    ** This product was designed for the new Blink Outdoor cameras **
    Blink cameras are amazing and can operate for close to 2 years on a fresh set of batteries before needing to be replaced. What if you never had to replace those batteries again? In this clip, I show you a new Wasserstein Battery Pack that is rechargeable and will provide 50% more power than a set of Lithium cells and can be quickly recharged when depleted. Please let me know if you have any questions and thanks again for watching!

    This is a thorough video and glad you uploaded it. A few observations why I wouldn't buy this despite the benefits: The seal of the battery to the blink looks insufficient. More than doubled the bulk of the camera. I'm in Gen 1 & 2 of the blink system, these don't look compatible. When it's time to charge, your camera will have to be offline until the pack is recharged or you need to buy a spare.

      No energy source is forever and with these accessories you can save the cost of buying and replacing batteries every year. You get a longer use out of the camera between swaps and it costs you far less to charge these than replacing them with fresh batteries. It's a great alternative to power your cameras. The other option would be to use as small solar panel to power the cameras and then you'll never have to climb the ladder again.

    My wireless cameras have the mounts that you put the camera inside and lock it in. These clearly would not work in those right? I mean the camera itself barely fits in the mounts I can't imagine putting this on the back end would even work. It's a great idea for people that are using just that little suction cup but mine are in cases and they are screw mounted to the surfaces. I have a few outside so they're supposed to be weatherproof I can't see taking the cases off and just using that little suction cup thing out in the rain in Florida. I just wanted to make sure I was correct before I made a purchase that wasn't going to work for me.

      Thanks for the post and there are always good and bad reviews for every product on Amazon so you have to take them with a grain of salt. A lot of them are complaining that the system doesn't work with the older Blink XT cameras and the listing clearly states that this unit is designed for the newer cameras. I have had 4 of these installed for over a year and they are still working fine and saved me a lot of $ with changing the batteries. It's not rocket science, these are rechargeable Lipo cells that simply replace the Lithium ones you'd normally but are rechargeable and provide a lot more capacity, which means longer run times. I hope that helps, Rick

      They have a latency of anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or more. I've found them to be useless for anything requiring real time. The battery powered units take a second or two to start recording so they miss a lot of the action I expected them to record. Blink Minis are different. They have a 3 second pre-roll since they are always in hot standby. I prefer the Minis for window or sheltered areas. Much more reliable.

    You give a lot of great tips but I frankly am not impressed with this one. The extra case weighs the camera down and makes it hard to finely adjust its angle and eliminates the option of enclosing it in a weatherproof case. Although less often, you still have to keep climbing that ladder, just not as often but perhaps right in the middle of a snowy winter, whereas with an available A/C socket and cord/plug or a well-placed solar panel you may never have to climb that ladder again.

    We have 4 blinks, better than nothing, but with the subscription needed, the batteries, and the poor clarity at night, should’ve went with a different brand.

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  3 года назад

      Thanks for the post but to be fair, all "battery powered" cameras have limits and Blinks last longer on a battery than most. The subscription is a new addition to their cameras but again, every company has that if you want to store longer videos. I've been impressed with the quality of the night recording as long as the camera isn't too far away from the area you're monitoring. If you're looking to improve on all of these things, you'll have to move to a wired system. That eliminates the subscription, can run forever and has better night vision as well. The downside is that it's a lot more complicated to install and more expensive as well. The Blink systems is the best out there for what it does. I hope that helps. Rick

      Chris, thanks for the post and the thing most folks are missing on Amazon is that this only works for the newer Blink Outdoor and not the original Blink XT or XT2. If you check the negative reviews, most of them are about that issue. As far as Blink not recommending rechargeable batteries, that's only for the internal batteries. You can't simply swap them out for rechargeable ones because the voltage is lower on those cells. This unit uses specialized cells that are the same voltage as the AA Alkaline and works fine. Blink actually just released a new solar kit with rechargeable cells in it themselves. These works great and I've been using them in 4 of my cameras for over a year without issue. I hope that helps, Rick

      Rechargeable AA batteries output voltage are usually only1.2 volts. That's why it requires non- rechargeable units witch are full 1.5 v. One big advantage, I noticed, rechargeable don't leak and damage your device.

