2:39, that magical intermezzo, with an anthological performance by former drummer Sterling Campbell...
Imagen, sonido, música, ritmo, historia, buen gusto, chicas, que buena banda, que bueno que sigan juntos, creadores de música y de un estilo único... que buen video!!!
Simon has one of the best pop voices I've heard. To this day he gives great performances both studio and live in concert. A great band in all its forms.
The more i think about it, this is quite possibly their best track ever. Just so, so, easy to love.
This is the best Duran Duran song that nobody (but us) knows.

Great description of the times. I was 20 in 1990. It was a fun time in music, especially coming off the greatness of 1980s. Good times indeed!
The imagery hits me with a sense of nostalgia even though I didn't live through the 90s; you have a great way with words

And very little radio play in the USA. Had it come out today by a band like, oh, Maneskin, it would be #1.
They got so high in Italy because they were as big as Madonna or Michael Jackson back then here.