      Jose, thanks for the post and I take the reviews on that site with a grain of salt. I find that most people only take the time to post a bad review and if a product works, you hardly hear about it. I can tell you that I have used a few of these around my house and they work great. All you're doing is replacing the batteries you normally have to change with a module you can recharge. It also provides a lot more capacity, which means a longer run time. It's a clever device that simply works as advertised.

      Thanks for the post and I can't agree with you since all the device did was double the capacity. It had nothing to do with the voltage, which was exactly the same as the original pair of batteries. This kit simply put 2 cells in parallel, which Ohms law will tell you doubles the capacity (amperage) available to be used but has no effect on the voltage. The reviews on Amazon are only as reliable as the consumer leaving them and hard to trust in most cases. I've been using these kits for going on 2 years with 5 of my cameras and they wokk just great. I hope that helps. Rick

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  Год назад

      Lisa, thanks for the post but the length of use for the batteries will vary considerably depending on a few things including the length of recording time, the resolution of the recording and the amount of motion in the area that triggers the recording. You also use a lot of battery power when viewing the camera to check on things. I have 16 of these (indoor and outdoor, both XT, XT2 and the new ones) and some of mine get about a year with heavy traffic and others are still going well over 18 month on the original cells. If you're going through batteries quicker, consider installing a small solar panel for the camera and you'll never need batteries again. I hope that helps, Rick

      James, thanks for the post but I actually posted this clip almost a year ago and have 4 of these working great. I have charged them a few times during that time and never had an issue. I know that reviews on Amazon and other places can be a good way to gauge a product's value, but there are always some buyers that don't understand the tech they're using and post bad reviews. All I can relate is my experience, and it's been rock solid. You have to remember that this product is really nothing more than a set of Lipo cells that you charge and then snap into the camera in place of the originals. There's really no high-tech circuits or anything else to fail so it's hard to see what kinds of problems folks can be having. I hope that helps with your decision. Rick

      Mark, I'm trying to make sense of what you're saying, but you're all over the place. This accessory is for folks that already own a Blink camera and it allows you to run it twice as long before needing to change the batteries. If you're buying a new system you have the option of installing a wired camera, which doesn't need batteries but will need power and limit the locations you can mount it. Both options have their advantages. As for the effectiveness of this accessory, I have used them for years and they work well. It's a pretty simple device that essentially doubles the battery capacity of the housing, allowing you to avoid climbing a ladder every few years to change them out. I've had them installed with the original batteries the whole time and they still have well over 50% of the power left and are working great. I hope that helps explain things a little.

      Rob, Thanks for the note so subtle knock on my integrity. I thoroughly test everything I review on the channel and only put a clip together for things that I use. This product works just fine and I have been using them with 4 of my cameras for over a year without issue. It's really simple, you take out the batteries and replace them with this, which is a larger battery pack. Same voltage as the original batteries but it has a larger capacity that allows the cameras to operate longer. Longer use = less time on a ladder swapping out expensive batteries. I'm not sure what happened with your camera, but I can assure you this product didn't cause it.

      @@Dronevalley You are welcome for the "note to subtle knock!" It is really my fault for not getting second and third opinion. • @Dronevalley

      @@1969ivan1 Rob, while I appreciate the comment, there is no possible way that an external battery pack like this one can damage your camera. There are always a lot of unsubstantiated opinions out there but there are also facts. All this external pack does is double your capacity with the ability to recharge the cells instead of requiring replacements every year. Same voltage as the originals so no risk of danger to the camera. In fact, blink just released a similar system for the camera. If you can be more specific about the problem you’re having I can help you figure out what caused it.
